College Life and placement Scenario of SVNIT

Likes

Student and professor is very friendly and well behaved
All infrastructure are available in institute premises.
Placement is descent compare to other college and at this level.

Dislikes

Mess food is not upto the mark and you miss home food
No proper playing area for student and for other activity
No guidance between senior and junior and coding culture is not good

Course Curriculum Overview:

Curriculum is very much relevant and upto the mark regular meetuing happen with student and teacher and some outside faculty also visit for checking of syllabus and exam difficulty is medium if you solve past year paper you can clear the exams.

Inside SVNIT: A students’s UNFILTERED view

SVNIT Surat is standing on very vast land of around 250 acres. The most fascinating thing is SVNIT is situated in the porshe area of the city Surat.
Generally a class comprises of around 60-70 students coming from different parts of india. Talking about my class , we are the class of 65 student where there are 13 girls and rest are boys. So it is 1:4 gender ratio.
Our most of faculties are done with phd from iit and nit. Some of them are from iisc also. They forward their conceptual knowledge very easily, they communicate to students very friendly and are very lenient.

Dislikes

The only thing i found dislike about is our classroom structure. Classroom are big with no sound system where some professors speak so slow that we are even not able to listen them. So this should be the point of consideration
In SVNIT , first year students are not allowed to take part in any of the club due to ragging ands so on. On forward to second year , they can participate. So this is one point which is also good and bad.
In SVNIT , There is less sports facilities in the campus. Although students of SVNIT had won several medals in inter-NIT meet.

Placement Experience:

Talking about the placements , SVNIT stands in front like other NITs. Recently convocation was held to honor the degrees. Talking about my branch, various companies arrive and offer decent packages. These companies include reliance, Aarti industries etc. various students prepare for GATE and join PSUs like Kribhco, ONGC and more .. In previous year , chemical engineering branch holds the highest rate of placement in the institute of atound 85% in which highest package was around 14 LPA and average package being atound 9 LPA.

Likes

Nice campus and good ecosystem for learning new things and more scope of improving ourselves.
Good academic facilities and library facilities
More scope for extracurricular activities

Dislikes

Less importance to sports and not good facilities for sports
Mess food should be improved and no non veg

Placement Experience:

The placements are decent in the college. At the Start of final year students are eligible for sitting in placements. Almost ,90 out of 120 students in our class got placed and highest package is around 11lakhs Companies like reliance, jsw, upl comes to placements

Likes

I like the way of infrastructure of the lab, department, college
I also like the way and toughness of exams
I like the events of the college,clubs and organisations

Dislikes

I did not like the old buildings of the college
I did not like the old and fading hostels
I was not familiar with the local language

Placement Experience:

Placements percentage in svnit has more for chemical while the packages are high for ece and CSE. ECE with 50LPA and CSE with 52LPA. Civil and mech are not bad but less placement percentage. It's good new breaches like ai,vlsi

Likes

Excellent infrastructure with well-equipped laboratories, experienced faculty members
The labs and infrastructure for ECE are well-maintained
Active student clubs, technical events, and seminars that help in overall skill development and industry exposure.

Dislikes

Placement opportunities in the core ECE domain are sometimes less compared to software sectors.
Hostel food quality and mess variety need improvement for better student satisfaction.
Administrative work like documentation and approvals can be a bit slow

Placement Experience:

Placement of my college is decent enough as per NITs. From 7 semester students become eligible for campus placements. Companies like Micron, GE Healthcare, Visa, MasterCard and more visited and offer 6 to 7 candidates depending on requirement. Highest package is 57 LPA in CSE branch and 35 LPA in ECE branch. In CSE Placement percentage is 94% and in ECE it is 84%. I will go for College placements and will give government exams and GATE exam.

