The GATE 2025 cutoff for IIST for M.Tech and M.Sc admission ranges from 597 to 355 for the General category. For the M.Tech Geoinformatics program, the Round 1 cutoff score is 597, and the last round cutoff is 483. The Round 1 cutoff for M.Tech Quantum Technology is 549, with a last round admission score of 436. Other courses such as Aerodynamics and Flight Mechanics, Structures and Design, and VLSI and Microsystem have cutoff scores within the 527 to 404 range.

Less competitive programs like Material Science and Technology and Manufacturing Technology show a cutoff range of 392 to 355. For OBC candidates, the admission cutoff range is between 499 for M.Tech VLSI and Microsystem and 326 for M.Tech Manufacturing Technology. In the SC category, the score range is 426 for M.Tech VLSI and Microsystem to 200 for M.Tech Geoinformatics. For ST candidates, the admission cutoff is 380 for M.Tech Aerodynamics and Flight Mechanics and 252 for M.Tech Geoinformatics.

Under the EWS category, the cutoff range is 516 in M.Tech Quantum Technology to 314 in M.Tech Thermal and Propulsion.

Life in only space college of INDIA

Likes

Labs Facilities are very nice. We are free to use the labs.
Teacher to student ratio is very less. On 1 professor around 7 to 8 students.
Infrastructure is really good. All the buildings are well maintained.

Dislikes

Academic is little bit on tuffer side which gives less time for extra and co-curricular activities.
Support of clubs and sports is very minimal.
Sports and cultural things are very limited.

I applied for many other colleges like IITs and NITs but this is the only space college in the country which focuses on space in all aspects. Moreover compared to lower branches in IIT's It was good to have a good branch in this college.

My life until now in IIST

The student teacher ratio is good for every three students one teaching faculty
The hostels are spacious and the security is tight so no problem and there are strict anti-ragging rules and camera checks so there is no possibility of ragging.
The atmosphere is great for a mind with curiousity and scientific approachers and we are even allowed to enter isro facilities with our IDs which no IIT institute possess

Not many seats since the whole institution is dedicated to only teachings in space related courses
They don't publicise themselves and most people don't know the importance this institute posses
There is a chance that students may lack behind if they don't approach any person regarding studies.

I applied to the top for IITs giving courses in aerospace and this IIST and no private institutions because this degree is of low importance and intrest in the students of India and difficult to study and maintenance of these labs is far costly for getting profits through admissions and no nit institute is giving this course. My rank is less than required to enroll in IITs so I went for IIST.

IIST - A good campus to live but with high restrictions.

The greenery in campus.The campus is such clean and green to live .
The security of campus.The CISF always secures the campus 24×7
The mess food is healthy and safe to eat even the taste is not so good.

The gender ratio in college is very low .
The tight timing of campus to go out and come .
The attendance policy is such strict. They are asking for 80% mandatory attendance.

I choose this college over other colleges due to the opportunity that I am getting in this college such as ISRO campus placement and more opportunities in my life.such as government sector and private sector.

Is choosing avionics over other worth it?

The whole admissions process is being done with the website. Don't judge by the looks of the website, the course can't be changed later once confirmed in the website. So be careful while selecting the preferences of the branches.

The Holistic IIST

The labs in IIST are one of the best in the India and also gives really good ISRO Exposure.
The CISF security of IIST takes the look of every aspect of security which means very high security.
The course ciruculum is very good especially after the NEP policy. We get time to focus on other activities apart froma cademics because of this.

The environment in the campus is not good. We have spotted wild boars, porqupines and many insects inside the campus.
Girls to boys ratio of IIST should be a definitive concern to work on
We require permission in advance a week for going out the city i mean every the security is too much tight.

