In our college, we have a B.Tech course and it is autonomous, so it follows its own rules and regulations. In our college, 60% of the work is focused on practical learning.
Talking about placements, almost all of my batch mates have been placed in good companies with a good salary package.

Dislikes

It does not specifically provide internships, but one internship is compulsory for all students.
Students below a pre-defined poverty line can apply for a scholarship. If approved, they are only required to pay 50% of their fees. Additionally, there are tuition fee waiver schemes available for the very poor students

The truth about the GOA COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING

The faculty at Goa engineering college are really good. Each of the senior professor has a master's or PhD from a reputed institute and their experience in the field makes them even better.
The labs at computer and IT department are well maintained and air-conditioned.

Dislikes

Travelling at Goa engineering college for students who live more than 40km away from the college is very difficult. Most of the students rely on KTC bus service which is always overcrowded and the chances of getting a seat is very low
This college has fewer amount of fests as compared to other private colleges

Placement Experience:

The placement at my college are decent. Students from Computer and IT department easily get placed at a company. The companies that frequently visit Goa engineering college are persistent, one shield, Infosys, tcs , Wipro etc . Each year there are around 300 offers received in the entire college. The highest package a student has got is 15lakhs per annum from TurtleShell. The average package is 6 LPA. Around 50% od the students get placed. I wish to work at a product based tech company after my graduation.

After eight semesters you become eligible for the placement drive Highest average package in the civil engineering department is 3 lakh not more than this. Very less amount of students get placement in this department

My College review from a Students Perspective

Likes

Our college has a vast campus area as compared to other colleges and proper ground, flora and well organised area for different departments.
It has a good faculty of professors who a experienced and have a great knowledge to share.

Dislikes

The labs are little laid back in time with old equipments some of which doesn't work properly.
The canteen food needs to be a little better and the dinning area outside canteen is not good and hygienic.

Placement Experience:

The 8th semester students gets eligible for the placements and the placement starts after the first internal exams and most of the companies visiting I like designing site engineers or plant quality engineer in which day higher user training and the average pay is 15000. On an average 12 to 15 companies come in the college for placements for each department and around 70% students gets placed and the remaining I helped by the teachers to get place in the companies which they know or a familiar with.

Review of a average civil engineering student

Likes

Got good surroundings, canteen is good, lot of trees and nature, surrounded with cats and pets
Teachers are very professional and nice to everyone, assignments and lab work are done correctly, you get lot of practical work knowledge and site visits

Dislikes

No proper waterproofing in some buildings
No drinking water available, sometimes there are no water in washrooms

Placement Experience:

After 7th semester you are eligible for placements by the end of 8th semester companies will be approaching college and jobs will be offered Different companies approach and they take interviews according to how many students enrolled for their company For me different companies like ultra tech and deep builders and assmass construction approached and offered of average of 20 to 25,000 salary as a beginner Highest average package would be around 35,000 and lowest is around 15,000 Around 70 to 85% students gets placement. Rest of the students mostly go for their own business or different private companies My plan after the degree is to continue with my dad's business which is road work/ pwd contractor

The campus is amezing there is lot of space
The canteen is amezing and there are also many food services nearby

Dislikes

The school bus are not proper there are only 3 working school bus's
Lab facility's are poor very old gadgets are used

I would say that my course have more opportunities then the others in future, it is a well known course across the world and there are many countries provided good jobs to VLSI engineers so its satisfying

GEC GOA's best college

Likes

The best college in Goa with some of the best teachers
Environment is very good as well as the campus

Dislikes

The infrastructure is old but they are trying to upgrade
Some teachers don't even know what they are teaching

My interest in information technology made my decision to choose this field Yeah about the curriculum it's not that so its too old fashioned so it's nod good Yeah teaching methods are improving but government should try to improve their curriculum so we can learn new things It's good but we don't get enough break it's like exam go more than one month

Getting Into College

Likes

The location of our campus is at hilly area which is in Ponda, Farmagudi. The view over here is excellent and talking about the campus its beautiful as it is surrounded by nature . The size of all the department is descent and very great place too.
The second thing i like is that is our library which is the second largest library in goa after goa University. So any one who needs latest books or wants to prepare for the exams and even for those who love reading stuffs .

Dislikes

The first thing i dislike is the syllabus, you are provided with the old regular portion . No latest technologies are thought. Its a like studying one day before exam and passing and no knowledge stuff that u need to survive in this era of ai
Second thing is practical knowledge. No one cares about your practicals here, you are just given the problem statement and u have start implementing it. We are never thought why is it important or how to improve it.

Course Curriculum Overview:

There are many subjects which are really good to build your fundamentals as an engineer. bit there are many subjects which are just waste of time, even the students don't attend those lectures. But the core subjects like DSA , OS, OOPS, CN , OPERATING SYSTEMS are there in your curriculum and you are widely asked questions on these topics for the interview. This just for IT department

College Life in GEC

Likes

The college campus is really good. GEC has a different vibe all together.

Dislikes

Some basic facilities in hostels were not good. Also sometimes street lights did not use to work.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is slightly outdated but its the basics that are needed to be covered so I would not complain much about it. Curriculum could be slightly more industry-focused as many students lack the practical knowledge of whats needed in the industry.

My college has best infrastructure in form of classrooms,labs etc

Currently from my batch onwards curriculum and syllabus is made very precise. Only the relevent things which are most important are taught and unnecessary things are removed from the previous syllabus.

Gec in a nutshell

Likes
