Our college

Likes

The faculty are nice and helpful and the teaching is nice.
Their is hostel facility and their is separate hostel for the first year student.
The placement is decent and the average placement is about 700000.

Dislikes

Their is open campus, therefore many local public also live around the college.
The infrastructure is old and need improvement.
It is the first engineering college in the northeast but their is not a central library, their is library but not central library

The students who are appearing for the 7th semester end term examination are eligible for the campus placement drive , eligibility varies as per the companies eligibility criteria, main factors are CGPA score of the particular student. There are many companies who visited the campus for placement drive but the main companies who visited for campus placement drive are : NRL( Numoligorh Refinery Limited) ,ONGC( oil natural gas corporation) etc , the highest package offered was 24 lpa by NRL and the offer was got by 8 students and the average package of our college is 7lpa approx

I like this college and the teachers are also good and there is good company for placement also.

Likes

The teacher was very good and friendly and many of the teachers had PhDs.If I had any problem in understanding anything, he would explain it to me again very well.
Our campus was also very big and we roam around freely.
Practical lab were also very good,we could practice comfortably and the lab was also above the class campus.

Dislikes

There was nothing so bad,sometimes there was shortage of parking space in the college.
Our Pharmaceutical campus and Engineering campus were nearby, so if any program was to be held, space would be less.
There is no problem, everything is fine.

Placement Experience:

Placement in the college is very good.All the students appear for interviews from final year onwards.Most of the companies take direct face to face interviews. Most of the companies starting placement package 3-4 LPA and I too was selected through placement interview in the college in a manufacturing company and when my final exam was over,I joined that company.

A good college

Likes

It has a good environment, good scenery.
It has many trees , surrounded by jungles due to which we can breath natural air
Teachers are friendly nature, helps in our personal life as well as.

Dislikes

Roads are not good, many vehicles passed every day by our road

Since i am doing Btech , it is a good course of four years, we have to appear two exams each year almost each exam of 7-9 subjects. We also have practical exams . Since it is a engineering college we have to do things practically

My experience in the college.

Likes

The college is quite good . It has a good name in the society.The college is sorrounded by the mountains which makes the college more lovable.
The faculty members of the college is very good in teaching and helps every student with their studies and other work.
The college also have good placement system .

Dislikes

The campus of the college is not very big that is one thing i don't like.
Some of the chemicals of the labs are expired .
Gives a lot of assignments and regular classes.

Placement Experience:

From 7th semester the students become elogible for the campus placement. Many companies came for placement and offered a lot of placement for the students. Some of the companies like sun pharma niper etc visited our college.About 70% student got placements.

The environment of whole campus is very clam and refreshing. The campus is green campus .The social interaction of student is very fascinating
The teachers are very student oriented .They thoroughly teach each and every topic very deeply
The campus placement package is very fascinating .Many of passout students are well settled

Dislikes

Some of the teachers uses the old conventional method can't upgrade their mindset
The campus road should be closed for other type of public transport
Some types of curriculum might be change along with time

Placement Experience:

From the seven semester the student got the campus placement . There are more than 50 good campanies including bajaj ,Lg ,Land T construction, Gamon , tata ,NRL,ONGC and many more offered different jobs.The highest package in this year is 24 LPA from chemical engineering. The average package is 10- 12 Lpa. The percentage of student placement is very good More than 60 percent. Some of them established their own startup . my planning is to get a good job and also a dream of civil services

Likes

Teachers are very friendly and supportive. They even give student to student personal counselling.
College campus is beautiful. The hostel rooms are good in size.
Training and placement cell is very good in providing good placements to every students.

Dislikes

Classes doesn't happen frequently in higher semesters

Placement Experience:

The training and placement cell of the college is very good. They have brought many multinational companies in the college. And even they help in getting placements to students after graduation. The average package of the placements are 4 to 5lpa. Students are eligible to sit for placement from 6th semester itself. Companies like hcl, wipro, etc have visited and more than 40 students got placed in a year.The highest package till now has been 10lpa. All students must have 70% overall to sit in placement rounds

A comprehensive look at GIMT Guwahati

Likes

Professors and staff they were very helpful towards the students and always ready to help
The environment of college was quite clean with trees and plants
Syllabus complete within time and proper notes availability which is very helpful during examination

Dislikes

Washroom should be provided with more mirrors and dustbins
Lab equipments are limited so during project works we have to wait for the availability of equipments
Canteen food is limited and a bit pricey

Placement Experience:

From seventh semester onwards students can sit for college placements Various companies visited, some of them are RDC Concrete pvt.limited, Planetspark Techowiz Ion exchange India Infosys Ultratech cement Highest package was 5lpa and the lowest package was 2.5 lpa On an average you need above 65% to apply for college placement I got placed in RDC company and saptak Exterio company and I have joined saptak Exterio and currently working there as an architecture

The fact that the college has tied up with GEEKS OF GURUKUL a team of iitian training and teaching exceptionally for industry purpose was much needed. We have test every sunday and assignments 3days per week including mini projects as well
We have many programs scheduled every month based on concepts like cybersecurity, ethical hacking, drone building. Apart from these thing we have continues competitions going on like hackathons, digital poster making, project making
We have 2-3computer labs, gym in the campus, music room including instruments like bass guitar, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, drum set, flute, tabla, shaker, equiliser, mic and many more.

Dislikes

Even after having 3computer labs, only 1lab is fully accessible with good computers but the rest of two have many low grade computers with old processors.
Secondly the college is at the edge of the guwahati city, and its around 3km away from the city road. However it was built there so to avoid flood situations the main guwahati city faces quite frequently.
Since its at the edge and there’s mountains and mountains so its unsafe to go out after 10PM.

Talking about placements then before it was found to have an avenger package of 4LPA. But currently after getting tied with Geeks of Gurukul, by the end of 2nd year (ie 4th semester) you're eligible and trained by all ways to go for internship provided by GEEKS of GURUKUL. if you have the skills you can even apply in your 1st sem as they provide link of free vacancies to every semester. The companies include many but as far I remember, there's VOLVO, Jindal Steel, Mahindra, JCB, Cognizant, TCS, CFE india. Currently percentages are less as of now before we didn't had GEEKS OF GURUKUL (ie team of iitians teaching preparing us) but from now onwards the things will be changed and it's just the beginning.
