Anonymous's Review On Agricultural College And Research Institute - [ACRI], Thoothukudi

I chose AC&RI, coimbatore campus because of its reputation. Basically I'm interested in Science, Agriculture and economics,and our course Agribusiness management matched with my interest so i opted the same. The location of the college (coimbatore) influenced me to join there.

Our course (Agribusiness Management) curriculum was well framed according to the existing practices. Moreover, our course syllabus is an updated and an advanced combination of Agriculture and management studies. It encomprised of agriculture subjects like Agronomy, plant breeding and genetics, Pathology, Entomology, Soil science, Microbiology, biotechnology, etc and Management subjects like Managerial economics, Marketing management, Supply Chain Management, Food business management, HRM, Organizational behaviour ans many more interesting subjects along with yoga, physical education training and NSS/NCC. Also we had a very good Industrial exposure all over India. There will be atleast 4-5 IV's per semester. During the 3rd academic year students will be taken for "TamilNadu industrial tour" for 7 days and during the 4th academic year, students will be taken for "All India Tour" for 21 days. Mostly the Agriculture and food based industries and the Research Institutes will be visited during the tours. The faculties are very intellectual and student-friendly.

Yeah ! I did internship for 2 months in dairy based start-up "Pannai produce" in coimbatore.

Placements and job opportunities are very good. 70% of the students get placed after UG, remaining opt for higher studies, Govt. Exams. The placement process is based on the CGPA and personal interview. The average CTC is Rs.3,60,000 and the highest CTC is Rs.4,80,000. Dr.Sylendra Babu IPS, Iraianbhu IAS, Ram Sundar IFS are our notable alumni. And most of the alumni are placed in Agri-input sector companies and FMCG companies. Also some of them have started their own ventures.

The Campus life was so memorable and cherishable. I thoroughly enjoyed those days. The events conducted in our college are Agronova, Bioconcorrenza, Prabandhaz, Horti utsav by the students of the Department of Agriculture, Biotechnology, AgriBusiness Management and Horticulture respectively. Apart from this we celebrate Republic day, Muthamizh vizha, Sangamithra and Hostel day once in a year. Also there will be sport events like Inter college tournament. Camps and awareness programmes will be held by the students of NSS.

First graduate scholarship and category-based scholarship will be provided to the students by the Government since our college is a Govt. Institute. I availed both the scholarships which finacially supported me a lot.

Our campus is spread over 500 acres of land with an awesome infrastructure of the iconic RI building, Research laboratories, soil testing laboratories, Incubators, Research and observation fields, Insect museum, orchard, Library with e-resource and advanced facilities, wifi zone, Auditorium, Convocation hall, playing ground, swimming pool, indoor stadium, gym, canteen, cafeteria, a seperate hostel and Mess for girls and boys of UG, PG, Ph.D. Also we have a worship place (temple, church, Mosque) within our campus.

The hostel infrastructure is very good with water, electricity, reading room and dinning facility. It is very spacious. 3-4 students will be alloted for a room. There is a separate hostel for girls and boys of UG, PG and Ph.D. For each batch, there will be 2-3 Residential Tutors and 4 care takers. Hostel fee will be included in the semester fees. And on an average Rs.3000 per month has to be paid for meals.
