The B.Tech Applicants of ASTU must be a citizen of India and must be a permanent resident of Assam with a valid PRF provided by a competent Authority.

Our college is located in the outskirts of the city mostly.
Our college has no as such campus like an open area and so no restrictions.

AEC and its pros & cons

Likes

Our college has well maintained laboratory .
We have timely classes and teachers are very serious.
We have well equipped labs and regular workshop to enhance the practical knowledge.

Dislikes

The other areas such as sports are bit lacking for girls.
Fees is bit high for government college .
Girls hostel is not developed, lacking . 28 girls in a single dorm.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is a bit tough however it should be. There are practical classes , assignments and other things. The level of examination is tough . Even the class test are also complicated. And the assignments are bit difficult if you don't pay attention in the class.

Campus placement starts from 8 semester. Companies like NRL, haldia, vedanta, siemens have visited our college. In Vedanta the package goes up to 12-14 lakhs per Annum. Haldia too offers a good annual salary.

Up and Down sides of Assam engineering college

Likes

The affordable nature of the fees structure and the scholarships provided.
The college fests and sports week conducted make sure not to make the college life dull.
The college gives a lot of freedom to the students to express themselves

Dislikes

The placements and internships opportunities provided are not very good
The curriculum is very old and outdated and is not up to date with the modern breakthroughs
The ragging in hostel is also a downside to staying in campus.

Course Curriculum Overview:

B.Tech in Electrical Engineering is a very relevant and comprehemsive course in today's world. I took this course mainly because of my interest in electrical engineering. Electrical engineering is a very vast field and has a lot of scope for futher studies and research and a lot of jobs are available for electrical engineers. The improvements required in the curriculum is that it is a bit old fashioned and should be updated along with the fresh breakthroughs in the field.

I would rate it 8/10 because my aspect of choosing this course obviously for getting government jobs as this course in Assam have a very large impact on government sector . This course is mainly based on real life more than imagination as when we see a building we can assume whatever related to this course. There are some areas in Assam where improvement in teaching is necessary like dhemaji, golaghat etc.

The timing of the classes because its start from 9am till 5pm
Considering everything i just have suggestions please provide good food in canteen

I love computer , so I choose this field. My curriculum prepare me very well but i still suggest them to get on practicals rather than only the theory part.. the exam timing and frequency is good but it should be more practical.

Likes

The college have very minimal fees and provide scholarship
The college have good faculty ,labs and infrastructure.
The bus service of college is very good. There are four bus in the college which have gps which can be tracked using millitrack app.

Dislikes

The timing of library is very less. It is open from 10am to 4pm.

Placement Experience:

Since it is a tier - 3 college so we don't have very high placement. Placement percentage of each branch is discussed below- Civil - 10-12% Electrical- 20-25% Mechanical- 60% CSE- 80% ETE- 70% The overall placement percentage of college is 60%.

Library timings in AEC is very short period I think Library should be accessible to students 24X7

In AEC from the 6th semester the students are eligible for campus placements Several companies like L and T, Ashok Leylands, Vedanta, NRL etc visits AEC The highest package in AEC goes upto 24LPA and the average package is around 7 LPA Here upto 60% students get placed I'm sure I will get placed from the college
