- Additionally, the institution recognizes the importance of supporting students financially and offers various avenues for scholarships, financial assistance, and campus employment opportunities.
- Faculties are highly experienced with great knowledge and some of them have good teaching and mentorship style.
- The classes are also very nice, the library is beautiful, well organized and peaceful.
Dislikes
- We get information about scholarships, they are not interested in giving scholarships to poor students like us.
- I disliked the lack of facilities in college sports, or music room facilities gym and all and mess is also not good
- There is one almirah and one table and one bed provided in the hostel but the mess is really not good which was a problem in every college.

Placement Experience:
In 2024 75% of the students fot campus placement rest choose to opt for further studies and offcampus placements.
Major recruiting bodies include Microsoft Google texas instruments reliance, apple and many more.
Like in 2023 Microsoft recruited 38 students from our college with a package of 55 lacs.
26 students got offers from JPMC for about 18lacs.

- Reputation of college, high placement percentages and great average packages
- Enviornment of college and vastness. Peaceful environment which sets great mood.
- Library is very useful and campus life is good here.
Dislikes
- I think some of our professors have no subject. They may have experience but they don't know how to teach and all.
- We don't feel it like a engineering college. Restrictions are huge like hell, we are in feeling of school.
- As of now, we still completed first semester so we noticed this much as we do not involve in any kind of placements and training.
Placement Experience:
As mentioned early, our college placements and ranking was good. I think from 5th or 6th semester, our campus starts taking placements but effective placements will be done from 7th semester. Placements percentage was more than 80 to 90%. I think it is more than 90% also. Our campus record was 70 lpa and average was around 12 lpa overall.

- The college regulations of allowing students outside for min time
- The message food which is not proper and sometimes unhygienic
- The lab facilities which are very old and not that much precise
Placement Experience:
The placement starts from the 7th sem onwards the selection is based on the students that are eligible for the companies and also based on CGPA criteria imposed by the companies.If no one is placed the college will recommend some companies to the students for off campus selections

- Friendly professors in the Computer Science Department, they are always down for conversations and guidance sessions regarding the ongoing development tech scenario.
- Clubs are Pretty active, and have a very competitive selection process, bringing out the best out of the applicants.
- Decent Campus size, numerous places to hang out and chill with friends.
Dislikes
- Intime can sometimes be strict, guards yell upon late arrival at hostels.
- Mess food quality is average to below average. Food tastes good atmost 2-3 times a week.
- Hostel rooms vary hall to hall, hall 14 may be the newest hostel but has the worst rooms in terms of construction,
Placement Experience:
Placements at NIT Durgapur are phenomenal. Students are eligible for placements from 6th semester onwards. Some of the visiting companies include Microsoft, Apple, and JPMC. They offer attractive packages to students, with the highest placement being 50 LPA. The average placement for all the students is around 11LPA. For branches like CSE, ECE and EEE, the average is consistently above 16-17 LPA. The placement percentage is around 80% for CSE students. My plans after getting the degree will be to work in the industry for 1-2 years and then proceed to higher studies abroad.

- The college provides a steady platform for developing one's own skills, through tech clubs and hackathons. People interested in self improvement through learning will never be short of opportunities here, as there is always something new to try on..
- The research culture in the institute is quite well developed, especially for the Computer Science, Electronics and Metallurgy departments. The research output is excellent and the Professors are well known in their respective fields.
- The faculty is top notch, they take their time cultivating interest in the subjects and help clear any doubts if required.
Dislikes
- The administration can be slow and inactive sometimes, and requires a large push before taking any steps on any major decision.
Placement Experience:
Students are eligible for placements from 7th semester. Over one hunder companies visit the campus every year and nearly 85-90% placement is achieved every year, varying with different economic conditions of every year. However, even in recession the institute has done well for itself in placements.

