Ques. Is the Ph.D. (Engineering) at NMIMS MPSTME available in Part Time mode for working professionals?
Ans. Yes, NMIMS MPSTME offers the Ph.D. in Engineering in Part Time mode, making it accessible to working professionals. Candidates who have obtained their degrees through part-time, distance learning, or correspondence courses from a recognised university are also eligible to apply as per UGC guidelines. The programme spans 3 to 6 years, giving flexibility to complete research alongside professional commitments.
Ques. What is the effective fee for the Ph.D. (Engineering) Part Time programme at NMIMS after the scholarship?
Ans. The gross annual fee is Rs. 2,50,000. However, NMIMS provides an assured scholarship of Rs. 2,00,000 per annum to all admitted PhD Engineering students, making the effective annual fee just Rs. 50,000. Over the minimum 3-year duration, the effective total cost comes to approximately Rs. 1,50,000 (excluding the one-time non-refundable registration fee of Rs. 2,500 + GST).
Ques. Can I get exemption from the NMIMS PhD entrance test if I have a GATE or NET score?
Ans. Yes. Candidates who have qualified with a valid and current score in NET/SET/GATE/GPAT/JRF examinations conducted by apex bodies such as UGC, CSIR, ICMR, or equivalent are exempted from the NMIMS written entrance test. However, they are still required to appear for the Personal Interview at the Mumbai campus.
Ques. Where is the entrance test and personal interview conducted for NMIMS PhD Engineering admissions?
Ans. Both the entrance test and the personal interview are conducted at the Mumbai campus of NMIMS MPSTME only, regardless of the campus the candidate is applying to. Candidates must plan their travel accordingly.

Ans. Ques. Is the NMIMS PhD Engineering scholarship available for Part Time students, and how do I apply for it?
Ans. Yes, the assured scholarship of Rs. 2,00,000 per annum is available to Part Time PhD Engineering students as well. To apply, candidates must fill out the scholarship application form (available at https://engineering.nmims.edu/academics/programmes/phd/) and submit the hardcopy along with the registration form, SOP, resume, admission form, and admission offer letter to MPSTME, V. L. Mehta Road, Vile Parle (W), Mumbai - 400 056. Note that the JRF/SRF fellowship is available only to Full Time PhD students.