As i am JEE Advanced qualified student, i have many options in JOSAA counselling like i am getting Mechanical in IIT BHU, Civil in IIT Goa, chemical in IIT ISM Dhanbad and also chemical in IIT Bhubneshwar but i choose IIST over those colleges because as I mentioned it is focused on academics and this institute has labs better than any other college in India also the I am getting ECE branch here that is why. Yes i got rejection from many IITs and NITs because my rank was not too good to be there. Our college has a very simple admisaion process, from what i remember, you have to fill the counselling form of this college which opens during the time of JOSAA counselling but on its own website. Then as the counselling starts if you got a seat then you have to pay the seat acceptance fee amount but if you didn't get one then you can wait for spot rou d which will have a high chances for your selection for that you have to pay an extra amount over seat acceptance fees. The eligibility criteria of more than 75 percent aggregate in 12th is not there but you should have to be JEE Advance qualifier. There are no other exams for getting admission in this college, the only exam which you have yo give is JEE Advance and the minimum criteria is the passing marks

IIST Dream college For Space Enthusiasts

The Lush green campus is awesome. The college is surrounded by the mountains.
The faculties are really specialized in their domain. They really have a good knowledge of their subject. Their style of teaching is very good.
The College infrastructure is really good, uses rain water harvesting for daily need. We have two water treatment plants inside the campus.

The Mess food is not good. You will find it good initially but after a month you will realize that the taste of all curry is same.
The Campus is not that big. You can Roam around the campus in 30 minutes.
The male to Female ratio is not good. For our batch it is 7:1.

I have qualified Jee Advance. I have applied for IITs and I got IIT Bhubneshwar, Metallurgy in 2nd round. But I like Space Science from my childhood, So I opt for Aerospace Engineering in IIST over Metallurgy in IIT. It is really easy to ISRO being an IISTian. I have applied for ISI but I was not qualified by 2 marks. For admission in IIST, You have to qualified Jee Advance. On the basis of your Jee Advance Score IIST conduct their own Councelling for their different courses. For my year 2022, Jee Advance was bit tough and cutoff was 20%.

IIST review

In IIST the lab facility is great and provide good research opportunity
If you are studius person then IIST is good option
It has a good library where you gather knowledge

Sports facility is not very good, no encouragement
Girls to boys ratio is havoc like this year only 17 girls
Events are not so good , no enjoyment in campus

I had applied for JOSSA councelling and had got admission at Indian School of Mines i.e. Indian Institute of Technology Dhanbad in Mineral and Mining Engineering. U liked the aerospace engineering more here at IIST

Top class lab facilities which most of college won't have also these labs are free to work and visit anytime you want.
Exposure to various isro programs and space related activities. One of the best of its kind Library with lots of books and e books also access to various libraries world-wide through e Library.
Good Infrastructure and research based approach in study. Also even though college is in Remote areas after going one kilometres from campus we have a bus station.

Less sports facilities as compared to other institutions.
The college is in Remote areas and hence it's difficult to go out for outing also strict security norms due to cisf security.
Not much food options available except for a small cafeteria in the campus and a small dhabha near the college.

I had applied for Jossa, Csab and Mht Cet councelling. I had got Indian Institute of Information Technology Allahabad, Information Technology Branch in Jossa I was allotted with Electronics and Communication Engineering branch at NIT Trichy in CSAB. In MHT-CET councelling I was allotted with Pune Institute of Computer Technology (PICT) Pune Computer Engineering. As I had more inclination towards mechanical design and structures I decided to opt for Aerospace Engineering at Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology Thiruvananthapuram. The admission process for my college is through a seperate councelling process carried out on their own website iist.ac.in The eligibility is 75% marks in 12th boards and Jee advanced Qualification according to reservation category.

Campus is like ultimate fitness test here.

I only want these collage because I want to became an ISRO scientist and this is the best way for that dream of mine so I did not think about any other collage and choose this one only so it is good for me

A cosmic learning experience

Professors are really teaching well and clearing doubts
Campus is full of green and there is a canel
Students here are very interesting and many are passionate about learning new things about space

Campus is just 100 acres unlike iits which are more than 400 acres

I applied for aerospace in tire 1 iits but I didn't get seat in that clgs and I listen for space it best clg people here rejected iit b aerospace and came here that this this college is I applied only for aerospace engineering in top iit and get rejected Not from joosa this is separate type iist admission in Google uh can find it Jee advance Cut off will be 38%for general category in 2024 For ews 34 For st sc and obc it will less than it