- The thing I liked the most about NIT Durgapur is it's management, the management is very strict with first year student but it's for our own good . College is strictly against ragging and it's really efficient too.
- The girls to boys ratio is quite good , like in our computer science batch theres a total of 187 students in which 36 girls and rests are boys which is nearly 1:4 good for a NIT. Also girls here are very friendly 😉.
- There's a committee for everything in our college formed by students. So whatever the problem is it will always be formed in a matter of time,we just have to make a complaint about it on whatsapp group and everything that's bothering u will be fixed
Dislikes
- The most disliked thing by me here is the politics, yes there is politics divided into zones from different States students of India. Here's a student body called Gymkhana which conducts this election which every year cause a real chaos afaik.
- Here exist a culture called zone in or zone out , if u choose to zone in you'll get ragged but along with that you'll get help from alumnis and seniors and even in club entries but if u choose to zone out noone will ever touch u
- Well the mess food quality is quite good but the veg people will have to suffer a bit coz even tho the quality is good but the menu is a lil repetitive which u might not like over time.
Placement Experience:
From 6th or 7th semester students become eligible for campus placement, in 3.5 yr of college in BTECH, u will get opportunities for internships and will eventually start earning. This year in the latest batch 8 students got opportunity in Apple India internship and in placement offers Microsoft took 7 students from 2025 batch with a package of 51 LPA.
Total no. Of companies visited we're 187 last year with 725 offers. Highest package of CSE as of last year was 81 LPA by Atlantasia and average was 16 LPA due to the recession year but in 2023 it was 21.45 LPA and highest was 70 LPA in mechanical branch. Percentage of students getting placed in 2023 was 86% in CSE and in 2024 it was 69% again due to the recession.
My plans after getting the degree is to pursue higher education and not just placement well that depends how my academic will be so maintaining a good CGPA is crucial for me.

From the fifth to sixth semester students are eligible for campus placement.there is lots of well known companies came for campus placement like Microsoft Amazon ect.fifty to sixty percent of students got placed.

- The environment of the college is very good, there are lots of scope to learn new things, you can do many innovative work and for personal growth
- The seniors are very helpfull they will guide you as you required
- The education system is also very good the faculty members are very good
Dislikes
- Hostel food is not too good , some hostels are far away from college
- College does not allow other any food delivery from outside
- Behaviour of some person is not good too much
Placement Experience:
The placement are very good in my college , every year lots of companies come and offer many packages to students, after btech I want to higher studies from IIT , approx 85% students get placed from this college

- Quite good faculty, always ready for solving your doubts
- Placements are good enough given the current market drop. Deserving candidates have bagged excellent offers.
- Infrastructure is excellent. Hostels and classrooms are extremely well maintained.

- You may not like the teaching style of all the professors, you need to get adjusted with the teaching methodology.
Placement Experience:
3rd year onwards, companies start coming for hiring interns. During placement season, lots of companies arrive to hire deserving grads. Microsoft, accenture, infosys, JPMC, pwc, Goldman Sachs, Qualcomm, DE Shaw, Wells Fargo, Adobe, Oracle, Morgan Stanley.. and many more mainly come for hiring cs grads. Some other branch students can also apply depeding on company recruiting rules. Highest package provided is 55 LPA and median is 12 LPA. My plan is to try to get a good placement after graduating.

- Infrastructure is very good , The class rooms are very newly built the NAB.
- Labs are very well maintained, all the equipments are there.
- Connectivity to railway station and bus stand is very well.
Dislikes
- Hostel are pretty descent put require maintainnance.
- Medical unit is not that well equipped and require huge upgradation.
- Not giving enough opportunities to interact with the seniors in first year.
Placement Experience:
We have good intership opportunities from 3 Rd year.
The placements are well and the average packages offered are also good.
But due to the recession every other college is affected so as nit dgp.
The placements for this year has fallen by a fair margin.But the overall placement has been fair.

Here is a detailed review shared by my brother who completed his graduation from NIT Durgapur
- Infrastructure: Honestly, the infrastructure isn’t all that great but will provide all the basic amenities necessary for a good academic environment.
- Faculty: Most students have to resort to self-study because the professors are not very passionate about teaching. However, if you do good projects under a professor, you may be able to pursue a master's in a foreign university.
- Placements: NIT Durgapur has recorded excellent placements. This year the highest CTC offered was INR 70 LPA while the average salary offered was INR 13.64 LPA. The top recruiters included TCS Ninja, PwC, ICICI Bank, Microsoft, and many others. More than 100 recruiters participated in the placement drive and 633 students were placed.
- Opportunities: The NIT tag will open a number of opportunities for you and the alumni network is also quite extensive. You can also avail opportunities like workshops and clubs.
- Campus life: The campus life is very active with many fun-filled events like the freshers' farewell party and celebration of regional festivals. Additionally, a number of cultural and technical fests are also held.
- Administration : The administration is very slow and is not cooperative. You might face some issues.
- Location : NIT Durgapur faces no major connectivity issues. The railway station is 30 mins or 14 km away while the nearest airport is at Andal, which isn't well connected, so Kolkata Airport will be a better option. You can find the Auto rickshaw stand just at the main gate.
Overall, NIT Durgapur is a great place if you are unable to make it to IITs.
