According to other Delhi University colleges, I found the my course fee little high as it is one of the good colleges. In terms of scholarship, yes they provide it to some and the procedure is little complicated. And in terms of giving campus job it is not that good.

Campus Life

So I can surely say that tha campus of Lady Irwin College is so so good than other colleges. It's annual cultural fest 'Quintessence ' is so famous in other DU colleges which held in April month. For extra curricular activity, different society are there.

Course Curriculum Overview

I have chosen this course because I am a person who loves to have variety in life. That's the most prominent reason for choosing this subject as Home Science is a multi-disciplinary subject. It offers 5 specializations ( FN, DCE, HDCS, RMDA &FAS ) to study. In the first 2 years, all 5 specializations are taught and in the final year, one specialization is chosen based on merit. The student ratio is pretty good i.e. 20:1. It has supportive and helpful faculty members who are mastered in their subjects. Examinations are held per semester after every 6 months in a scheduled manner. And it is quite easy to pass the exam with flying colors by just going through the last year's question papers

Campus Life

This college has 13 major societies for every interested student. Societies conduct their events every few days. Especially active during the time of Fest and DJ evening. Our fest is also too fascinated and popular among Delhites.

The infrastructure of the college is quite bad but still, the college does make sure to get us to participate in different activities. At the time of admission, we have to choose NCC, NSS, or NSO. There are different groups within each department.

BSc Hons home science comprises 5 subjects. You can specialize in any one of them. Five subjects are - Food and nutrition, human development, resource management, communication, and fashion. I chose this course as I want to do specialization in foods. The faculty here is also excellent. It has semester exams that are after every 6 months and it is a 3-year course. Exams are not that difficult. You get a variety of options open for you through this course.

FERIA is the annual feast of our college which is held in February, various competitions are conducted in this fest that too on a very large level. The library is good, we get almost all the books related to our subjects and we have access to journals as well. Classrooms are very basic, there is no AC in classrooms. Our college has its gym room which is accessible to all students. There are various societies in our college like music, art, dance, theatre, fashion, etc. Society gives students great exposure as I have been a part of my college's dance society name ELEGANZA for 3 years and I am the president of my society this year which is my last year.

Course Curriculum Overview

I chose this course because this course provides us with immense knowledge of various departments like human development, fabric, and apparel science, resource management, food, and nutrition, etc. Students are divided into sections wisely and we get at least 2 professors for each subject. In this course, the majority of professors have done their Ph.D. and have experience of more than 15 years. We get enough time for exams and exam pattern comes from our basic knowledge of the subject.

Course Curriculum Overview

I chose this course as I was interested in foods & was kind of confused about what to choose between nutrition or dietetics or food technology. So, I thought to explore and opt for the best one. The faculty is good and is there for each subject you choose. The teachers are very friendly & helpful. Term exams were conducted in time & it was all already taught by the teacher.

Placement Experience

I have no idea about placement as I am still in 2nd year. And haven't heard from my seniors too about getting placement. We take admission in masters after doing this course. After getting a degree, I too will opt for Masters in nutrition & dietetics. If I get admission in other du colleges through merit or marks otherwise I will go up with the private university.

The faculty here is just amazing, teachers are always ready to help and you can share everything you want with them, ihe feels like a second home. There is 5 department in home science. 1-food and nutrition. 2 human development. 3- resource management. 4 communication. 5 fashion and textile. Of which we can select any of the departments for specialisation as per your interest and grades in previous semesters. This course provides a variety of scope we have a lot of options to choose from and know our interest. The crowd here is awesome, helpful but in every college, there is some good and bad so it's completely on you. Teachers are well qualified and knowledgeable with many contacts they can help you get internships. Semester examinations are held here for a total of 6 semesters, if you study well and attend all the classes then one can easily score well.

Campus Life

The annual fest organised by the college is feria, but I prefer the fest of other colleges of du.

Infrastructure is not so good. At the peak time of the semester, there is a lack of classrooms to take a class. We students have to look for available and empty spots. Classrooms assigned clashes most of the time. There is scope for students to join NSS and NCC. There are also yoga and aerobic classes, open for all courses to join. Also, students get refreshments and coupons for participating in sports activities. There is a small canteen where you can sit with your friends and have a chit-chat. Though the quality of food is not good in the canteen. There is an eco-club adjacent to the college for recreation. One might get amazing photography in the college as it is full of greenery. Fest is organized once a year. The only place where you can enjoy air conditioning is the library. The library is small yet nice. Though there is less number of books to issue. There are intra-college competitions that take place but their results are not declared as such.

Course Curriculum Overview

The college consists of good quality teachers. But permanent teachers are less as compared to overall teachers. Teachers in the home science department are very experienced, educated, helpful, and friendly at the same time. The student's ratio is quite low, hence teachers give provide proper attention to the students. Exams take place timely as scheduled by Delhi University. The marking scheme is also as per university guidelines. It is very easier to pass the exams if you attend the classes wholeheartedly and attentively.
