The curriculum is updated currently according to NEP and thus is kind of using the up to date stuff, the books referred are old but the techniques and teaching are still being used to this day, Biotechnology as a field grows everyday and only the basics can be covered during the college hours are its a very vast field, But due to college providing access to research papers and information about all the bases required to read such papers it becomes more easier, Bio informics could overall get a update as no Computers are present in the department, Some of 100s of Microscope need to get repaired, Teaching overall is wonderful

Course curriculum is well designed but now it has changed and the degree has become of 4 years. More subjects may be added now to prepare student for the real world. Some of commerce topics that is just needed are also added to the curriculum. Semester exams are mid in difficulty level and consisted of main semester exam and a unit text for each semester.
As I wanted to go into the research field and I was keenly interested in this subject so I opted for it. The course curriculum is not so difficult but it is an interesting one. The faculty members are highly qualified and helpful. There are 4 faculty members which taught us and also there is a very good support staff who helped us during the practical sessions. There are semester based examinations conducted in the college and the paper correction is a strict one.
Biotechnology has huge scope worldwide, which is why I chose this course. The approximate intake of students is 30 per batch. The teaching faculty includes 8 associated professors, 4 lab assistants. There are separate laboratories for BSc and MSc students. All the professors are PhD degree holders and have a good teaching method. Semesters are held after 4-5 months in a 10-month curriculum. Internal assessments are taken in the form of short tests and assignments. Practicals are conducted before the semesters usually. The exams ensure levels of difficulty from easy to moderate to difficult.
I chose this course because I was confused between pursuing biology and pursuing engineering. Biotechnology is an amalgamation of both these fields and hence seemed like the perfect choice. The faculty for the biotechnology department is like a small family. There are just 4-5 permanent teachers and 2-3 visiting faculty. They offer school like treatment as they know everyone individually cause the student count is also around 30. The student population consist a large number of females and the same is observed in the faculty members. The entire faculty is highly qualified and most of them have very effective teaching methods. They conduct tests and look after the students individually. There is a semester pattern, 2 semesters and 2 internals per year. The difficulty level is quite easy. Passing isn't a herculean task.
I chose this course due to the huge scope and liking for Biotechnology.Kelkar college is one of the best colleges recognized in the Mumbai suburban region with a "star college scheme" status of one of 4 colleges in Mumbai by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) of the Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India. It has NAAC A grade accreditation. It became Autonomous in the year 2020. The faculty-student ratio is 5/30 i.e 1/6. So faculty needs to be improved. Students batch size for 1 year is 30 students. B.Sc Biotechnology course is a 3 years full-time degree course . All the faculties are well experienced with Doctorates and many publications with specialization in Molecular Biology, Immunology, Molecular Microbiology, Botany, Biochemistry, Plant Biotechnology, etc.
The course BSC botany is very good here. Faculty is friendly and very knowledgeable. The conduct quite a good tests and Assignments and during this lockdown they have taught very nicely. Would recommend this college
The college is excellent in overall education and research. The college is now autonomous. The college holds 33 faculty with Phd and 10 research guides. The college organises industrial visit for the students.
I was in the same college for my plus 2 years and the experience was great. The teaching staff was very good at covering and completing the course. Industrial visits in for of one day picnics were managed every academic year. So hopefully the experience will remain the same for my degree college year.
I've choose botany and chemistry for SYBSc. The faculty is really helpful and great. Takes interested in overall progress. Teaching is great. Lab facilities are good. Curriculum is slightly modified die to autonomy.
