Dr. K. Subbaramaiah is the Head of the Department of EEE at Lendi Institute of Engineering and Technology. With a Ph.D. in Power System Operation and Control, he has participated in 7 international and national workshops, faculty development programs, and seminars. He has also published 23 papers in national and international journals, along with holding four patents to his name. Dr. Subbaramaiah was ratified as Professor at Lendi Institute of Engineering and Technology, Vizianagaram, in 2022.
What are the factors that make this program the best for the students to opt?
In our daily lives we are so habituated to the usage of electricity that nowadays, no one thinks of not having electricity. So, to maintain these things, people need an electrical engineer where the sector is different from what students are doing nowadays. Now the students who are currently studying EEE or have passed out have an achievement where they have a separate base. They can even achieve different jobs in the government sector and in the private sector as well. They can even go into the software field; however, as electrical engineers, our students are useful to the government, where they will work serving society.
What are the best practices in the program you're doing?
The best practice we have at Lendi Institute of Engineering and Technology. We concentrate on students with disciplinary knowledge. The students are not only achieving the best packages but also securing the best placements. They're also building entrepreneurship skills in our college. We push our students to be open to all types of jobs and to be able to work in any type of industry. They learn how conductors work, the types of electrical equipment they would need to work with and the safety regulations. We provide everything in our college, from education to providing advice and access to experienced faculty members. This is helpful for the growth of the students in the long run.
How do you tend to build an industry connect with the program?
In electrical and electronics engineering, we have plenty of opportunities. We like calling our colleagues Lindy colleagues because they are getting tied up with different industries. We are also engaging students to complete internships and complete practical sessions at the lab so that they gain practical knowledge in their fields. Tech students need to increase not just their theoretical knowledge from the classroom but also their practical knowledge through internships and lab sessions, which is the aim of our efforts.

What are the types of projects that the students are working on through this program?
Currently, our students are working on electrical projects. At present, it is increasing, so we place stress on working on projects where they are trying to reduce their power consumption. They are also working on projects related to ecosystems, solar power generation and EV vehicle projects. Some of our students are also working on hydroelectricity and power generation through the environment.
What are the benefits and career options after purchasing this course?
Nowadays, as we see, students' strengths in specializations like EEE, Mechanical, and Civil are reducing due to a lack of job opportunities. However, there is always a demand for electrical engineers in industries like railways. The railway works with the help of electricity so there are plenty of job opportunities for Electrical engineers. Alternatively, students can look into jobs in software. It is perfectly okay to branch out into other industries and jobs. This is where our electrical students are at an advantage because they can fit into any industry.
What do you think are your roles and responsibilities?
As an HOD, I need to solve the problems that the students are facing. I also need to think about their growth, like how they are working, how their internships are going, and how their labs are going. Moreover, I also need to think about the problems or future possibilities for the faculty who are working for the students, and how efficiently they are working. I need to figure out if things are occurring in the right way. Overall, I want our students to have good futures after passing out of our course.
