GEC Goa Admission 2025

GEC Goa admissions are based on marks obtained in the relevant entrance examination. For admission to BE programs, students must qualify for GCET (Goa Common Entrance Test) along with 45% in the last high school qualifying exam.

Admissions to the ME program require applicants to qualify for the GATE exam and have a bachelor’s degree in the relevant field of engineering. Additionally, seats for the SC/ ST/ OBC category are reserved in all UG/PG courses as per the guidelines of the Government of Goa.

GEC Goa Campus

GEC Goa Campus has a large and peaceful environment located in Ponda, Goa. The GEC Goa campus is spread over 268 acres and provides a clean and calm environment for students. GEC Goa has a well-equipped Computing Centre with more than 80 working computers and a big cafeteria, and an auditorium where the college organizes different events, activities, and seminars for students.

Library: GEC Goa has one of the biggest libraries among educational institutions in the state of Goa, catering for the needs of more than 2200 students and 330 staff. The total area of the library building is 1911 square meters. The Library currently holds 95528 books and the Springer E-book Consortium. It has approximately 100 Journals of National and International acclaim. The Institute has a unique Book Bank facility which provides 26 books to each student for the year.

Seminar Hall: The department features a state-of-the-art Seminar Hall with a seating capacity of 88. It is well-equipped with an LCD projector, multimedia systems, and internet connectivity.

Computer Labs: The Civil Engineering Department consists of computer laboratories consisting of 25 computers and a drawing hall. The Civil Engineering Department has a state-of-the-art meeting room, providing a professional setting for departmental discussions and planning.

GEC Goa Hostel

GEC Goa provides hostel facilities for the students. The institute provides residential accommodation facilities for UG & PG students. There are five hostels for boys with an intake capacity of 120 each on a sharing basis. There are two hostels for girls with a total intake capacity of more than 280. All hostels have independent mess facilities & are provided with internet Wi-Fi connections. As per our research, the hostel fee for male and female students at the GEC Goa is INR 7,100 per semester.

It has a good faculty of professors who a experienced and have a great knowledge to share.
Great connect with companies which helps the students to get their placements.
I liked efforts taken by faculties, infrastructure, events, participation of students in different events. all the students are quite helpful, the canteen food and hostle food is good.

Canteen are not too good and food is unhealthy
The first thing i dislike is the syllabus, you are provided with the old regular portion . No latest technologies are thought. Its a like studying one day before exam and passing and no knowledge stuff that u need to survive in this era of ai

College background is also good enoughh.
First of all it was government college..

Dislikes

It is a long distance to cover everyday.
Don't have a proper ground to play around

As it was a government college my 1st priority was to get admission here. And I was eligible for this college as of GCet score. I only apealled for this college. And didn't tried in others as I got seat.

Likes

The campus is good, lots of air and good weather. Good facilities, decent food spots around and faculties are also good mostly. Masters courses are available in some departments.

Dislikes

There are cows roaming around as well as dogs so there is a lot of rubbish on the roads. The college is situated on a hill so getting there is a challenge for bus travellers, Canteen is horrible, so is the workshop. Security is non existent.
Anyone can come during college hours and even kill you and nobody will do anything.

Admission:

I don't need to answer this in detail, simple answer is that it is the only Government Engineering College in Goa. There is NIT and IIT, both in same campus as my college along with ITI. I didn't get admission into IIT and NIT and ITI who even wants to go so I took admission into GEC. That too I wanted Computer Engineering but didn't get it due to my rank thus I opted for IT because the syllabus is more or less the same for both the branches and just the order of subjects is different. What we have now, they'll have later on in the future semesters and vice versa.

I had applied for amity but fid t had that much money i thought of getting a scholarship but i didnt get i chose this college because i knew the teaching was prettyy good I didnt get rejected from other colleges The admission process is simple U have to write a gorm n submit to the DTE then merit list will come and then ull get to choose . Depends on the number of seats available.

