Likes

There are many opportunity and scholarship available for students and college do financial support for ews student.
The faculty is very good, they help you with every doubt you have and clear that.
They held food festivals and various types of cultural events on their campus and it was quite fun and interesting to be a part of that.

Dislikes

College authorities should have a students union to hear the problems of the students collectively. A student union acts as a mouth for the students to speak out their problems and simultaneously find their solutions.
I was quite disappointed about the placement they don't give us placements after bsc in microbiology
There is no fest and function and also there is no space to hear students want

Good To See

Likes

Friendly culture and common room for relaxing and break.
Cantene with good food and affordable prices.
A worship area for those who are religious.

Dislikes

Which i dislike most is timing of the college.
You cant go outside of the college during breat prieod.
Too much deciplined for the student during break.

Actually I love nature thats why I chose this course Zoology (Hons). With this course I will know about the trees and flower and their activities, about their nature how they grow and how they feed himself.

The environment is pretty good, we have libraries & thise are really yoo good
Honorary Professors and seniors aree really good.. They always help us in study and other co-curriculum
Practical classes are very good. we got individual things to do.

Since childhood I was attracted to nature,so i choose this course and the very girst Scottish is everyone's first priority.. This is like a dream that i get a chance in this college. Our college's exam is conduct on the basis of Calcutta University's CCF syllabus.

Scattered campus building, low number of washroom
No college fests, some extracurricular clubs are inactive

Course Curriculum Overview:

I'm happy zoology as my major honours and microbiology as minor for my first two semesters and botany as the next. Interdisciplinary courses are offered and can be chosen by the students, each one per semester for three consecutive semesters. Skill enhancement courses, constitutional value courses, and language courses are also available.

3 years in SCC after 2 years of covid

Likes

Highly qualified teachers to assist you on any field.
Personal guidance if required for students
Good laboratory as compared to the surrounding colleges

Dislikes

Less number of co-curricular activities and participation
No intercollege or intra college competitions to boosts team skills and adjustment
Lack of sports facilities and opportunities

Course Curriculum Overview:

The calcutta university curriculum is one of the toughest and broadest in thr nation which allows students to create a strong base from the start for national exams. After every 6 months there's a university exam prior to which the college conducts internal exams which prepares students. The final sgpa is calculated on an average of all 6 semester. Difficulty level is moderate.

My overall experience in Scottish Church College, University of Calcutta, Kolkata

Likes

The college has a very strict discipline, with 75 percent attendance. There is no any scope for indiscipline.
The faculty is very helpful and qualified and teach very well. They help you in any way possible and are even ready to clear your doubts
There are always many extracurricular activities going on in the college in which you are encouraged to join and contribute actively to the clubs. People are always participating in events and winning, which makes you feel good.

Dislikes

The placement cell could have been more active. The placement cell is decent, the package offered is also decent
The course completion time is too small. Considering the huge syllabus of University of Calcutta

Placement Experience:

There is a placement cell which is active and sometimes holds seminars on behalf of different companies. Students from sem 5 , who have cleared the previous semesters can sit for placements. ICICI Prudential, Bajaj Finance, Aditya Birla Finance, TCS, Wipro, Cognizant, EY, HDFC Bank, visit for recruitment. The average CTC is 4 to 5 LPA, the highest CTC last year was 9 LPA offered by HDFC Finance.

A closer look into the campus life in Scottish

Likes

Faculty is excellent, high quality labs, availablity of most of the instruments and reagents, air conditioned class rooms.
Overall system is excellent, easy and fast official processes
1 educational tour is also done during 5th semester

Dislikes

Admission as well as Semester fees are high somewhat than other departments.
No intrinsic opportunity of any summer internships

Course Curriculum Overview:

In this course various fields of biology are explored, leads to appearance of many opportunities for the master's degree. Regular practical classes helps to gain in hand experience. Viva voce helps to gain confidence among students. Exams are moderate level of difficulty, also internal class tests are conducted for preparation.

It was good to be a part of that college

Likes

The environment was good for studying and building a career
They always take standard people who are serious about their study. So you will get good batchmates.
The teachers are very helpful and supportive and they held weekly therapy sessions so that you can have a good mental health.

Dislikes

I was quite disappointed about the placement they don't give us placements after bsc in microbiology
It was difficult to get hostel so I had to travel 2 hours to reach there.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would say the course is good but you have to opt for masters and PhD to get a good placement. After bsc there's not any placement. The curriculum was basically practical and theoretical based. But I think it should be more practical so that we can get a job after doing bsc. The teaching method was good I didn't have any problem with that. As it was under Calcutta University so the exam questions were too difficult, sometimes it came out of our syllabus , i think they should change this a little bit .

This college has good faculties.The teachers are well educated and very humble .they are very cooperative.

This college has no student association who will arrange programme like Live music concert or others.

The course curriculum is totally good. Teachers give education with real world examples while studying. So, this is normal that they will take a serious exam and it is difficult. There is don't need to correction of this course.

The faculty is cooperative and always ready to help any students that needs it
The food is good and cheap from the canteen
Even the washroom is clean and security of the college is tight

Dislikes

The campus is way too much small according to the student present
The playground of the campus is not within the campus rather a little far away from it
The road outside of the college isn't that clean or maintained

I did not like the semester timing. because even semester like 2, 4, 6 does not get 6 months for studying and exams.

The new nep system for my subject microbiology is quite relevant. it is supposed to have internship and research according to 4-year program. the syllabus overall is convenient. teaching method is good and faculty are well advanced.
