Santa Clara University Admission 2027
Santa Clara University runs three graduate intakes across a quarter calendar. Fall (September) is the primary intake for Indian applicants, with Winter (January) and Spring (April) available for selected engineering and business master’s tracks.
Santa Clara University PG Admission Dates 2027
Business master’s programmes follow rounded deadlines by quarter, while Engineering keeps a single international deadline per intake. Indian applicants should treat the international deadline as the applicable date.
| Milestone | Date | Notes for Indian Applicants |
|---|---|---|
| Leavey Business Fall 2027 Round 1 | 1 April 2027 | Applies to on-campus MBA, MSBA, MSF, MSIS, MSMK |
| Leavey Business Fall 2027 Round 2 | 1 June 2027 | Final round for on-campus master’s tracks |
| Engineering Fall 2027 (International) | 1 June 2027 | Firm deadline; no rolling window after this date |
| Engineering Winter 2027 (International) | 1 October 2026 | Closing soon; January 2027 start |
| WES credential verification lead time | Start 6 to 8 weeks before deadline | Course-by-course evaluation required for Indian transcripts |
Planning note: Round 1 deadlines carry a higher merit-scholarship hit rate at Leavey. Indian applicants targeting the STEM MSBA or MSIS should aim for the April 2027 window and start WES verification by mid-February to keep the transcript file on time. Compare timelines across other MBA universities in USA before locking a single target.

Santa Clara University Admission Requirements for Indian Applicants 2027
Santa Clara University applies programme-specific academic bars for Indian applicants, with English proficiency and credential verification treated as universal gates.
PG Requirements
- Bachelor’s academic bar: A four-year Indian bachelor’s degree with a minimum CGPA of 6.0/10 (60%) is recommended for master’s admission; STEM master’s tracks lean toward 6.5/10 or higher.
- English proficiency (Engineering): TOEFL iBT 79 to 80, IELTS 6.5, or Duolingo 105 to 110. Waived for degrees from institutions in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Anglophone Canada, Ireland, or New Zealand awarded within the last four years.
- English proficiency (Leavey Business): TOEFL iBT 90, IELTS 6.5, or Duolingo 110. Scores remain valid for two years.
- Credential verification: WES course-by-course evaluation mandatory for Indian transcripts; GRE required for PhD and MS Computer Science applicants, waived for other master’s tracks.
UG Requirements
- Class 12 academic bar: CBSE, ISC or state-board Class 12 with strong overall performance; competitive admitted profiles sit in the 82% to 90% band (recommended).
- English proficiency: TOEFL iBT, IELTS or Duolingo scores required for applicants whose secondary schooling was not in English medium.
Key insight: The MS Business Analytics programme uses the new TOEFL iBT band scale of 4.5 (roughly equivalent to a legacy score around 100) alongside IELTS 6.5. Indian applicants sitting the pre-January 2026 legacy TOEFL should confirm which reported scale their admissions committee accepts before submitting scores.
Santa Clara University Acceptance Rate 2027
Santa Clara University reports an undergraduate acceptance rate of 48% (estimated) for the recent admissions cycle, based on Common Data Set information reflected across independent college databases. Master’s admission rates vary widely by programme; Leavey School of Business and STEM engineering tracks run more selective than the university-wide undergraduate rate.
The 48% figure places Santa Clara University in the moderately selective tier among American private national universities. Applicants with strong academics and a clear fit narrative are competitive.
Reality check: The undergraduate rate is a rough guide only. Indian graduate applicants to STEM MS programmes at the School of Engineering typically face a stricter GPA and quantitative-preparation bar than the headline number suggests, and applications submitted in Round 1 carry stronger odds than late Round 2 submissions.

Santa Clara University Campus, Facilities and Student Life
Santa Clara University sits on a 106-acre single campus in Santa Clara city, roughly 40 miles south of San Francisco and adjacent to the headquarters of major Silicon Valley technology employers.
- Location and transit: Santa Clara Caltrain station lies within walking distance; VTA light rail and bus connect to San Jose and Mountain View.
- Housing: On-campus housing is guaranteed for first-year undergraduates; graduate students almost entirely house off-campus in Santa Clara, San Jose or Sunnyvale, with private one-bedroom rents in the $2,200 to $2,900 band.
- Facilities: Harrington Learning Commons and Sobrato Discovery Building anchor the library and STEM lab footprint; the SCU Mission Church and Historic Adobe Lodge date to the university’s 1851 founding.
- Indian community: The Indian Students Association hosts Diwali, Holi and Republic Day events, with active support from Silicon Valley’s large Indian diaspora working at neighbouring tech firms.
What Indian students say: Graduate cohorts describe the campus as compact and safe, with easy weekday access to on-site recruiter events. Off-campus housing hunts start early; most PG students share apartments to cut Silicon Valley rent pressure. Weekend access to San Francisco via Caltrain is a repeat highlight in the Santa Clara University gallery.
Santa Clara University Scholarships 2027
Santa Clara University offers a mix of merit-based institutional awards for undergraduates and school-administered graduate fellowships through Leavey Business, Engineering and Law. Direct need-based aid for international students is limited; most Indian applicants combine partial merit awards with private education loans.
| Scholarship | Type | Award Value | Eligibility | Deadline |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Leavey School of Business Merit Award | Merit, tuition remission | Verify on official page | Automatic consideration for MBA and MS applicants who submit GMAT or GRE scores in Round 1 | 1 April 2027 |
| School of Engineering Graduate Fellowship | Merit | Verify on official page | MS applicants with strong academic and research profile; nomination by faculty | 1 June 2027 |
| Ignatian Scholarship (Undergraduate) | Merit | Verify on official page | Class 12 academic strength, leadership, service record; open to international first-year applicants | 7 January 2027 |
| Provost Scholarship (Undergraduate) | Merit | Verify on official page | Automatic consideration for admitted first-year applicants | 7 January 2027 |
[Source: Santa Clara University Financial Aid and Leavey School of Business official pages]
Planning note: Leavey merit awards are heavily weighted toward Round 1 Business applicants who submit valid GMAT or GRE scores; opting for a test waiver disqualifies applicants from most named awards. Indian PG students should treat the merit-scholarship route and the test-waiver route as mutually exclusive.

The Leavey School of Business Executive MBA holds #11 nationally and #1 in Silicon Valley per U.S. News 2026, and the School of Law is ranked #4 in Intellectual Property Law. The Santa Clara University overview silo tracks trend changes edition by edition.
Key insight: Santa Clara University’s global rank sits well below its U.S. national placement because ranking bodies weight research volume heavily. For Indian recruiters and employer-recognition purposes, the U.S. News national number and the Leavey MBA ranking carry more weight than global tables.

Santa Clara University Placements and Career Outcomes 2027
Santa Clara University’s placement strength for Indian graduate applicants rests on Silicon Valley proximity. The Payscale ranking places SCU at #9 nationally for bachelor’s degree ROI, and Forbes lists it at #12 for Colleges with Highest Earning Graduates.
- Median starting salary (bachelor’s, Payscale): Market median in the $80,000 to $95,000 (₹76 to ₹90 lakh) band; SCU is ranked #9 by Payscale in 2025.
- Engineering post-graduation earnings: The School of Engineering is ranked #10 among U.S. private colleges for average post-graduation salary by the Wall Street Journal.
- Recruiter sectors: Software engineering, product management, data analytics, financial services and consulting; typical hirers are Silicon Valley technology and financial firms headquartered within 10 miles of campus.
- Career support: Leavey Graduate Career Management Center and SCU Career Center run dedicated Indian-student advising through OPT and STEM OPT filing.
- Post-study work visa: STEM-designated MS graduates qualify for the 12-month OPT plus 24-month STEM OPT extension, giving up to 36 months of U.S. work authorisation. Peer feedback is captured in Santa Clara University reviews.
Insider note: Silicon Valley proximity translates into strong Indian alumni networks at Google, Apple, Cisco and NVIDIA, but new-grad hiring in 2025 to 2026 tightened relative to earlier years. Indian MS graduates in Computer Science and Business Analytics report the strongest OPT-to-H1B conversion rates.
Santa Clara University vs Peer Universities
The natural peer set for Indian applicants comparing Santa Clara University spans other California private universities and Jesuit institutions with strong business-and-engineering profiles.
| University | U.S. News National 2026 | Avg Annual PG Fee (USD) | Avg Annual PG Fee (INR lakh) | Differentiator |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Santa Clara University | #59 | $46,944 to $51,768 | 44.83 to 49.44 lakh | Silicon Valley recruiter density and Jesuit teaching focus |
| University of San Francisco | NA | Verify on official page | NA | Downtown San Francisco Jesuit peer with strong tech-adjacent MS tracks |
| Loyola Marymount University | NA | Verify on official page | NA | Los Angeles Jesuit peer; strong film, media and business focus |
| Pepperdine University | NA | Verify on official page | NA | Malibu private with a nationally ranked Graziadio Business School |
| University of Southern California | Top 30 | Verify on official page | NA | Larger research-heavy California private with broader programme range |
Santa Clara University stands out on Silicon Valley placement access and cohort scale; the STEM MS classes stay small enough to preserve high recruiter-to-student ratios at on-campus career events.
Note: Peer figures beyond Santa Clara University require verification on each institution’s official page; U.S. News ranks and PG tuition move each cycle. Use the differentiator column as directional guidance for shortlist framing.
Santa Clara University fits the Indian applicant profile with a strong undergraduate record, a STEM or business orientation, and the financial capacity to fund $105,000 to $118,000 (₹100 to ₹113 lakh) across a two-year graduate degree. The 36-month OPT plus Silicon Valley recruiter density anchor the return-on-investment case against a market-median starting salary above ₹76 lakh.
Santa Clara University is not the fit for applicants prioritising global rankings above U.S. national reputation, or those seeking large need-based international aid. Rice University or the University of Southern California offer larger research footprints for candidates with a stronger academic profile and equivalent budget.
Santa Clara University FAQs
Ques. What English-taught master’s programmes does Santa Clara University offer for Indian applicants?
Ans. Santa Clara University teaches every master’s programme in English, including MS Computer Science and Engineering, MS Business Analytics, MS Information Systems, MS Financial Analytics, MS Engineering Management and the Evening MBA. Indian applicants do not need an additional language qualification beyond a valid TOEFL, IELTS or Duolingo score, and the English requirement is waived for graduates of Indian institutions where the sole medium of instruction was English within the last four years.
Ques. Can Indian F-1 students work part-time on campus at SCU?
Ans. Yes. F-1 international students at Santa Clara University may work up to 20 hours per week on campus during the academic year and up to 40 hours per week during official school breaks. Off-campus employment requires Curricular Practical Training authorisation once the student completes one full academic year, and STEM-designated master’s graduates qualify for a 24-month OPT STEM extension on top of the standard 12-month OPT window.
Ques. How does the SCU GMAT or GRE waiver work for MSBA applicants?
Ans. Santa Clara University’s MSBA programme grants GMAT or GRE waivers to applicants who demonstrate a strong verifiable quantitative or technical background, typically through prior coursework, professional certifications or work experience. Applicants who take the test waiver route lose eligibility for most Leavey merit scholarships, so candidates chasing tuition remission should plan to submit valid GMAT or GRE scores in Round 1.
Ques. What is the SCU application fee and can Indian students request a waiver?
Ans. Santa Clara University charges a graduate application fee of approximately $65 to $75 per programme; the exact amount varies by school. Fee waivers exist for members of QuestBridge, participants in select recruitment events and applicants who attend official Santa Clara University virtual sessions. Indian applicants without a waiver typically pay through the online portal at the time of submission using an international credit card.
Ques. Which Indian banks and lenders finance an SCU master’s degree?
Ans. State Bank of India, HDFC Credila, Avanse, Auxilo, Prodigy Finance and MPower Financing all extend education loans to admitted Santa Clara University students. MPower and Prodigy do not require an Indian co-signer or collateral, which suits applicants without a family guarantor. Indian public-sector bank loans above INR 50 lakh typically require collateral tied to residential property.
Ques. Does Santa Clara University require a dependent visa financial proof for spouses?
Ans. Yes. Santa Clara University issues F-2 dependent I-20 documents only after the primary F-1 applicant submits proof of additional funding covering the dependent’s living expenses. The Global Engagement Office typically requires evidence of $8,000 to $10,000 per year per dependent in addition to the primary student’s cost of attendance, shown through a bank statement, sponsor affidavit or education loan sanction letter.
Ques. How long do WES transcript evaluations take for SCU applications?
Ans. WES course-by-course evaluations for Indian transcripts take four to six weeks once WES receives every required document, and Indian universities typically take another two to four weeks to dispatch verified transcripts. Indian applicants should begin the WES process at least eight to ten weeks before the Santa Clara University deadline they target. Digital transcript sharing through DigiLocker where accepted can shorten this window.
Ques. Which Indian intakes does Santa Clara University support beyond Fall?
Ans. Santa Clara University supports Winter (January) and Spring (April) intakes for selected engineering master’s programmes and for the Leavey MS Information Systems. Most Indian applicants target the Fall (September) intake because it aligns with the primary hiring cycle for Silicon Valley internships and full-time roles. Winter and Spring intakes suit applicants who missed the Fall deadline or need extra preparation time.

- Curriculum - Everyone had to take some core courses despite what their background was. For people who had already studied those, there was some repetition and unnecessary expenditure.
- Large intakes - The university had a huge intake for Computer Science and related branches which made most lectures Indian heavy in terms of student composition. So, the opportunity to interact with students of other backgrounds reduced.
- High expenditure - Being in the Bay Area, the university tuition fees and even the housing was quite expensive compared to other universities like Indiana University Bloomington, SUNY Buffalo and University of Florida.
Campus Life
- The university has one big campus and small buildings around it. University facilities include a swimming pool, gymnasium, computer labs, a massive and beautiful library, a canteen with dining halls, dormitories, campus health services, a meditation room and lounges.
- I was an active participant in the mindfulness club on campus. Activities include weekly reflections, journaling activities and games.
- There are many clubs on campus that meet regularly and do fun activities—chess club, badminton club, physics club. Students can go to the university gymnasium and play any games that they like.
Fees
- Tuition: 1121$/unit (46 units to be completed for MSCS) Medical insurance fees~$3600/year
- Housing: $1,000/mo per head, including utilities, groceries, electricity and rent.
- Tuition fees increases every year by some percentage (the website has more details)
- Monthly stay: 775$(rent) + 50$(electricity) + 75$(utilities) + 100$(food and groceries)
- The rent depends on what kind of apartment is occupied but other expenses remain more or less the same.

- This college is located in the Silicon Valley which is the best place to be right now given the current job market. There are a lot of companies, startups which located within a few miles of the college.
- The Bay Area weather , is something that feels just like home.
- Can take pretty much any course without much pre requisites which in contrast to other colleges required me to go through a strict pre req courses list.
Dislikes
- The campus size is not that big as compared to other universities (like UC’s ) in California.
- Limited number of on campus jobs.
- No financial support for international students since this is a private university.
Campus Life
- The college has only one campus, the main one in Santa Clara. There is a really big gym with a basketball court, table tennis, badminton courts, a big library, and multiple cafes. There are many clubs that one can join; the Greek life is very prominent here; there really aren't any campus festivals as such but each club hosts their own events, which you are welcome to join.
Fees
- Per credit: 1206$; Total fees for 46 credits: 56k$; Accommodation: 15-16k$ total: 80k$ for 2 years.
- Quarter-Based: International students are required to enrol in a minimum of 8 units each quarter—9839 $ per quarter for academics.
- Monthly Expenses(rent + food) = around 1000$ per month for rent as housing is expensive in the bay area and for food if cooking at home can be done with 200-300$ per month

- Beautiful campus
- Great opportunities for getting an on-campus job (95% of us eventually get one)
- Private university which means having a good teacher to student ratio
Dislikes
- The tuition can be quite expensive as compared to public universities
- Financial aid isn't usually provided by the department (school of engineering)
- The quarter system leads to having only 11 weeks for a course which can be less
Campus Life
- Only 1 main campus with all the department buildings. There's a huge library which also has a lot of on-campus opportunities
- The gym is good with a swimming pool, 3-4 huge soccer fields, baseball fields, tennis courrts, volleyball courts, basketball stadium, and on-campus health center too
- There's an indian grad organization named 'Swades' and they organize a lot of cultural events
Fees
- Tuition is paid every quarter. right now it's $1240 per credit so depending on the number of units you take in a quarter, the tuition is calculated appropriately.
- There's also a $190 grad engineering fee every quarter and one-time annual insurance fee ($3,700) which means for two years, you have to pay the insurance fee twice.
- Depending on the apartments you stay, the monthly rent can be around $700 with electricity and other things like utilities, food can come up to a maximum of $900-$100

- Indian students have a swades club which celebrates all major indian festivals
- There are sports clubs but it would be difficult to get into a as team as the athletes are pretty good at their job
Fees
- The fees keeps changing every year
- Its 1250$ per credit and we are supposed to take 46 credits throughout 2 years of masters
- which amounts to 57,000 + we need to have medical insurance, which is 4000$ per year so the total fees including insurance is 65k usd
- I live off campus; rent for a 2B2B anywhere nearby is around 4000$.
- Monthly expenses apart from rent are $300-350.

- The college provides groceries and essential toiletries which really helps the student.

- Can't really find anything which I didn't like but its too expensive for a private university.
Overview
I opted this university because of the area it was situated in. Bay area is known for its technology industry so it was easier for me to settle down here. The admission process was purely online. Once you meet the requirements provided by the university which is IELTS and your score in bachelors degree, then you are set to get into the university.
Campus Life
Campus life was full of fun, offering a perfect blend of academic rigor and extracurricular activities. The university gives numerous opportunities for students to engage in various activities, make new friends, and create lasting memories. There were a lot of fests happening here like techno fest and a lot of societies were also formed in order to engage students.

Overview
Overall I would say it’s a win win situation as my university is very well recognised here in the Silicon Valley & the alumni’s help a lot! The location is pretty good with almost similar weather conditions as in India, it is a bit exorbitant in terms of location but other than that everything seems to be fine.
Campus Life
Campus has all the necessary amenities & it’s vast, a bit exorbitant but provides all the facilities & is tidy.

- I had personal reasons that made me choose this school, I wanted to stay in Silicon Valley, for a private school, SCU fees is affordable for a foreign student, they had good placement history.
Overview
My overall experience is good so far, there’s a good learning curve- both personally and professionally, when you are in a foreign country with limited resources at your disposal. This makes us creative, hard-working and pro-active. The approach to education in USA is different than what I experienced in India, in the way that it’s more practical, can be tailored to your interest and fun indeed.
Campus Life
Campus infrastructure and extracurricular activities are as good as they can get. We have clubs in each department that cater to the coursework to stay relevant; example Product Club (for those interested in a Product/Project manager career).

- The main factor for me to choose Santa Clara University was the location. Because it is bay area I thought it will help me with the placement and it surely did help a little but did not play a major role as I expected. But the weather conditions in Bay area makes it bearable.
Overview
Overall experience at the university was great. I learned a lot and the faculty and staff was also very helpful. The university has the best infrastructure compare to other universities. There are many clubs and events to support students coming in every quarter.
Campus Life
There are countless number of clubs, events and extra curricular activities to participate. Al though it is up to you how much you want to get involved. The library is huge and it is fun to study there.
