A particular aspect of my college that I appreciated the most was the Court room activities which is compulsory to all students and is worth 20% their grade. This is exclusive only to NLU Jodhpur and gives everyone a first hand mooring experience.
Campus life is not very thriving. Despite the campus being acres large, majority of the student go out or go home during the weekends. The quality of social interactions for me was very poor but that’s probably because I joined late through vacancy.
The faculty are experts in their particular field of law, some distinguished professors are even revolutionaries that have a lasting impact on the Indian law system, while some are quite average but are still good nonetheless. We also have mentors.
Dislikes
The infrastructure in terms of hostel is excellent. The rooms are spacious and the washrooms are well maintained. But the classrooms, gym and tuck shops/ cafeterias are ill equipped. Especially the tuck shops and old classrooms
There wasn’t a proper moot court room until last week and was built recently, some classrooms have very uncomfortable chairs and tables. But mostly there is no proper tuck shop in campus so we have to cross the highway to go eat. This is dangerous
The course curriculum is not hard, but very very rigours. We have exams almost every week, we have mid terms and CRE’s along with the end semester. You will always be occupied with either an exam study, a cre prep, or a competition.
Placement Experience:
Usually people are accepted for internships in tier 1 law firms from the third year onwards. Usually students get a pre placement offer or certain companies in their fourth year but campus placements only happen in the fifth year. Around 20-30 companies visit my campus and this year:
43 job offers were received by the graduating batch, 16 received PPO's, and 27 students accepted job offers on day zero. 2 received offers from international firms. The highest package from an Indian law firm was 35lpa. While the highest internationally was 1cr in UK currency. The batch size was 122. I really just want to secure an offer from a top law firm after getting my degree.
There's a special committee which takes care of internships and placements at NLUJ. we start getting internships through college since the third year. Some fourth years even get PPOs but that ofc depends upon your internship performance. In the fifth year, we organise day zero where a lot of firms including tier 1 and tier 2 come to college for the campus placements.
The placements are basically categorized as day zero placement and placement after that. Day zero placements happen in 4th year when the big 7 law firms recruit. The big 7 law firms pay a starting package of more than 12 lakhs. In the year 2022, 46 students got placed out of 50 students. The highest salary by Indian firms is usually around 18 lakhs per annum. While the foreign firms its around 44lakhs.
Interest in lawand ny father is also lawyer and it is also one of the reason why u chose law. Another reason for choosing the law beaches it awares you about the society and the rights and liabilities of yours towards the society.
At my rank, this was the best University I was offered. Also, my institute has a great record of 100% placement.
I chose this field because of my keen interest in legal developments and their impact on society.
The thing I like most about my college is the lush green beautiful campus expanded in a vast area of 55 acres.
