Ques. How good is IIM Shillong's PGPEX programme and how good are its placements?

● Top Answer By Rishabh Singh on 12 Feb 24

Ans. My brother received an interview call from IIM Shillong for their PGPEX program. This was a few years back. He wanted to join the course because he felt it would be beneficial for his corporate career. The teaching model at IIM Shillong focuses on developing Asian economies like China.  The PGPEX is comparatively affordable at IIM Shillong, compared to other management schools. But the top management schools host international teachers as visiting faculty for their courses.  Now here is the catch. The placements of IIM Shillong are entirely student driven. My brother reached out to a faculty member who was clear that the college offers its students a platform, but it can’t guarantee placements. During placements your entire profile will get you an offer, not just your ‘IIM Shillong’ tag.  After careful consideration, my brother decided to not opt for PGPEX at IIM Shillong.Read more

Ans. If the job opportunity offered at the end of an Executive MBA from IIM Kozhikode is less than what you are already earning, it’s not logical to invest 20 Lakhs and gain nothing in return. Ques. Shall I go for PGDBM from NMIMS, or shall I go for PGCBM from XLRI, Jamshedpur? Please feel free to advice any other course, apart from these two related to EMBA. I have 5 plus years of experience.

● Top Answer By Siddarth Ghose on 18 Apr 23

Ans. XLRI has a strong reputation for Human Resource (HR) management and Industrial Relations (IR) studies. If an individual is specifically interested in HR/IR, then XLRI would be a better option compared to NMIMS (Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies). However, if you are looking for a general management program, then NMIMS would be a better choice because of its excellent peer group and rigorous curriculum.  XLRI is still a good institute for other streams, but it is more specialized in HR and IR. Similarly, NMIMS is known for its general management program, and it may not have the same level of expertise as XLRI in HR/IR.Read more

Ques. Which institute is better to pursue a full-time executive MBA, Xavier Bhubaneswar or KJ Somaiya?

● Top Answer By Neha Raje on 16 Mar 23

Ans.  If you have the financial means to do so, it would be wise to choose Xavier Institute of Management Bhubaneswar (XIMB) over KJ Somaiya Executive Program for a full-time executive MBA. While KJ Somaiya can offer assistance with placement opportunities, they do not provide on-campus placements, meaning you will need to find job opportunities on your own.  XIMB has a strong brand value and has completed 100% placement for its MBA program in 2022 with a 16% increase in average salary, which rose to Rs. 17.54 LPA from Rs. 15.15 LPA the previous year. While KJ Somaiya Institute of Management MBA placements 2023 had a 92% placement rate and attracted 132 companies, the highest and average packages offered stood at INR 22.50 LPA and INR 12.48 LPA, respectively. Sectors such as banking, IT, and financial services were the top recruiting sectors during the placements. If you cannot afford the fees associated with XIMB and are willing to forego on-campus placement opportunities, then KJ Somaiya Executive PGDM could be a good option for you. However, keep in mind that the peer learning experience may be less than ideal, as there are students who were admitted through the Mat/ATMA test with lower scores through the DTE cap process directly without any group discussion or personal interview, particularly in the regular MMS program. Ultimately, the decision of which program to choose should depend on your individual goals, circumstances, and financial situation. Do your research, consider your options carefully, and seek advice from mentors or professionals in your desired field before making a decision.Read more

Ques. Is MDI GURGAON a good option for an MBA executive program?

● Top Answer By Sagardeep on 07 Mar 23

Ans. MDI Gurgaon is a great choice for an executive MBA program and is at par with other top-tier schools like IIM A, B, C, L, IIFT, FMS, XLRI, and IIT Delhi DMS. The 3-year executive MBA program for working professionals is extremely good, with the same course and faculty as that of the full-time one-year executive MBA and two-year full-time residential MBA program. It's an excellent institute and is even better than some of the newer IIMs. However, it's important to note that the fees for the 3-year executive MBA program at MDI Gurgaon have increased enormously over the last few years and are almost 10 lakhs. If you're looking for other options, IIM Lucknow's Noida campus also offers a similar 3-year executive MBA program with fees of Rs 10 lakhs, and classes are held on weekends and weekdays. IIFT Delhi is another option that offers a similar 3-year executive MBA program with fees of Rs 6.5 lakhs and classes on weekends. IIT Delhi also offers a similar 3-year executive MBA program with fees of Rs 4.10 lakhs, with classes on weekdays. FMS Executive MBA has fees of Rs 1 lakh only. It's important to choose your education loan wisely, especially when considering the high fees for some of these programs. Make sure to do your research and compare the options before making a decision.Read more

Ques. Does JBIMS have executive MBA programs for working professionals?

● Top Answer By Madhav Aneja on 03 Mar 23

Ans. To be eligible for the Executive MBA program at JBIMS, you must have passed the Graduate Examination in Industrial Engineering in Mumbai and have also qualified in the GATE examination conducted by the IITs. Additionally, you must have a minimum of two years of full-time work experience at a supervisor or executive level. Internships and projects do not count towards this requirement. Once admitted to the program, you must maintain a minimum attendance of 3/4th of the lectures delivered in the First Term and the Second Term. Failure to meet this requirement will result in not being permitted to appear for the Institute/University examination and will require you to re-admit and start the program again. No exceptions will be made. The program is tentatively 15 working weeks long and takes place over two semesters. The First Semester runs from June to November, while the Second Semester takes place from January to April. Classes for the Part-Time Master's Degree Program are held from Monday to Friday from 18:30 to 21:30, on Saturdays from 14:45 onwards, and on Sundays from 09:00 onwards. These times are subject to change, so it is important to keep this in mind when considering admission to the Executive MBA program at JBIMS.Read more
