for CSE in the Uttarakhand/Dehradun private college tier, the honest preference order is: Graphic Era Hill University > DIT University > UPES Dehradun — but with important caveats for each.
Graphic Era (Dehradun): strongest placements of the three for CSE. good companies from NCR/Bangalore recruit here. well-established, NAAC A grade. best choice among these three for pure software career.
DIT University (Dehradun): decent, autonomous university status. smaller batch than Graphic Era, placements are decent but lower than GEU. good option if you get a scholarship.
UPES (Dehradun): originally known for oil & gas/energy programs, not traditionally strong for CSE. placements for CSE have been improving but still lags behind Graphic Era in software roles. recently trying to build CS brand. fees are also higher than the other two.
that said — all three are Tier 3 private colleges. if you have any other option (NIT, good state govt college, Thapar, Amrita, etc.) that's worth pursuing instead. among just these three specifically for CSE, GEU is the best bet. also check if UPES is offering any specialization like CSE with AI/Cybersecurity — they've been positioning those as premium programs.

Choosing between colleges requires evaluating multiple factors aligned with your career goals and personal preferences.
Key comparison points:
Visit campuses, talk to current students, and review official placement reports. Your decision should balance academic quality, career prospects, and personal comfort.
Placement statistics vary by branch, college reputation, individual performance, and market conditions.
Placement insights:
Check official placement reports on college websites. Focus on building technical skills, maintaining good CGPA, and securing quality internships.
LPU's B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering offers a decent scholarship system and a sprawling campus, but historically, the placement opportunities for mechanical branches are limited compared to the tech-heavy placements for B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering at UPES. While LPU's fees are around ?69,000 per semester, UPES also provides good scholarship options, although I found their campus employment opportunities lacking. Given the current tech-driven job market, UPES seems like the smarter financial choice for a better return on investment, especially if you're inclined towards computer science. If you’re passionate about mechanical engineering and don’t mind a tougher job market, LPU could still be a viable option.

UPES Dehradun offers two years of MBA courses in eleven specializations. If someone wants to pursue an MBA in Oil and Gas Management and Power management, UPES is the best option to choose. Apart from these specializations, an MBA from UPES is not a great choice.
The highest package for an MBA is INR 29 LPA at UPES under the School of Business. The average package of UPES Dehradun MBA is INR 15.70 LPA (Top 10%). The institute has placed around 260 MBA students with an average CTC of INR 7.7 LPA.
The basic eligibility for admission to the MBA program at UPES is a minimum of 50% marks in classes X and XII and Graduation from a recognized University. Students must appear for UPESMET to get selected for the MBA program. Post which, a Group Discussion and Personal Interview round will be conducted. UPES Dehradun also accepts entrance exam scores like CAT, MAT, CMAT, NMAT, and XAT for its MBA courses.
NIRF 2023 ranked the UPES MBA course at 39th position among all the management institutions in India. The institute also offers scholarships to MBA students based on marks in graduation, CAT and NMAT. The total number of scholarships available is up to 75 seats. The scholarship will be awarded as 20% of tuition fees of 1st & 2nd semesters only.
B.Tech CSE is one of the most opted courses and gives great career opportunities and choices to students in the field of Computer Science & Engineering. In my opinion, B.Tech CSE from Bennett University is a better option for the following reasons:

NIT Silchar seems to be a better option for CSE than NIT Hamirpur and UPES Dehradun. Here are some unique aspects of NIT Silchar that make it stand apart from these colleges
The above points are more than enough to convince you to join NIT Silchar instead of UPES Dehradun and NIT Hamirpur.

Every B-school has its unique strengths and so does UPES Dehradun which is famous for its domain-specific MBA. If you are willing to pursue an MBA in oil and gas, power management, or energy trading, choosing UPES Dehradun will be the right decision. It offers a plethora of opportunities in these domains and the ROI is also great. There are some industry-specific courses too but their placements are just average.
The best part about UPES is the diversity of the crowd. You will get the chance to interact with people from various backgrounds such as law, management, engineering, and design thus enhancing the learning experience manifolds.
Ultimately, I will suggest you go for UPES Dehradun only if you are planning to pursue a domain-specific MBA, else you can go for better B Schools.

KIIT, SRM, and UPES are some of the best private colleges in India. Placement statistics change for every college according to year and branch. I am a B.Tech CSE student and therefore, my answer will talk especially about the CSE branch.
In KIIT, around 90% of the students get placed as the placement season starts. Companies mostly require a 6-6.5 CGPA and the cutoffs can go to maximum 7.5 CGPA for some companies. A 6-pointer may end up with a better job than a 9-pointer because of skills. The placement scenario is good.
KIIT is better among the three for placements because it has an E-cell or Entrepreneurship Cell which is not present in the other two colleges. Over there, an internship camp is organized in which the students can get an internship in their field of interest, in different companies.
SRM- In SRM, there is a system of mass recruitment and most students get placed. Mass recruitment companies recruit students in large numbers with an average package of around INR 4.5 LPA. If you study hard, practice coding, are strong in aptitude, database, etc., you can get a package of INR 5-6LPA.
UPES- CSE branch, the placement percentage is around 90%. However, the number of companies that visit UPES is limited. IBM is a big company and offers the maximum placements. Amazon, Wipro, Dell, Flipkart, and others also visit the campus for placements.
Thus, because of its Entrepreneurship Cell and Internship camp, I would suggest that KIIT has the best placements out of the three. However, placements at SRM and UPES are also quite good and the placement figures for all three are at par.

There are many aspects of an MBA degree. One of the most important factors that students usually consider are placements, ROI, and campus life, so I’ll try to answer accordingly.

UPES has a beautiful campus and a great view. BIMTECH on the other hand is at a slight disadvantage due to its location. The weather is extreme and humid in Noida but the campus is great if we compare it with other B-Schools situated in Delhi NCR.
