Dr. Bommidi Sridhar is the Head of the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering at Scient Institute of Technology, Ibrahimpatnam, Hyderabad. He has an experience of 19 years in teaching. He graduated B. Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad (JNTUH). He obtained his M. Tech in Digital Systems and Computer Electronics from JNTUH College of Engineering, JNTUH Hyderabad. He was awarded a Doctorate for a Novel Kernel Recursive Least Squares Approach for Efficient Spectrum Sensing to Cognitive Radio Applications from JNTUH, Hyderabad. He is a life member of professional bodies ISTE & IAENG and a Member of IEEE.

He published more than 22 research papers in various National and International journals/ conference proceedings. His areas of interest include Signal Processing and Communication, Embedded Systems, and VLSI Design. He has guided many students in their projects under UG and PG programs. He had an Indian publication patent on the title “An Effective VLSI Architecture for Data Encryption Standard and its FPGA Implementation”. He had written textbooks on "Electronics Measurements and Instrumentation” and “Fundamentals of IoT”. He also attended and conducted many seminars, symposiums and workshops.

What is the latest program that you are offering in your institute/dept which will help students outperform and stand apart from the crowd?

In our Department, we are offering: a B.Tech (Undergraduate) in Electronics and Communication Engineering with add-on training with hands-on Experience in IoT and VLSI.


What are the factors that make this program the best for the students to opt?

The current and future automation needs in all the sectors of science and technology are going to be addressed by Electronics and Communication Engineering and its core technology solutions, such as Embedded Systems and IoT, VLSI Design and 5G Communication only. In view of this predicted big future of Electronics, we are training our ECE Students to get acquainted with these technologies during their B. Tech Program. We drive them to build their future.

How do you tend to build an industry connection with this program? 

The industry connection is made in the following mentioned ways: 

  • To create an industry-oriented awareness we encourage the students in terms of their Feels, Mini and Major Projects, seminars, industrial visits

What were the challenges that you faced while inculcating this program into your curriculum?

A few challenges faced while inculcating the program are: 

  • The shortage of core industries in and around for establishing strong industry and institution relations (IIR)
  • The lack of IIR causes difficulties in offering internships and industry-oriented skills and knowledge among students

What are the types of projects that the students are working on through this program?

Through the program, the students work on different projects, some of which are mentioned below: 

  • We train and support the students in doing Field Projects, Nine and Major Projects and Hobby Projects during their B. Tech Program
  • All the projects are carried out from the domains of current and future areas of engineering only
  • All the projects are targeted at finding the best technological solutions for the problems of various areas of science and technology, Medical, Agricultural, Defense, Communications, etc., 
  • The observations of these solutions will be promoted to further levels of converting them into Patents, Copyrights, and Prototypes based on the scope of outputs

What are the benefits and career options after pursuing this course?
