The regulations KJR 21 and KJR 23 allow a 20% flexibility in modifying the syllabus, especially from the third year onwards, where professional electives and open electives offer opportunities for significant syllabus changes. Departments are actively involved in categorizing professionals into different domains within their specialization, which informs the design of syllabi and brings a significant shift in the landscape of professional electives. The integration of certification courses linked to professional electives aims to bridge the gap between academia and industry, ultimately enhancing students' employability and ensuring they are well-prepared with industry-relevant skills and knowledge upon graduation. The previous system of categorizing students based solely on backlogs has been replaced by a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) that considers three parameters: backlogs, CGPA, and mental observation. This new approach classifies students into three categories: slow, medium, and advanced learners, providing a more comprehensive understanding of their academic performance. This change reflects the institution's commitment to recognizing the diverse strengths and challenges of its student body and aims to create a more supportive learning environment. As students and faculty, it's important to be aware of this change, which will help ensure a more accurate assessment of academic progress.

The mentors address various aspects such as academic performance, backlog, involvement in co-curricular and extracurricular activities, and professional development aspirations. In addition, they have implemented a Course Representative (CR) system for second and third-year students, providing another layer of support.
