AP PGECET 2026 Answer Key
APSCHE released the preliminary AP PGECET 2026 answer key on May 6, 2026 for all 13 subject papers. Candidates had a 48-hour window — from 3:00 PM on May 6 to 3:00 PM on May 8, 2026 — to raise objections against answers they believed were incorrect.
Each objection had to be supported with a relevant textbook reference or academic source. APSCHE reviewed all valid objections and incorporated corrections before releasing the final answer key alongside the result on May 14, 2026. The final answer key was used to calculate the marks and ranks for all candidates who appeared in April 2026.
How to Use the Answer Key to Estimate Your Score
Candidates can cross-check their responses against the answer key to estimate their marks. Here is how:
- Count the number of questions where your response matches the answer key
- Each correct answer carries +1 mark
- There is no negative marking — wrong or unattempted answers carry zero marks
- Your estimated score equals the total number of correct responses
Since the final answer key is now published, you can download your rank card directly from the official portal. The rank card shows your official marks, rank and percentile — no need to estimate.

AP PGECET 2025 vs 2026: Result Comparison
| Year | Result Date | Pass Rate | Exam Date |
|---|---|---|---|
| AP PGECET 2026 | May 14, 2026 | 93.29% | April 28–30, 2026 |
| AP PGECET 2025 | June 25, 2025 | 93.55% | June 6–8, 2025 |
The 2026 result came about six weeks after the exam — consistent with the 2025 turnaround. The pass rate is slightly lower than 2025 (93.29% vs 93.55%), which is within normal year-on-year variation. Both years show that the large majority of candidates who appear do qualify.
Your rank card is the single most important document for the rest of the admission process. Keep printed and digital copies safe before counselling begins.
AP PGECET 2026 Cutoff
The AP PGECET 2026 cutoff has two separate components. The qualifying cutoff is the minimum marks needed to be included in the merit list and is fixed by APSCHE. The admission cutoff is the closing rank at which seats fill up during counselling — this varies by college, branch and category and is released only after all counselling rounds are complete.
AP PGECET 2026 Qualifying Cutoff
To appear in the rank list, General, EWS and OBC candidates must score at least 25% of total marks — that is, 30 out of 120. SC and ST candidates have no minimum qualifying mark requirement. They are ranked on the basis of their actual score, whatever it may be.
Expected Branch-wise Admission Cutoff Ranks (2026)
The final admission cutoffs for 2026 will be published by APSCHE only after all counselling rounds are over. The table below shows expected closing ranks based on 2025 trends. These are indicative and will vary based on the number of qualified candidates, seat availability and category-wise reservation.
| College | Branch | Expected Closing Rank (2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Andhra University College of Engineering (AUCE), Visakhapatnam | Computer Science & Technology | Around 100 |
| JNTU Kakinada (JNTUK) | Computer Science Engineering | 300 – 500 |
| JNTU Kakinada (JNTUK) | AI and Data Science | 300 – 500 |
| Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati | Information Technology | 2,000 – 3,000 |
| Andhra University | Mechanical Engineering | 1,500 – 2,500 |
| Acharya Nagarjuna University, Guntur | Civil Engineering | Higher ranks (wider availability) |
These are expected cutoff ranks based on 2025 closing rank trends. The official AP PGECET 2026 admission cutoff will be released by APSCHE after all counselling rounds are completed.
Key factors that influence where the cutoff lands include: total number of qualified candidates per paper, difficulty level of that year’s paper, available seat count per branch and category, and the number of candidates who participate in counselling. Branches like CST and ECE at top universities always see very competitive cutoffs.
AP PGECET 2026 Marks vs Rank
Your rank in AP PGECET depends on your raw marks and the total number of candidates who appeared in your specific paper. Since AP PGECET is split across 13 papers, the marks-to-rank relationship differs from paper to paper. A mark of 60 may give you rank 300 in the competitive CST paper but rank 50 in a less-populated paper like Mining Engineering.
Expected Marks vs Rank: Computer Science & Technology (CST) Paper
| Marks Scored (Out of 120) | Expected Rank – General Category |
|---|---|
| 100 and above | 1 – 50 |
| 80 – 99 | 51 – 300 |
| 60 – 79 | 301 – 700 |
| 40 – 59 | 701 – 1,500 |
| 30 – 39 | 1,501 – 2,500 |
| Below 30 | Not Qualified (General / EWS / OBC) |
These are estimated ranges for the CST paper based on previous year trends. Marks vs rank for ECE, EE and ME papers will differ. For papers with fewer candidates (AE, MN, FT), the same marks will give a significantly better rank.
Your AP PGECET 2026 rank card already shows your exact rank — you do not need to estimate it. Use the rank card to compare your position against the expected college cutoffs in the section above, and identify which colleges and branches to target during web options entry.
In papers with smaller candidate pools like Food Technology or Mining Engineering, even moderate scores can give you a rank good enough for a seat at a top university. In high-volume papers like CST or ECE, you typically need 70+ marks to be in a competitive position for university departments.

