Choosing Vinod Gupta School of Management, IIT Kharagpur for my MBA was a carefully considered decision driven by several pivotal factors that set it apart from other institutions. 

Firstly, the renowned legacy of IIT Kharagpur in Supply Chain Management played a significant role in my choice. The institution's track record in this field is unparalleled, offering specialized courses with general management degrees, industry collaborations, and a faculty known for their expertise in Supply Chain Management. The opportunity to learn from the best in the field and delve deep into a curriculum tailored to my specialization was a compelling reason for choosing VGSoM, IIT Kharagpur. 

Moreover, the Return on Investment (ROI) aspect was crucial in my decision-making process. VGSoM's exceptional placement records and the prospect of securing lucrative opportunities post-MBA while maintaining a reasonable tuition fee made it a pragmatic choice. The potential to leverage the institution's brand value and promising career prospects made the financial aspect a strong determining factor. 

The holistic experience offered by VGSoM also played a pivotal role. It's not just about academics; the overall environment fosters an all-round development that aligns perfectly with my aspirations.

At IIT Kharagpur, the hostel life for MBA students is an integral part of the experience, offering a conducive environment for both academic pursuits and personal growth. With over 20 hostels on campus, the MBA students are accommodated in separate hostels equipped with single rooms and essential amenities, such as cupboards, HVAC, fans, chairs, and tables. 

The hostel life at IIT KGP is renowned for its vibrancy and camaraderie. It provides an unparalleled opportunity to interact not only with fellow MBA batchmates but also with students pursuing various other courseslike Btech, Mtech, etc. This diverse interaction enriches the networking experience, fostering connections that extend beyond academic realms.

The facilities in the MBA hostels are conducive to a comfortable living experience. From well maintained rooms to common areas, the amenities such as study tables, beds, and storage spaces meet the basic needs of students, facilitating an environment conducive to study and relaxation. 

The hostel's sharing structure predominantly consists of single rooms, which offer students the privacy and independence crucial for their academic pursuits. However, the ideal sharing of a room often involves fostering an environment that balances personal space with social interaction, promoting a healthy and supportive atmosphere. 

Students engage in various activities within the hostels, including participating in inter-hostel tournaments and events. These events not only encourage healthy competition but also facilitate bonding among students, fostering a sense of camaraderie and teamwork. 

My Best Thing about the hostel is that the relationships formed within the hostel endure beyond the academic years, establishing lifelong friendships and support systems. The close knit nature of the MBA batch, coupled with the camaraderie shared among hostel mates, creates an environment where individuals feel supported and connected. 

Placements at VGSOM IIT Kgp

At Vinod Gupta School of Management (VGSOM), the placement phase stands as a pivotal stage, amalgamating anticipation, preparation, and opportunity. The process is meticulously structured and overseen jointly by the college and the Placement Committee. 

The mindset during placements encompasses a blend of nervousness, excitement, and anticipation. The day of placements is an emotional rollercoaster, ranging from interview jitters to the elation of securing coveted positions. Typically, 20-25 esteemed companies visit the campus, conducting consecutive sessions resulting in placements occurring at an hourly rate. 

My Personal encounter with VGSOM's placements was rewarding. I Fortunately received the PPO for the Supply chain Role. An array of diverse companies, including prominent names like P&G, Reckitt, ITC, McKinsey, PWC, Wells Fargo, and Morgan Stanley, demonstrated the breadth of opportunities available. The consistent increase in average, median, and highest placements over the years underscores the institution's escalating value in the corporate sphere, with a consistent 100% placement record.

For those securing coveted roles, life after placement marks a transition into the professional realm, bringing forth new challenges and growth prospects. While most students find placements in their preferred domains, a few may make compromises. Nevertheless, the institution's robust training and support systems empower students to excel in varied roles. 

At Vinod Gupta School of Management (VGSoM), the MBA program diverges from specific specializations like Finance, Operations, or Marketing. Instead, it offers a comprehensive curriculum leading to a degree in General Management. This distinct approach allows students to cultivate a wide-ranging skill set encompassing various business facets. My Overall Experience at VGSOM

My experience at Vinod Gupta School of Management at IIT Kharagpur has been incredibly enriching and fulfilling. The blend of academic rigor, collaborative environment, and diverse extracurricular engagements has crafted a holistic and profound learning journey.

The initial days, filled with a mix of excitement and nerves, laid the foundation for the years to come. The inclusive atmosphere established through interactions with classmates, faculty, and administration was pivotal in creating a supportive and nurturing learning environment.

The camaraderie among peers and the mentorship provided by faculty members fostered an environment conducive to personal and academic growth. Participation in over 20 clubs and committees added invaluable dimensions beyond the confines of textbooks. These extracurricular engagements not only enriched learning but also cultivated essential leadership and teamwork skills.

My participation and success in over 50 case competitions, especially the Industry and Other B-School case competitions, reflect the institution's commitment to practical learning. These wins highlight the practical skills honed within the campus, contributing significantly to personal and academic achievements.

The idyllic routine of commuting via bicycles within the campus not only brought a refreshing touch but also promoted a healthier lifestyle. The blend of academics, club activities, and leisure through sports and cultural events painted a well-rounded daily life.

As a second-year student, this transformative journey has exposed me to diverse perspectives, a robust academic curriculum, and the practical application of knowledge. The institution's esteemed reputation, supported by exceptional academics and placements, reinforces its ability to shape well-rounded professionals.

The relationships nurtured, lessons imbibed, and experiences gained have been instrumental in my personal and professional growth. VGSOM's role as a platform for holistic development, fostering future leaders adept at navigating the corporate realm, has been evident in my journey. This experience has molded me into a versatile individual, ready to make substantial contributions in both professional and personal spheres.
