When are the Summer Internships are announced at IIST?

IIST invites exceptional undergraduate and postgraduate students from Indian institutions/universities/colleges to engage in internships and research endeavours on its state-of-the-art campus. Through the Summer Internship, Year-Round Internship/Project, and PhD. Visiting Schemes, participants in science, engineering, technology, humanities, and related disciplines collaborate with esteemed faculty on groundbreaking research, gaining invaluable hands-on experience in cutting-edge facilities. Every year, the summer internship project will be announced in March, with the internship period taking place from June to July. The maximum duration of the internship is two months, and the minimum duration of the internship is one month. All the topics and the required number of summer internships will be announced on the webpage. Interns will directly apply through the portal. Selection will be done by the concerned faculty supervisor of the department. The selection list will be announced on the same portal. Only the selected students will receive an offer letter from the Dean of Student Activities.

What is the PhD Visiting Students Scheme at IIST?

IST offers avenues for collaborative research for PhD students from other institutions through the PhD. Visiting Students Scheme. The student can find the IIST Faculty with matching/complementary research areas. With the endorsement of his PhD supervisor and after mutual agreement with his supervisor and the faculty at IIST, the student can apply through the portal on the IIST website, which will remain open year-round. The application requires a detailed work plan to be carried out at IIST. Faculty at IIST will endorse the applicants visit and forward it to the internship committee for approval. The student will receive the confirmation letter from the Dean of Student Activities for planning the visit. PhD students affiliated with an Indian institution, university, or college will be considered for visits lasting between 1 and 3 months. The student has to submit an Endorsement Certificate for the visit from the student's parent institution, and the detailed research plan, duration of the visit, and intended use of IIST facilities, such as laboratory equipment, must be provided.

How Hostels at IIST are Administered?

The hostel system is administered under the guidance of the Registrar and the Dean (Student Activities, Student Welfare and Outreach), who serve as the apex authorities. The Deputy Registrar (Student Welfare and Outreach) oversees day-to-day operations with support from five Assistant Hostel Managers, two Hostel Supervisors, and Hostel Attendants. Each hostel is also supported by a Resident Faculty Warden, a faculty member residing on campus, to ensure closer engagement with the student community. To further personalise student support, a Council of Wardens has been established, assigning two faculty members to each hostel. This system fosters a strong sense of community and well-being, while also ensuring timely coordination with units such as the Civil Maintenance Division, Networking Division, etc., for attending to student complaints. The wardens play a crucial role in addressing student concerns, maintaining discipline, and upholding the Institutes code of conduct within the hostels, contributing significantly to the holistic development and welfare of students during their stay at IIST.

IIST Dream college For Space Enthusiasts

Most of the Students are being absorbed by ISRO. The rest are palced in different companies in Campus Placements. Almost 90% got palcement and some of them opt for higher studies. The companies like Dhruva Aerospace, Texas Intruments, Mercedes Benz, Bellatrix Aeroapce, CDAC, DRDO, ISRO, Intel, Mathworks, Skyroot Aerospace, Bosch, Mahindra, Agnikul Cosmos, SatSure etc. visit for Campus Plecement. The average is 11 LPA. The Highest would be 45 LPA. My plan is either getting placed in ISRO or go for higher studies in Aerospace Engineering.

There are placement drives in the 7th semester and internship can be applied from 3rd semseter itself. Opportunities are available at Institute around and also at SSpace. But major attraction is placement at ISRO

Students are eligible for placement from the 7th semester and internship from 3rd semester. You can apply for internship on your own right from first semester but college gives aid from 3rd semester. The major recruiter is ISRO which offers 40-45 jobs for aerospace engineering. Also other companies like CDac Airbus Boeing and DRDO and HAL visit for recruitment. Nearly 85-90% students get placed while some opt for Higher education and research too. My primary goal is to get into ISRO also I will be preparing for gate examination to complete my IIT dream.

IIST-An Unexplored Space

Placements happen in last semester of college. All students as of the current 2020 batch have a mandatory bond of 3 years to serve in ISRO organisations. From 2021 batch onwards, all companies are allowed to recruit from campus and there is no mandatory bond. companies visited include: ISRO DRDO HAL Mercedes benz Intel HP Skyroot Aerospace Garuda Aerospace etc. I plan to join DRDO as Scientist-C after completion of my degree

ISRO directly recruite from here and most of students go there only. Rest of students get placed in different companies like Agnikul, Skyroot etc. Avg package is about 10 LPA. ISRO package is about 13LPA.

Here generally students are placed in the ISRO( Indian Space Research Organization) and from the 2021 batch students will be interviewed by the ISRO board and will placed accordingly and average package provided by isro is around 12 lpa.
