IIST Scholarships 2025

IIST offers Scholarships to its meritorious and weaker sections of society. IIST Scholarships for both Undergraduate and Postgraduate students as listed below.

1.	The top 5 students (UG/DD) admitted in 2025-2026 who have secured AIR (All India Rank, in JEE Advanced Examination, 2025) up to 1000 would be entitled to a full fee waiver for the first year. However, they have to maintain a CGPA of 9.0 and above on a scale of 10 at the end of each year in order to obtain a full fee waiver for the subsequent year.	MTech students with a valid GATE score will receive scholarships through AICTE
2.	Students (UG/DD) admitted in 2025-2026 and securing a CGPA of 9.0 or higher (in the scale of 10) in a given semester would receive a 50 per cent tuition fee waiver in the next semester. IIST Courses & Fees 2025

Ques. What is the Application Procedure for the IIST Year-Round Internship?

Ans. IIST offers year-round internships/projects to students, in addition to summer internships for a period ranging from 3 months to 12 months. In order to do this internship/project in IIST, the external student has to independently seek a Faculty Supervisor in IIST in the desired stream. After discussion and mutual agreement with the supervisor, the student can apply for an internship/project through the IIST website. The application requires a detailed work plan to be carried out at IIST. The Faculty supervisor will endorse the applicant’s project plan and forward it to the internship committee for approval. If selected, the student will receive the internship/project offer letter from the Dean of Student Activities. Students affiliated with an Indian Institution or University will be considered for internships/projects lasting between 3 and 12 months. This must be a part of the student’s academic curriculum. The student has to submit a No Objection Certificate from the student's parent institution.

Ques. What are the objectives of SEDGs in IIST?

Ans. In accordance with the guidelines issued by the UGC, Government of India, dated January 2024, regarding the provision of equitable opportunities for Socio-Economically Disadvantaged Groups (SEDGs) in Higher Educational Institutions(HEIs), the following committee is constituted with immediate effect for two years. The objectives of this group are to ensure the constitutional rights, dignity, safety and security of students belonging to SEDGs. To support inclusive, safe and equitable education for SEDGs at the institution and to provide academic, emotional and socio-economic support and mentoring to SEDGs students is another objective too. To oversee the implementation of orientation programs, bridge courses and outreach initiatives and to implement and monitor all schemes and policies meant for SEDGs by the Government / UGC are the most important objectives as well.

Ques. What is the Eligibility and duration of the Abdul Kalam Postdoctoral Fellowship at IIST?

Ans. To commemorate the vision of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, IIST has introduced a new Fellowship program called “Abdul Kalam Postdoctoral Fellowship” for highly motivated young doctoral students with a proven record of excellence in research and who propose to pursue disruptive and cutting-edge research in fundamental science and engineering that has societal implications in research areas related to those being pursued in IIST.

Indian citizens, including people with NRI/PIO status, as well as foreign nationals, preferably below 35 years (Age relaxation of five years will be given to candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/Physically Challenged & Women candidates), are eligible for this program. PhD degree from a duly recognised Indian or foreign university/institute, with at least three lead author research publications in Q1 journals with a high impact factor, is the Qualification required for this fellowship. Duration is initially for one year, with a possible extension for an additional year, subject to performance review at the end of the first year.

I pay 20k per semester and extra 15k for the mess food I'm an obc category student and if u have no reservations then 60k per semester and the mess charges remain same and if u are from sc or st caste no money needed for course but mess charges remain same and this year reliance digital marketing company gave free laptops but with certain conditions to be met all in the category above as mentioned but entries economical earnings must be lower then their bar mentioned there is no need for other fees except 5k for caution deposit.For joining here you have to pass the jee advanced exam and enroll in a seperate counselling only for IIST in IIST home website

IIST - A good campus to live but with high restrictions.

Fees and Financial Aid:

NSP gives scholarship to sc and st category students and also financial aid to Gen EWS student (66% scholarship). A lot of other scholarship like relince digital and ongc scholarship the amount of scholarship is different for different categories and also depend on the provider.

The course fee is fixed and it takes approximately 8-10 lakhs in total for four years for a general category student, and it takes very much less if you have some kind of reservation. And they offer some scholarships but the income should be less.

Admission fee is 500. Development fee is 1000. Institute Security deposit is 5000. Tution Fee is 125000. Medical and insaurance fee is 4000. Library fee is 2000. Examination fee is 1000. Registration fee is 200. Hostel establishment charge is 10000. Hostel Rent is 6000. Electricity and water charge is 750. I don't have any scholarship and I have to pay 76700 per semester, doesn't include the mess fee. If you are OBC and annual income is less than 5 LPA the the tution fee will be 20850. If you are SC/ST and annual income is less than 8 LPA then the tution fee is Nil. If you are OBC and annual income is less than 1 LPA then also tution fee is Nil. Other fees are as usual for everyone. If you are scoring more than 9 gpa and you does not have any scholarship then you will get a scholarship of 50% on tution fee.

No, you are not eligible to apply for the Master of Technology [M. Tech] (Material Science and Technology) as the minimum eligibility set requires one to have B.E./B.Tech./Master of Science degree in the relevant subject from a recognized university with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks.