Top Colleges Accepting AP PGECET 2026 Score
AP PGECET 2026 scores are accepted by 333 colleges spread across 17 universities in Andhra Pradesh. These include government engineering colleges, university department colleges, private aided colleges and self-financed institutions. Here are the top universities and colleges you should target based on your rank.
| College / University | Location | Programmes Offered |
|---|---|---|
| Andhra University College of Engineering (AUCE) | Visakhapatnam | M.Tech (Multiple Specialisations) |
| Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) | Tirupati | M.Tech, M.Pharmacy |
| JNTU Kakinada (JNTUK) | Kakinada | M.Tech (Multiple Specialisations) |
| Sri Krishnadevaraya University (SKU) | Anantapur | M.Tech (Multiple Specialisations) |
| Acharya Nagarjuna University (ANU) | Guntur | M.Tech, M.Pharmacy |
| Sri Padmavathi Mahila Viswa Vidyalayam (SPMVV) | Tirupati | M.Tech (Women candidates only) |

Among all participating institutions, Andhra University College of Engineering (AUCE) in Visakhapatnam is the most sought-after. Seats in AUCE close at very low ranks — around 100 for Computer Science & Technology — so you need a top score to get in. University department seats at SVU, SKU and ANU are the next tier and also fill up quickly.
Government and university department seats are always more competitive than seats in private self-financed colleges. If your rank is above 5,000 in a popular paper, you may still find seats in private colleges during the later rounds of counselling. Use the web options stage to enter a range of colleges — from your first choice to a realistic backup — to maximise your chances of getting a seat in at least one round.
AP PGECET 2026 Preparation Tips
If you are preparing for AP PGECET 2027 — or planning to retake after 2026 — here are practical tips based on the exam pattern, syllabus depth and previous year difficulty levels. The exam tests your B.Tech subject knowledge through 120 MCQs in 2 hours, with no negative marking.
Start with the Exam Pattern
You get exactly 1 minute per question. The questions test conceptual understanding, not speed tricks. Since there is no negative marking, you should attempt every single question — even if you are not sure, you have a 25% chance of getting it right with a random guess. Never leave a question blank.
Prioritise Engineering Mathematics
Engineering Mathematics is part of all 12 engineering papers and usually makes up 20–25% of the questions. Many candidates neglect this section and lose easy marks. Strong performance in mathematics can significantly improve your rank without you having to master every topic in the core subject. Cover all standard topics — linear algebra, calculus, differential equations, probability and numerical methods — before the exam.
Cover the Complete Syllabus
AP PGECET covers your full B.Tech programme. Do not skip subjects because you found them hard in college — they will appear in the paper. Candidates who cover the entire syllabus typically score 70 or more marks, which usually means a competitive rank in most papers. Make a study plan with dedicated time for every subject.
Solve Previous Year Papers
Previous year AP PGECET question papers are the most effective preparation tool. They show you the exact question type, difficulty level and topic distribution. Solve at least 5–6 years of papers under timed conditions (2 hours, 120 questions). This helps you understand which topics appear most frequently and lets you practise speed management before the actual exam.
Time Management During the Exam
- Start with topics you know best — build your score quickly at the start
- Do not spend more than 90 seconds on any single question
- If a question takes too long, mark it for review and move on
- In the last 15 minutes, go back and attempt all marked questions
- Since there is no negative marking, submit an answer for every question before time ends
Use GATE Books as the Primary Reference
The AP PGECET syllabus closely matches the GATE syllabus for most engineering papers. GATE preparation books — such as those from standard publishers for your branch — are therefore ideal study references. They cover all the topics in the right depth and include practice questions at a similar difficulty level.
Practise on a Computer Before the Exam
AP PGECET is a Computer-Based Test. If you are not comfortable reading long questions on a screen and navigating a test interface, your speed will suffer on exam day. Take at least 10–15 full-length mock tests on a computer before the actual exam. This reduces exam-day anxiety and gets you used to scrolling through questions, marking for review and managing on-screen timers.
