About ACRI
Agricultural College and Research Institute, Thoothukudi is a public institute for degree and research programs in agriculture. The college was initiated as the 3rd constituent college of the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University. Initially, Agricultural College and Research Institute, Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu functioned in a building of MDT Hindu College, Pettai in Turnelveli, which was rented. However, lands and buildings were acquired from the State Seed Farm and the college was subsequently shifted in the new campus during the year 1986 - 87. Now, the entire campus is expanded at Killikulam. Dr. V. Subramanian is the Dean in-charge of the college. In the year 1989, the college got upgraded to its current status. It even started offering Post-graduate programs beginning from the year 1990. The very first batch of Bachelor of Science, Agriculture graduates passed out in the year 1988. I chose this college for its greenish environment and the faculty It is one of the oldest colleges of TNAU I was astonished to its natural aesthetics Admission is carried out yearly based on the 12th marks and verification done in TNAU

- The surroundings are clean and greenish.College is surrounded by mountains
- Staffs are very kind and polite. They take care of students

- Mess food is not that much good but okay
- Hostel facilities are not good. Small rooms are not available.
Admission:
TNAU based on 12th marks the admission is processed. Only only biology students in 12th are eligible for agri . The cutoff for BC is 189 to 192.5 ... Certificate verification and admission is done at TNAU Coimbatore commonly.. More fieldworks are available and this is the biggest campus in TNAU

- The first thing that it was a govt college and hence the fee Structure is less as compared to other colleges
- Senior junior interaction is very friendly
Dislikes
- This college is far away from city.So that we could travel more to buy anything we want.
- Transport facility is also something less
Admission:
The admission for this college is under TNAU Counselling for TN students and under ICAR Examination for All India Students. The eligibility for this course is that the students should get more than 50% in 12th board exam to apply TNAU Counselling. The cutoff of the students should be greater than 190 for general,188 for SC & ST and more than 182 for Sports quota. I prefer this college because of its ranking.

yes we will be provided with more outdoor classes where we could gain more experiance. Course has been updated recently and exam pattern has been changed in order to improving students knowledge and practical knowledge

The faculty is best but the academic schedule was not so good,the courses per sem is 12 and sometimes it is tuff to handle and the syllabus was high i think but all over we have tight schedule classes timings from 7.30 am to 5.30 pm

The syllabus is well updated catering new scientific advances. In the final year we have RAWE and other internship program (vary with every department) giving us more exposure to industries and farmer lives. Faculties are well educated, most of them holding a doctorate degree.

Our course is updated very much. We have industrial exposure from first semester onwards. The facilities are very nice and I think prof. Subramanian is very good professor. He is always motivative and jovial person.
Admission:
I chose AC&RI, coimbatore campus because of its reputation. Basically I'm interested in Science, Agriculture and economics,and our course Agribusiness management matched with my interest so i opted the same. The location of the college (coimbatore) influenced me to join there.
