Admission to GEC is based on the GCET exam, with selections made on merit, primarily focusing on branches like Computer Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication, and Mechanical Engineering. The college is government-funded, offering low tuition fees of 20,000 Rs per semester compared to other institutions charging 55,000 Rs. Hostel costs are affordable, and certain categories of students may have their tuition waived. While GEC does not provide internships, students can independently secure them for 2-3 weeks.
Placement opportunities commence from the 6th semester, requiring a minimum 60% aggregate. Students are limited to two job offers during placements. Although placement rates fluctuate annually, they were delayed due to COVID-19. Many companies do offer internships, either on-campus or off-campus. Scholarships are available for high-achieving, financially disadvantaged, and female students, with the latter eligible for up to 60,000 Rs per semester if they maintain good performance. Library books are free, and the tuition fee for general category students is around 27,000 Rs per semester, with a semester exam fee of about 3,800 Rs.
Fees slightly increase each semester, and verification for failed exams is costly at 550 Rs, rising each semester. Faculty is mainly composed of recent graduates, resulting in knowledgeable yet less effective teaching due to a lack of experience.
