Dr N.V.S.Sree Rathna Lakshmi has been working as the Head of Electronics and Communication Engineering Department at Agni College of Technology, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. She has a wonderful 21 years of teaching experience and she has done PhD in the field of image processing as part of her academics. In addition to this, she has been the key resource person of college for events like workshops, conferences and FDPs and was recognised as the Supervisor by the Anna University for producing one Doctorate. She has published more than 20 international journals.

Which aspects make the programs of your college an ideal choice for students?

We are moving towards a society which is adapting itself to the world of automation. Therefore it is necessary for students to understand the basics of automation tools. And our Robotic Process Automation (RPA) program teaches students about the process and technologies that make it easy to build, deploy and manage software robots that emulate human actions after interacting with digital systems and software. In addition to this, Industry 4.O is a program that offers the basic understanding and applications of PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) to students.

What will you say are the best practices and policies of the courses your institute is offering to students?

Students are facilitated with authenticated certification courses and hands-on learning sessions to help them understand the technical processes and applications which are highly used in industries. 

What are some valuable insights of the programs that students are pursuing from your college?

We have designed our courses with the aim of imparting the best quality and employment oriented practical knowledge to students in the discipline of Electrical, Mechanical and Computer Applications and also to develop their critical thinking capabilities. Apart from this, students also get a chance to gather knowledge about interdisciplinary fields through our courses and that's the best part in my opinion. 

How do the courses of your college ensure the future preparedness of students?

Students after enrolling in our courses will be able to understand the industrial protocols in a much better way and applications pertaining to other core disciplines apart from gaining strong practical experiences and that's how we ensure their future readiness.

How did you train your faculty to deliver new programs to students in the best possible way?

The faculty members of our institute are regularly encouraged to acquire company specific certifications (UiPath , Huawei, Bosch Rexroth) and also undergo technical training through NPTEL, FDP’s and Professional Development Programs to equip themselves with the current trends pertaining to the latest programs that are being offered to students by us.

How did you build a strong connection between your institute courses and industry demands?

Our college regularly organizes workshops and guest lectures in collaboration with experts of eminent industries like Huawei, Bosch Rexroth and UiPath with the purpose of disseminating expertise of the field experts among students and also to educate them about the best practices of the corporate sector and how exactly things work on ground level.

What challenges have you faced while inculcating the latest programs in your college curriculum?

The major hurdle for us was to impart relevant knowledge on recent industrial and educational trends to a multidisciplinary batch of students.

On what kinds of projects your students are currently working on under their respective courses?

Our students are working on some cool projects and presently they are developing a Smart Elevator Control System Using PLC, Automatic Healthcare Bots, an Android Application to improve learning ability of Dyslexic Children and lastly they are making a Product Sorting System using a Pneumatic conveyor belt.

What career options would be available for students after pursuing courses from your college?

As far as I have observed the outside corporate world, I can assure that tremendous job opportunities would be available to students. And after successfully completing their respective courses from our institute, they can work as an Automation Engineer, Instrumentation and Control Engineer, Field Service Engineer, Process Automation Engineer, Robotics Software Engineer and Mobile App Developer.
