Faculty

Learning experience was so nice & amazing with our faculty as well as visiting faculty in graduation. The teaching & mentorship of Dr. Dhananjay Chopra sir was awesome . We interact with our professor's & teacher regularly they were amazing & always kind to us. While pursuing masters we've only 3 teachers & after months only 1 teacher were teach us but there only mentorship was amazing & memorable..Sunil Umrao sir let us fly & let us feel that we can do anything we want to do. We hardly interact any teachers, in the Batch of 2021-2023 there were only one teacher who guide us, teach us & let us live the life in exploring ways!

Course Curriculum Overview

I was a student with a keen interest in Media and as well as in Photography, and this University was the only university with good facilities as well as great faculty members. The faculty members are so supportive and helpful. The teaching methods of the faculty are very very good, mostly they teach you with practical sessions where you can learn various things easily. Each Faculty Member is highly qualified and has vast knowledge and experience in teaching. In each Semester there was a sessional exam and a main semester exam with viva and practical. The exam level was moderate

Fees and Financial Aid

The annual fee for the course in media studies is around 50 thousand. And additional fee is applicable for hostel allotments. The Fees is slightly on a high end value to the cost of study. The college doesn't have its own scholarship program..but is eligible for state's govt. Scholarship..the course doesn't have any on campus placement in general..and no stipend for the bachelor degree.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course and curriculum of the course are so well designed and structured that it covers almost all the realm of journalism be it photography, videography, the Indian government, economy, understanding news, or anything else. It will not only make you learn about journalism but instead will make uh grow as an individual. Talking about faculty, so the faculty is not up to the mark as there are not enough professors, and the authority often invites visiting faculty for lectures. The teaching method is quite advanced as they allow students to work on high-end equipment.

Campus Life

Life here at the campus is very soothing. The touch of student politics adds an extra flavor to it. Students here are quite involved in the student politics and they are often seen indulged in protests and all. We have got wifi in our complete campus. The campus holds extremely rich library and playing grounds. Other than that, there is no light life here in prayagraj so one can only sleep during the night. Talking about the hostels, one can enjoy the real essence of life here in university hostels.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure is between 65000 to 70000 and the scholarship is provided to those students who were excellent over their 3 years both in academic as well as co-curricular. The internship is to be done during the month of April - May which is compulsory for my course.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course is designed beautifully. I did a triple major course and the faculty over there is very helpful. The qualification of all teachers in the department was Ph.D. The exams were moderate but for some subjects, it was difficult to pass.

Course Curriculum Overview

My course was Bachelor of Arts in Media Studies and I must say this is the best Institute under the University of Allahabad where you can get both theoretical as well as practical knowledge. Workshops and summer classes, as well as industrial visits offered by the center, helps a student to understand how everything works. Industrial visits in the companies like Akashwani, Amar Ujala, Doordarshan, etc. also workshops are held under Sarita Brara (journalist), Rehan Fazal (Radio Journalist BBC), Umesh Gogna (freelance photographer) and many more. The students are first introduced to Language both Hindi and English and how the translations are done, then introduction to photography and are given assignments to create a portfolio after which students are taught how to use applications like MS word, Coral Draw, Quark Express in which newspapers formats are made, also how photo editing, audio editing and video editing is done with the help of applications like Adobe Photoshop Lightroom CC, Adobe Audition, Adobe Premiere Pro, etc. There is also a mac lab where students are allowed to edit videos for documentary and film on MAC. Students are taught how to report, how to take interviews and personality development is done. Pattern of examination is there’s two sessionals per semester and then semester exams are held. In the last semester students are given a group project of making a documentary as well as writing a book along with internship of which students are required to show the certificate and viva is done based on the documentary.

Admission

I chose the Institute of Professional studies which is under University of Allahabad. Institute of professional studies have four centres under it i.e. Centre of Media studies Centre of Fashion Design and Technology Centre of food Technology Centre of computer technology To get in these you need to fill the form which generally comes out in May. Then you’ll have to take an entrance examination which is generally held in June after which the result will be out on the website where you can check if you are selected for an interview, if yes then you need to check the date on which your interview is held generally it is held in July. In the interview you need to carry your documents like marksheets of matriculation and other certificates. You need to get prepared with some relatable questions which are asked by the administration. If your interview goes right then you can check the final list on college or on the website, after getting selected you’ll be called for getting the registration done and as Institute of Professional Studies have a uniform, you’ll be required to get your measurements done. Before the college starts Induction classes are held at the auditorium of Centre of Food Technology where you need to introduce yourself and the details of the course are given in short then they’ll handover you the books inside bag along with ID card and uniform. Then an orientation class is held where you are introduced to the faculty of your centre and the subject they are going to teach. Then in August the new batch starts.
