You have held key positions at education institutes throughout your professional career. What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

Continuous learning and upskilling for current trends are my passions for teaching, planning innovative programs, and creating effective administration systems. As a teacher, I don’t just teach students, I learn current trends while upskilling.

Being the HOD of Sri Vasavi Engineering College, what is your leadership philosophy? How would you describe your leadership style?

As a HOD of SVEC, my philosophy about leadership is a personal roadmap that translates our beliefs, values, and principles. Leadership philosophy is a foundation for ethical decision-making. Moreover, it guides the individual’s life and work-related concerns. My leadership style is about collaboration and motivating others to do their best work. I aim to be direct and collaborative with my team members by delegating tasks, leading by example, and making sure they know I care.

The education systems in India and other foreign countries are structured very differently. In your experience, what can an inbound student gain from studying here in your institute?

The main difference between the education system in India and the education system abroad is the theoretical and practical approach. Indian education is primarily theory-based, while foreign education systems are primarily more practical. Now in our country also the governments are bringing many reforms in the education system and are working hard to develop the students technically. Studying at our institute can provide several benefits to an inbound student.

How does the curriculum of Sri Vasavi Engineering College ensure the best practice of industry?

What should be your institute’s top priority over the next five years?

Students’ syllabus is designed to prepare them for the ongoing digital era through exposure to major technologies that shape the world. Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Virtual and Augmented reality, and Big Data shall play an important role in this new-age education framework. Another significant change will be the adaptation of blended or hybrid learning practices to offer a more flexible and efficient education system. This will include online teaching techniques, e-courses, and learning applications as digital education extends its scope to include at-home learning services. Classroom time, on the other hand, will be reserved for practical work, discussions, and case studies. The new educational program has envisioned an immersive learning experience for classrooms through the use of competent technologies. A strong focus on extracurricular activities and science, arts, and maths, orators clubs will promote a generally positive attitude towards education and impact the overall development of students. Sports and arts will be promoted as mainstream options instead of alternative subjects. This will result in more motivation and engagement from students who will have greater control over their career choices. Employing psychometric analysis will also help determine competent domains for students to pursue. Educational institutions are now placing more emphasis on teachers’ upskilling and training to facilitate the development of flexible and improved teaching practices.

What do you see as your Institute’s greatest strengths?

The college continues its success streak since its inception (2001) with the help of several Doctorates, well-experienced and highly qualified faculty, research activities, advanced infrastructure, excellent placements, and a social service perspective. The college has nearly 5000 students.
