NIT Jamshedpur Faculties : Students' Opinion

AI-Generated Summary based on 730 Reviews

The faculty at NIT Jamshedpur is highly qualified, with most holding PhDs from prestigious institutions like IITs and NITs. They are knowledgeable and supportive, but there are mixed reviews regarding teaching quality. Some faculty members are very effective, while others lack engagement and rely on outdated methods. The college has been hiring new faculty to enhance educational standards, which has improved the overall faculty quality.

The student-faculty ratio is approximately 1:15, allowing for good interaction. However, more modern teaching methods and a curriculum update are suggested to align with industry trends. The exam system is comprehensive, including mid-semester, end-semester, and internal assessments, emphasizing continuous learning.

Faculty:

Faculty to students ratio is decent. And yes some faculties are very approachable and supportive, they will guide you not in just academic but through your life too. We have a calculus faculty Mr Ramayan sir, he's a great teacher and a great person. He's very approachable. There is a engineering chemistry faculty named SK Prasad sir, he's very rude to students and doesn't teach properly so I personally don't like him. In one semester we have 2 exams mid sem exams and end sem exams, i would rate difficulty of exams with 4 out of 5. And currently they have changed their curriculum so it's more relevant to our industry now.

Faculty:

The faculty to student ratio is very nice in my department of Mechanical engineering around 40 faculty is there @ 120 students. Some faculties are really supportive and and promote you to explore new things. Some faculties are really strict and focus on the subject curriculum. Within 20 to 30 days of course there is always exams and quizzes. There is one mid semester exam and one and semester exam the level of difficulty of examination is moderate to difficult no exam is going to be easy. Faculties always surprise with new questions.

Faculty:

Faculty to students ratio is very much good. Good Faculties are very much like mentor. They guide Students like parents. Anushree Dutta ma'am(MME dept) is one of the prof that I like as she is very much pure soul. She's like GuruMata to me. Another is Vajpayee Sir(MME dept), he's very very wise. He's spiritual too. He's teaching style resonates with HC Verma Sir. Aravind Gali Sir(MME dept), is highly intellectual. He's like our mentor. Monalisa ma'am(MME) is a gem. She's very very good and pure soul. Binay Sir(MME) is a very good human. He teaches very well. And he encourages students for startups or skill-enhancement. Shailesh Sir(ME) is very good soul. He's very much into spirituality too. Not only he teaches to make students ready for exams, but also for life. Each semester, there is midsem and endsem. Exams are very much relevant to course curriculum.

Each department has around 20-40 faculty . All are well qualified and almost everyone has done PhD, besides them, we have PhD scholars teaching us in labs. All are well qualified and have grasp over there subjects Some do have a lot of pride and may make you feel irritated but common that's the story everywhere. Some faculties are quite good, they do teach well and hand out marks liniently Some do not give marks at all might happen they may fail you. We have two exams per semester one mid term and one end term , along with that we are given assignments time to time that we need to submit before a particular deadline. The curriculum is neither too relevant nor too irrelevant could have been better Generally in a batch of 120, only 5-6 fail in more than 3 subjects and around 15 - 20 fail the tougher subjects.

The Course structure of our college is very tight , It is very difficult to score a good CGPA without hardwork. The Scheme of Examination are as follows : (Per Semester) 1. Teacher assesment : 20 Marks 2.Mid Semester Examination : 30 Marks 3.End Semester Examination : 50 Marks Each and Every Subject Posses a unique Credit and there is absolute grading system not relative marking. Although Some Faculties were Very Helpful but they are very few, not every one will help you in any case .
