Ques. Is the PG Diploma in Nutrition & Dietetics at AMU a full-time course, and do I need to attend classes daily on campus?
Ans. Yes, this is a full-time on-campus programme offered through the Centre of Professional Courses at AMU's main campus in Aligarh. Students are required to attend classes regularly. The course involves both theoretical instruction and practical training components. Since it is a CPC course, students are not eligible for hostel accommodation and must arrange their own stay in or around Aligarh.
Ques. What is the exact eligibility for this course? Can a B.Sc. Chemistry or B.Sc. Zoology graduate apply?
Ans. The course is primarily designed for graduates in Home Science, Food Science, Nutrition, and allied life sciences. Graduates in B.Sc. Biochemistry, B.Sc. Zoology, B.Sc. Botany, and B.Sc. Food Technology are generally considered eligible. B.Sc. Chemistry graduates may apply, but eligibility is subject to the AMU admission committee's interpretation of allied science discipline. The minimum requirement is 50% marks in the qualifying degree. Candidates are advised to verify their eligibility directly with the Centre of Professional Courses before applying.
Ques. How competitive is the admission test for this course? What is the syllabus?
Ans. The admission test (NDPPA) is a departmental test conducted by AMU's Centre of Professional Courses. The syllabus typically covers topics from the qualifying degree in nutrition, food science, biochemistry, and home science. The test is of 2-hour duration. Given the limited seat intake of 25 seats and the growing interest in nutrition careers, competition can be moderate to high. Ques. What career opportunities are available after completing this PG Diploma from AMU?
Ans. Ques. Is there any provision for lateral entry or credit transfer from this diploma to a master's programme at AMU?
Ans. There is no formal lateral entry or credit transfer mechanism from the PG Diploma in Nutrition & Dietetics to AMU's M.Sc. programmes. The PG Diploma and the M.Sc. (Community Science) Food & Nutrition are separate programmes with independent admission processes. However, completing this diploma can strengthen a candidate's profile when applying for the M.Sc. programme in subsequent years, as it demonstrates subject-specific knowledge and commitment to the field.
Ques. What is the fee refund policy if I cancel my admission after joining?
Ans. AMU follows the UGC-mandated five-tier refund system. If you withdraw 15 or more days before the officially notified last date of admission, you are entitled to a 100% refund (minus up to Rs. 5,000 as processing charges). The refund reduces progressively to 90%, 80%, and 50% depending on how late the withdrawal request is made. No refund is given if the withdrawal is made more than 30 days after the last date of admission. The non-refundable application processing fee of Rs. 750 is not returned under any circumstances.