The college provides on campus internship opportunities from 5th semester and in most of the cases, placement offers are also provided during this internship time, if your performance in this internships is good enough, then the same company offers job during 6th or 7th sem. Also campus placement interview starts from 7th semester and almost all deserving students gets placed till February or march month of 8th semester. Percentage wise almost 75-80% students gets placed excluding who are unable to sit in placements due to backlog and typical 6-7CGPA minimum criteria

Our campus is very big ,250 acres that the most beautiful thing and our campus is so green that's why I like this campus.
In my campus all professor are so well experienced and most of them are friendly in nature that's the amazing thing for me.
I like the cultural event and technical event minded the cultural event sparsh was very good in my college.

Dislikes

In our civil department the infrastructure is very old that's the thing I dislike more and the civil department related lab are not so clean .
Our college is situated in main city surat and out of campus area is so expensive for me that I dislike more.
Since 50 percent of the students are from Gujarat that's why I face challanges to talk with him but I learn soon gujrati.

Placement Experience:

In my college the placement no is good it's depends on the branch in my college the cs placement is very good last year a cs department guy have got 52 lakh pakage ,and in my department civil the avg package is around 7 lakhs so it is difficult to me grab the better package but I am sure that I grab any package from this college.

College great for exploration and great career opportunities

I like the college infrastructure,The fest and the city of Surat is fastest developing city.

Dislikes

I don't like the faculty including phd and assistant professor.The don't manage and cope with students.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose chemical engineering as I thought it will be of my field.I It offers less competition compared to other engineering branches.The exams takes over an interval of 2 months and the exams are tough as professor asks tough questions compared to what they taught in class.

Great college for exposure and exploring yourself

Likes

1:6 is the girls is to boy ratio in the college ..
Location of college is very good in the centre of posh area
College provides great exposure and freedom to its students.

Dislikes

Infrastructure of college can be improved
Sports facilities and equipments can be improved
Mess facilities can also be improved in hostel.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is inclined towards VLSI technology and semiconductor. Curriculum is updated and inclined towards industry and real world applications. Two paper mid and semester examination are there . Difficulty level is medium.

Great college for exploring and learning.

Likes

The location of the campus is very amazing and very beautiful as it is right in the center of city's posh area.
We have various beaches nearby which makes this college location amazing.
Also we can find various student chapter and clubs inside college which helps us in our interested extracurricular activities

Dislikes

The infrastructure is not that great as it is developing.
The girl isto boy ratio is around 1:5 which is very low
The canteen food and the hostel food is not that great but yes its average.

Placements of the college is good and students can start their placement drive from 7th semister and can sit in on-campus placement. The average package is around 11lpa and for cse its around 15lpa and the highest package was 60lpa. Total 75% students gets placed in various big and multinational companies.

My review of SVNIT is a mixed one. It is a good choice in almost every aspect other than sports.

For sports enthusiasts, SVNIT is not the right choice. The condition of sports facilities at our college is not good. The sports grounds are not in a good shape. The cricket/football ground becomes a grassland from July to December.

The indoor badminton courts, which are two in number, are immensely insufficient to cater to around 4000 students. Each one has to wait a long time for their turn, and is given around 10 minutes to play the sport. Such a huge number of students can not access the badminton courts for sufficient durations. MMNCT is the best sports event of the year. It is an inter-year cricket tournament that takes place at night. The gym is well designed and has all the modern equipment.

Many classes are boring. But a lot of the professors, especially in the Civil department, teach really well. The marking system is very transparent, and after 15-30 days post the exams, answer sheets are made available for students to have a look. The classrooms are also very school-like in appearance. The rules are lenient, and most teachers are satisfied with a 60% student attendance.

The location is quite good, and malls, theaters, etc. are easily accessible. The campus is located in a posh area of Surat. Places like Mumbai, Daman, etc. are easily accessible for getaways. The placements are top notch, the clubs are plenty and quite decent. The mess food is quite good as well.

Unless you are very serious about getting the best sports facilities, SVNIT is a good college. But for sports facilities, I would recommend you try for MNIT Jaipur.
