National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced that JEE Main 2026 registration for Session 1 will start in October 2025. The official registration dates are not out yet. NTA will release the JEE Main 2026 dates and other details soon on the NTA JEE Mains official website jeemain.nta.nic.in.

  • JEE Main 2026 registration last date is expected to be in mid-November 2025.
  • To apply for 1 paper, pay a JEE Main 2025 registration fee of Rs 1000 for Gen male and Rs 800 for Gen female candidates.
  • Indian or foreign candidates who have passed or are appearing for Class 12 in 2024, 2025, or 2026, with physics, math, and one more subject (either chemistry, biology, biotech, or a technical paper), will be eligible for JEE Main. There is no upper age limit.

Last year, a total of 4,89,210 candidates registered for JEE Main session 1 examination, and for JEE Main session 2 examination, a total of 4,00,696 candidates registered.

Will JEE Main 2026 be tough?

Yes, JEE Main 2026 is very likely to be tougher than the previous years (2025-2022). Here’s why:

  • From JEE Main 2025 onwards, section B has been removed, which means all questions are compulsory to attempt, 75 questions total (25 each in Physics, Chemistry, Maths), all compulsory. Negative marking applies to every question.
  • In 2024, the JEE Main exam was a moderate but lengthy paper, where mathematics was the most difficult.
  • In 2023-2022 the exam was moderate to difficult, with some relief due to optional numericals.

Can I apply for both sessions in JEE Main 2026?

Yes, you can apply for both the sessions of JEE Main 2026. The highest of your two scores will be considered. 

  • If you wish to apply for both sessions, you must register and pay the JEE Main registration fee separately for Sessions 1 and 2.
  • If you appear in both sessions, then the best JEE Main score among the two sessions will be considered for ranking or merit list.
  • However, it is not mandatory to appear in both sessions; you can also choose either session.
What should I do if I forget JEE Main password?

In case you forget the JEE Main password, you must visit the official website – jeemain.nta.nic.in. Go to the Candidate Login and click on “Forgot Password”. Then a new window will appear where you will get three options to retrieve the password using any of the three options:

  • In the first option, you must provide the correct answer to the security question you mentioned during the form-filling process.
  • You can also take the second option, where an OTP will be sent to your registered mobile. Using this OTP, you can reset your password.
  • If you take the third option, a password reset link will be sent to the email ID used during registration. You can click on the reset link and recreate your password.

JEE Advanced 2026

JEE Advanced 2026 is expected to be conducted by IIT Roorkee, according to the rotational policy amongst the 7 IITs. The JEE Advanced 2026 official notification, along with the brochure, is expected to be released in December 2025.

JEE Main 2026 Registration Documents Required

Candidates applying for JEE Main 2026 must keep certain documents ready to avoid rejection of their forms. As per the advisory, these updated documents are mandatory for eligible candidates:
