Dislikes
- Location not as big as NYC (although just 5 hours away)
- Companies in career expo not that big since it's a small city
- Still growing
Campus Life
- The college has three campuses; the river campus is main with cs, ds, business school, optics, etc
- Second is medical centre, and third is Eastman, which is for music and arts
- All facilities are available at my campus (river campus). There are more than 5 libraries, sports: badminton, gym, squash, basketball, football field and so much more. medical services are present in all campuses, especially for university students
- meliora weekend is a huge campus festival that happens annually, There are many clubs one can join according to their interest (mostly undergrads, since grad students dont have much time)
- There are many organizations that make you feel at home, like international student organisations and the Rochester Indian Association. There are also sports teams (mostly undergrads) and many cultural events organized by respective organisations. Such as RIA does indian events, ISO does events for Chinese, Indian, etc students
Fees
- After 40% waiver on tuition fee, college fee is around $12000 per semester.
- Health insurance annually is around $3000.
- Fee is semester-wise. You can also pay semester-wise fee in 2-3 installments
- Graduate housing is around $550-$650 (some have heat included and wifi not included, some have wifi included but heat not included in rent)
- No expense for transportation; the university shuttle is very convenient unless have to go somewhere far
- Monthly expense: $615 rent + $50-$100 groceries + $80-$100 extras.

Likes
- The school is one of the top schools in the US for diversity, I have access to students from 26 countries in my classroom
- Simon offers nice concentrations that many schools do not, for example in doing a concentration in product management and pricing strategy.
- The school is ranked No 2 for ROI in the US since it has a track record of placing students in high paying fields
Dislikes
- Access to large scale employers: Rochester is a beautiful city with a lot to do but for some industries that are heavy on in person networking, it can be difficult to find those opportunities since we’re not located in NYC
- Batch Size: We typically have about 120 students in an MBA batch, as the school is growing it would be great to increase the size of the program
- Transport: It can be difficult sometimes to navigate life in the snow and negative temperatures, although there is ample infrastructure to make the most of it, life can get difficult without a car
Campus Life
-
They have two campus, one is called the River campus and the other one is in downtown Rochester which houses the Eastman School of Music.
-
The area near the campus has medicine centers and hospitals where UoR students can get medical care.
-
There are tons of sports facilities also available on campus such as an indoor swimming pool, tennis, squash, football, soccer, gym, etc.
Fees
- Tuition Fee is about $110,000 and monthly expenses come out to about a $1000 ($550 for rent including utilities, $400 for groceries and $50 for public transportation).
- The fee can be paid semester wise or all at one go. Many times the fee would be reduced if you have a merit scholarship and plenty of on campus jobs are also available to help with expenses.

Likes
- University gives an opportunity to choose courses based on your choice and interest.
- There are so many support available for a course outside the classroom too, which are always available so that you feel comfortable with it.
- Nice and friendly environment, provide ample of opportunities to learn grow collaborate, do research with faculties and lot more.
Dislikes
- The worst thing about it is the weather, winters are very long and extreme and never ending.
- If you are not financially aided, its very expensive school.
- Though the campus and city is beautiful, but in terms of industrial collaboration, the place doesn't have much to offer.
Campus Life
- It has 3 campuses: River campus, Medical Campus and Music Campus
- It has Library, sports arena, Gym, Interfaith prayer places, Medical centre, etc
- Multiple events used to happen almost every week; I am not sure about the names.
- There are multiple student organisations, multiple clubs, etc. A lot can be done in terms of extracurriculars; while writing this, I just came from the gym.
Fees
- You will get a proper fee structure breakdown here:
- I live in on-campus housing, which is $1150 for a 2-bedroom apartment including electricity. The price ranges from $1100 to $1800 for a 2-bedroom apartment.
- Apart from that, monthly expense including wifi, phone bills, groceries, Eating outside, etc will cost around $500 per month if done in a controlled way

Likes
- Very flexible course selection - you're able to drop/add courses for 3 weeks into the semester
- Decent food with a fairly good variety as well - Asian, American, Italian
- Very good research opportunities - research is quite accessible and it allows for valuable practical experience
Dislikes
- Credit limit (24) can be a bit restrictive at times, as even getting 24 credits requires an entire application process (and they rarely accept)
- CS department is not the largest, and most of the CS professors leave a lot to be desired (but there are a few gems for sure!). I've had a fairly good experience with non-CS professors (math, physics, creative writing) though.
- Indian food is not very easy to find, and quite subpar in quality.
Campus Life
- 2 Campus:
- River Campus and
- Eastman School of Music.
- River Campus is the main campus with a football field, gym, swimming pool, baseball field, tennis courts, basketball courts etcetera. Dandelion Day and Meliora Weekend are two exciting times with guest speakers, food trucks, games on the quad etcetera.
- There are a few cultural student organizations such as the Hindu Student Association, Muslim Student Association, among others - which allow the opportunity to meet other Indians!
Fees
- Currently, the rough breakdown follows for annual charges.
- Tuition $65000
- Housing $11000
- Meal Plan $4000
- Health Insurance $2000
- Fees are charged semester-wise (for the Fall and Spring semesters separately).
- In addition to this, monthly fees are probably $300-350 for eating from outside occasionally, taking Ubers, and other miscellaneous activities.

Overview
I chose Boston University because it is a prestigious graduate school and has great research and a great BME program. I wanted to live in Boston because I have lots of friends there, I like the city, and it's close to my family. It is also a great area for getting a job in biotech after I graduate. My experience as a graduate student at BU has been pretty good. It can be tough to start a master's degree without a lot of knowledge of what it will be like, but my advisor is helpful, and I have taken a lot of interesting classes. Yes, I had to submit letters of recommendation for my graduate program from professors in my undergraduate program.
Campus Life
I don't participate in much being a graduate student, but there are lots of options and nice buildings on campus.
