Reality of Nit Jamshedpur

Likes

The main academic building of the college is very good where student attend lecture it is fully AC with fully Wi-Fi and the classrooms are very digital and highly maintained with good hygiene
The greenery of the college is also very good with so many trees and fresh air
Faculties are also good when it comes to support and guide

Dislikes

The campus is open for outsiders and they does not need any type of permission to get into the college
The Wi-Fi facility is poor all over the campus and jio network is also not available
The administrative work is slow when it comes to getting fee remission and scholarship

Placement Experience:

The placement of this college are the highlights of this college as it guarantees 95% placement rate in core branches also with an average package of 12.5 lakhs per annum which gets to 27 lakhs per annum for the CSE branch a total number of 750 companies visited this year some of the major companies are Tata Amazon Flipkart Zomato TCS larson and turbo Vedanta and many more my aim is to get job after the degree

The infrastructure of the new lecture hall i.e, known by DJLHC is very good. The classrooms are fully Air conditioning with external noise cancellation techniques.All classrooms have projectors for clearing the concept in better and effective way.
The teachers are well educated with PhD degree.The way , he delivers the concept is very amazing and understandable.Student-teacher bonding is very good.
The placement of the college is very good. Almost all students have been placed.Training and Placement Cell is organised for the guidance of the students.

Dislikes

Girls to boys ratio is very negligible i.e, around 1/3
There is no park , no swimming pool in the college for daily mood refreshment
The Laboratory instruments are very old and not replaced by new ones.

The placement services in the college is very good.Almost all students got placed. From 7th semester, students become eligible for campus placement. Company such as atlasian , Google , Amazon , Wipro , etc offers job. The highest package in my college is 83 lakh and average package is around 15 lakh.

NIT Jamshedpur - A quick Tour

the campus provides a vibrant environment and also good social interactions with a diverse student community. i am a part of entrepreneurship cell here which gives me a valuable exposure to startup culture and opportunity for networking
faculty are highly knowledgable and have significant experiences in their fields , the teaching approach is generally good they focus both therotical and practical learnings. they are approachable and open to guide students in research & projects
it has a dedicated placement cell that works actively to bring top companies for on campus recruitment . placement percentage is 95%

Dislikes

girls to boys ratio is very disappointing specially in civil and mechanical branches . my branch is civil engineering and there are only 20 girls out of 97 students
schedule is very hectic approx you have to attend 30 hours of classes per week
mess food quality is average although it maintain the standard of a balanced and nutrious diet

The college academic building is newly builded and has advanced features like Ac rooms ,digital rooms ,garden etc.its a beautiful building being the centre of attraction of the people and students to take admission .
There is an auto stand inside the campus so no need to opt for a drives.
Security is very well mannered as they do their work very sincerely .

Dislikes

The autoprices are so high so you have to spend alot money on your traveling expences if you love to travel.
The placement scenerio is going down this days
In my cource faculty do harsh checking and their is no mercy for students to opt marks very easily.

Placement Experience:

Yes it provides on campus placements.From the begining of 3rd year students are eligible to give tests and interviews for internship and at 4th year students apply for placement. Tata steel , google, JSW, TCS, infosys, google etc are some of the main recruiters.the highest package this year was 83 lakh rs and average package was 14 lakh rs.98 percent students are placed .I will opt for gate examination after completing my degree.

All about NIT JSR

Likes

Institute has diversified clubs which are superactive.
There's no ragging in this college and junior senior interaction is minimal.
you can experience a lot of sporting activities going on all around the college.

Dislikes

there should be an Improvement in the infrastructure specially for the labs and hostels.
boys and girls ration is 5:1 as ecpected.

Placement Experience:

Placements are top notch for all branches CSE avg is 26lpa, ECE avg is 24 lpa, and all the core branches have 100% placement with about 10 lpa avg package. You get intership opportunity from 3rd year and fron 1st as well ( depends on you skills). Jamshedpur is an industrial area so you get companies like tata ,l&t, Adani groups etc for core branches.

An unbiased review on NIT Jamshedpur

Likes

I like the placement statistics of the college which attracts various students , which is very good even for core branches.
The college life is not that happening lest you find good friends with whom you can hangout and enjoy.
The DJLHC is the best building in the college , and the classroom experience is very good.

