Why are the placements for Btech Civil Engineering so low in Nit Calicut?

Other South Indian NITs like Trichy, Surathkal, and Warangal offer better industry exposure and have more promising scenarios. NIT Calicut lacks transport facilities so most construction companies prefer visiting the nearest NIT rather than traveling all the way to Calicut. Another reason for the poor placement scenario here is the low performance of the senior batches of the branch. However, the situation is gradually improving as the institute has been adopting measures to support students pursuing internships at IITs and other industries.

NIT Calicut is good for Civil Engineering. The department has an experienced faculty base. The laboratories have the apparatus needed to perform exercises but the instruments are old and don’t work properly. But the lab sessions are very useful, you can learn a great deal by attending these, The Civil Engineering Association also provides good workshops often. NIT Calicut placements are good for Civil Engineering. Around 75-80% of students get placed through the campus drive. The average CTC offered is around INR 8 LPA.

Is NIT Calicut civil or chemical better in terms of placements and scope in future?

If you are a Civil student, my advice to you would be to prepare for the GATE exam once you are done with your degree. The placement is quite low for core companies. Many students also follow the same. Chemical students are known to focus on jobs and have a good placement in analytics and software-based companies. Many of the top ones also land core jobs. My suggestion would be to check the syllabus and pick the subject you like. You will realize which subject has good scope and what does not. As far as Civil is concerned, most students land jobs at L&T. But, they will make you work a lot and you will not be satisfied with the pay. This is not the case with Chemical engineering.

Glimpse of National Institute of Technology Calicut

Fees and Financial Aid:

Year-wise tution fees is 1,25,000 for Gen/EWS/OBC students whose family income is more than 5 lakh, and 41,667 for Gen/EWS/OBC students whole family income is in between 1-5 lakh. No tution fees foe thw SC/ST and students whose family income is below 1 lakh. 53,000 one time fees is mendatory to pay for every students at the time of addmission. 11,786 other fees including registration, library, examination, sports etc. is also medatory to pay for everyone evry semester. Hostel fess is around 15000 per semester and 9000 at the time of registration. Scholarship facility is good here most of the students are getting scholarship like NSP, Relience Foundation scholarship, etc.

Fees will be around 1 lakh 40 thousand when you join the college and you have to pay for the later sem wise fees and for course registration everytime it will be nearly 20k every sem scholarship for students I applied is reliance scholarship where I have to attend exam

The fee semester-wise is 72000 but I was able into a lower fee with an income certificate under (5 lakh) I had to pay like 42k per semester. The college offers many scholarships for Kerala people and sc/st people and to other financial aid people.

The fees structure is pretty decent of about 1.1 lakh per semester and 2.2 lakh for the first year. The hostel is also very cheap as there is just 137rs of the complete food in one day which is a very good price

There are proper scholarships provided to financially sick students and college is very supportive of these things, also there is less amount of fee as per the income range of the family. But proper valid documents are required for it. Placement and internship opportunities are provided from starting of 3rd year of BTech.

Curriculum is good starting from first year

For general the fee structure is too high that is approx 125000 per year without including hostel fees. But we can really on scholar ships and to say there are enough scholarships proving here . Hostel fees are comparatively good and the facilities provided are okay

Tution fee is depend upon income certificate of each student's. hostel and mess charges also there. Many of the students getting scholarships.campus employment have undertaken. Faculty are providing job roles and intership and carrier development classes.

The fees have increased for the upcoming years which is a bit too much but for my year it seems somewhat reasonable.Campus provides a good set of scholarships,also since its an national institute we can avail any scholarship of our choice and not restricted to state scholarships,but the problem is government is reducing the active scholarships in our country.This year civil and mechanical department have the highest set of campus placements which ensures the opportunity almost 95% of mechanical students have been placed and almost 80% of civil have also ensured their seat