The truth about the GOA COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING

Likes

Each department has their own auditorium rather than a common auditorium.This helps in conducting multiple events at once
The labs at computer and IT department are well maintained and air-conditioned.

Dislikes

Few of the labs and workshops use old equipment. Many of the equipments don't work and a "Under maintenance" poster has been pasted on the machines.
Travelling at Goa engineering college for students who live more than 40km away from the college is very difficult. Most of the students rely on KTC bus service which is always overcrowded and the chances of getting a seat is very low

Admission:

I got a seat at Vellore institute of technology, Bhopal in the CSE branch. But I chose not to study at VIT bhopal as the college is really crowded and as the colleges is privately owned the stakeholders are money minded they try to take money from students in every possible way.Also my seniors had warned me about the toxic environment at VIT Bhopal. I didn't get rejection from any colleges but I failed to get a good enough score to get CSE at MIT Manipal and i could only get mechanical engineering in which I want intrested. My college takes admission based on JEE rank. Each students has to apply at the Directorate of technical education, Goa online portal. After which a merit list is rolled out. Offline counseling takes place where students can select a branch based on their merit

12th pass with Cleaning jee according to new rules. Only fees concession for St /school/Obc General should pay total fees increase every year. Exam every 6 month conducted means semester exams. Year wise in this process is the working style of govt employees

My College review from a Students Perspective

Our college has a vast campus area as compared to other colleges and proper ground, flora and well organised area for different departments.
It provides us with lot other extra curricular activities in sports and indoors and have various events.

Dislikes

The labs are little laid back in time with old equipments some of which doesn't work properly.
The transportation to our college is only twice a day for arriving and departing, of left early than you have to walk 2-3 km to reach a bus stand.

Admission:

For the admission we submitted our documents in the college like birth certificate bonnified certificate from school and higher secondary and other documents. The payment for the admission was done online in the college through card. To get admission you have to apply for the GCET exam and you should be rank in 1500. The computer and IT gets first filled. The seats are based on your rank. The exam are held each year and few days after the result the admission starts.

Got good surroundings, canteen is good, lot of trees and nature, surrounded with cats and pets

Easily eligible for most of the courses, especially in civil and mechanical Appetitions odd found online after giving gcet exams which is especially for goan students all of the application fees and dates are will be announced online Resolution benefits are for the people who are from CSP category which are the students from northeast mostly You can also get seed from management Every year and it is comparatively very easy. Subjects contains physics, chemistry, maths There's no requirement for admission improvements since it's already in a good position for the students to apply. It is comparatively easier than even some of the schools

4 Years of Self Learnings and Enjoyment

Admission:

The admission to degree colleges is done on the basis of an exam called GCET Goa Common Entrance Test. This is changed from this year to JEE and from hence admission will be considered from jee score of candidates. So for GCET we had to answer PCM questions, they were mcqs and there was no negative marking. For every correct ans 1 marks was credited. During my admission it was all done online because of COVID 19 we could find all forms and even the admission forms and lists online. We only had to go to college for confirmation of the seat and payment of fees once.

Admission:

During fee payment, there were long queues and cashier was harsh. Freeing up admissions for students across the country would make college a diverse place to study and live. Reservation benefits are also there for people from government background or central employeesm Exam system stresses more in rote learning than application of knowledge and correction is strict.

Yes, admission for the courses is done on the basis of merit & cut-off in the Entrance exams. For B.E., one has to qualify for the GCET (Goa Common Entrance Test) entrance, and for M.E., one has to qualify for GATE.

Yes, Computer Science Engineering is offered in Goa College of Engineering under B.Tech. The total fee of the course is 2,33,500. The first-year fee is INR 59,500. The second, third and fourth-year fees are the same INR 58,000.

Goa College of Engineering does not offer a Mining branch to the students. Instead of this, the college offers various other specialisations such as Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Information Technology.