Dislikes

No night life in the college, and lack of canteens and good food options.
The college is an open campus so people from outside too roam around the college which is quite unsafe for some people
The library, and TSG building of the college close at 9 p.m. so you have to go back to your hostels early.

Likes

The first thing i like after coming to NIT Jamshedpur is the tag of NIT. The respect, achievement you get after getting here is totally worth
The placement here is one of the thing which is the major reason for me to choose this college

Dislikes

The NIRF disappoints me the most after coming , even having lot of good and potential things here still standing out the under 100
The open campus problem is biggest disliked thing here

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is here like all other NITs and IITs same , like old theoritical no real life implementation. But now some new advances trending courses are being introduced here like AI,ML and all which is good for gainnig real life skills .Slowly Slowly the curriculum is being updated . The frequency of exams are like same in like all the colleges four exams , two mid and two end terms in the year . the enough preparation gaps in between

Likes

From 2nd year students get their own rooms in hostels
The social life of campus is very healthy and interactive
The training and placement cell of college is excellent and ensure a good performance of the students in the placements

Dislikes

college could build some infrastructures and should have some more equipments
The course curriculum seems somewhat irrelevant
Some faculties seem somewhat like they know nothing and God knows how did they get into this profession

Placement Experience:

As the reputation of nit stands Campus placement of the college is quite good even among the other nits. NIT JAMSHEDPUR is an underdog among the other NITs .The students are eligible for campus placement in their fourth year of college.More than 260 companies visit the college for placements. Among them are Atlassian, Bank of New York,Texas Instruments, Accenture,fastenal, Tata Steel, JSW, TATA Power, Jindal Steel Limited ,Nvidia, Powergrid,etc. The highest package offered is 82lpa and the average package is 12.63lpa.About 93 % students are placed every year.After the degree,I will join a well reputed company as an sde

Good college, decent placements

Likes

Placements are very good compared to other NITs and colleges. For 2024 batch, placement percentage was around 90% despite hiring freezes and recession.
Hostels are really good, giving single rooms from 2nd year onwards for boys. Also new hostels have been built recently, adding more to the already decent no. of hostels. Also wifi is available in hostels and lecture hall complex, lan facility as well
Highly competitive environment for students and really awesome coding culture which is very well reflected on the placements and various competitions. It's also a great place for core interested students

Dislikes

Labs weren't well built during my time, though they have started renovating them lately and is likely to improve.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for campus placements from 7th semester onwards. A good number of MNCs is visit including Google, Rubrik, Uipath, Microsoft, Atlassian, etc. Highest package is 1.23 crores pa and average is 10 LPA. The percentage of students getting place last season was a 90% which is a very good percentage compared to other NITs. After getting a degree I look to join a decent software company, where I can use my skills to grow in the company

Great placement and environmental is very good lot of greenary
Faculty members are very helpful and well knowledgeable with most of them are phd holders
Size of campus is 380 acres approx .many things to explore

Dislikes

Drinking water facility some times bad and not available
Attendance 75% but yeah they allow below 75% also and yes there is a marks for attendance . So it is good

Placement Experience:

Placement are record breaking 7th semester onwards company start visiting our campus . Many companies like Microsoft amazon flipkart Deloitte icici bank .axis bank axxela blackrock capillary atlasian and many more u can take reference from nit jamshedpur Placement linkdein profile . Highest package offered 83 lpa Avg 12 lpa 93% Placement till now for batch 2024 and its still going .

My friend recently graduated from NIT Jamshedpur. Here is her review.

Location: The campus is located in Adityapur, surrounded by industries. It is a bit away from Tatanagar Railway Station. Since Jamshedpur doesn’t have an airport the best way to reach the campus is from Ranchi via NH-33.

Infrastructure-wise: Both the hostels and the computer centers are revamped. The main buildings of the campus are still under further development but are expected to be in maintenance soon. However, the mega hostels, known as J & K, are an enhanced sight of the campus.

Academics

The quality of professors or the methodology of their teaching is quite not up to the mark. Few professors of the institute somewhat still follow the old pedagogy and are sometimes not cooperative. On contrary, the newly appointed Ad-hoc faculties are supportive and are willing to guide students.
Students of the institute perform well in competitive examinations. Many made it to IITs, IIMs, or various international institutes as well.
The Central Workshop and laboratories, substantially Fluid, Thermodynamics, and Metallurgical are not quite well maintained.
