Campus environment nad greenery I like the most

Placement Experience:

Placement of our branch is good . Highest package is of 18,00,000 per year and lowest package is of 6,00,000 per year . Average package of chemical branch is 9,50,000 per year (from last year data) Average 88% students placed last year .

Likes

The greenery and environment if college is too good .
All the departments, labs, workshop and library have good Infrastructure except civil and mechanical department.
Faculty is too supportive and helpful. Their method of teaching is also good .

Dislikes

Intime of Institute. It's only 10.30 pm .
Canteen infrastructure is not so good . But they are building a food court. And it will be ready in couple of month .
Food of hostel mess is not so good . If roti is good then sabji is bad and if sabji is good then we don't like roti that day .

From 7 th semester students become eligible for campus placement. There is 88% ( average from last 2-3 years ) students get placed from on campus placement. There are too many companies which visit every year . Like reliance. Bhel, etc ... Highest Placement of last year was 19 lpa in chemical , lowest was 6 lpa and average package is around 9.5 lpa. I want to do mtech .

Svnit: Placement and college life

The campus is very big it has a plenty of buildings divided for each department and there are several labs in with very advanced equipments.
The faculties are really good very friendly sometimes and it will help you in every point of your college life. At least that's what I thought professors are really approachable here.
The best food I would say is really good compared to the other college that's what I get to know from my friends.

Dislikes

The sports facility in this college is really bad when compared to the other NITs or National institute.
Even though this college is really old but sometimes it feels the management is not really good sometimes they clustered the events.
There are several restrictions on the first year students that makes it very difficult to enjoy the campus life.

Students usually start there preparation for the placement in the third year and the company started to visit here in the fourth year the placements around goes for like 8 to 9 month. In 2024 the highest package was like 52 lakh and average package was around 8 to 9 lakh. Talking about electrical department last year 102 hour of 120 students were placed in the college campus. White variety of the companies visit here to recruit the students from the campus.

Yes I like greatful it's awesome. Hostel is excellent
Nice college professors are good I like professors teaching style
Boys girl rasio is 1:3 it slightly good.

Dislikes

College mentainance time period is very long.
College is old than new building are made for us but it is delay
Ranging is not available that is bad for students.

Placement Experience:

College mechanical engineering branch placements ratio is good around 75%. Last year Highest package of mechanical branch is 21 lakh and average is 9lakh and lowest 5lakh which is good. I thought about designing.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Very well designed curriculum and more of related subjects compared to other colleges. Frequency of exam is 2 times of a semester a mid sem and end sem just like other colleges . It helps use with real world problems

Likes

Professors in chemical Engineering department. All are very supportive.
Exposure available due to college, the tag of National Institute of Technology, Surat ; NIRF : 59
College fests , activities, clubs and college's encouragement to get students involved in various inter college competitions and fests.

Dislikes

Campus Life is bit okayish. Not as expected.
Girls Hostel rules are very strict , even very irrelatble and of orthodox nature .

Placement Experience:

From 7th semester students get placement. Placements of Institute are very good. Average package was 10.41 lac CTC. In chemical Engineering it was 9.46 lac. In chemical engineering , last year out of 111 students 111 were eligible for placement and 81 got placed. Highest salary offered was 19.90 lac. My plans after getting a degree is to continue a job in core chemical only.

Decent college

Likes

I found found professors of my college are very helpful to me.
Specially our seniors are very helpful to us and there is almost zero percentage of ragging even our senior help us by creating groups and through call also.
Our college infrastructure is good. In my 1st semester I realised that it is not as that easy as we thought because the things becomes complexity day by day.

Dislikes

I found my college has to take focus on cleaniness of campus
I think less no. of girls opt engeneering because of why my college girls boys ratio is 7:3

As per my knowledge at the beginning of 6th sem students are getting placed at the known companies. Adobe, amazon and the other well known companies has offered last year. Highest package is 52 lpa Average package is 11 lpa Median package is 9 lpa 80-90% students getting placed

Review of Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology, Surat

My college is spanned to 250 acres with excellent infrastructure and equipments.
Sports activities and tournaments are organised every year
Placement of our college is ver good as nearly 85% students are placed every year.

Dislikes

Work load is more for students in terms of file submission, quizzes, midsem and endsem.
Hostel and mess food is not good upto a certain extent
Roads are not repaired properly and have bumps and water logging in rainy season.

Placement Experience:

Placement of my college is decent enough as per NITs. From 7 semester students become eligible for campus placements. Companies like Micron, GE Healthcare, Visa, MasterCard and more visited and offer 6 to 7 candidates depending on requirement. Highest package is 57 LPA in CSE branch and 35 LPA in ECE branch. In CSE Placement percentage is 94% and in ECE it is 84%. I will go for College placements and will give government exams and GATE exam.

SVNIT College Review

The campus is big enough, initially i thought it won't be too big to explore but i was amazed after reaching there. I am from Chemical engineering department and we have our own building where classes happen and the quality of labs are good too
Maximum of the faculty in this department is very good and i like their way of teaching.Personally for me the hostel food is okay, not like you won't miss your mother's handmade food but it is above average than what everyone from other college get.

Dislikes

The sports facility here is not as good as other NIT'S have, they just have one ground where football and cricket both are played and it is not maintained too throughout the year.
The college does not have its separate auditorium. In 1st year, you have to be in the hostel before 7:30 pm and after that you cannot go out to the hostel and this is a bit frustrating

Placement Experience:

Normally students start preparing for placements rigorously in 3rd year and companies start coming in the starting of the 4th year and the placement drive happens for 9-10 months in different phases. Talking about 2023-2024 placements, there were decrease in no. of companies visiting here and also decrease in the median package due to the recession going on. But in previous years more than 150 companies visted the campus and it included companies like Morgan Stanley, Goldmann Sachs, Flipkart etc. and the no. of students getting placed was quite good too. In chemical department 102/115 students were placed with a median package of around 9 lpa. People also crack GATE in their 3rd year or 4th year, I know one of my senior who cracked GATE with a rank under 10, also there have been students here who had secured rank 1 in GATE. The percentage of students placed also remains decent every year except this particular year since the recession has hit the industry at a good level. The highest package this year was around 52 lpa and the average package was somewhere around 12 lpa.

KNOW ABOUT SVNIT

Likes

College has a very good central library which has centralised A.C.
Professors are highly qualified and have good teaching skills.
Hostel is also good , room size is sufficient

Dislikes

Hostel facilities can be improved including mess.
There is huge intake of students in the college
There is lack of infrastructure as compared to the intake

Placement Experience:

Students of 3 year are eligible for internship opportunities and at the end of third year students can sit for placements. College has highest placement of 54 LPA and lowest is 3 LPA. For mechanical department it is 19LPA and 5LPA respectively with average of 9.3 LPA. Top companies like Mercedes Benz, John Deere , Bajaj , LNT , Suzuki,etc comes for placements

My review of SVNIT is a mixed one. It is a good choice in almost every aspect other than sports.

For sports enthusiasts, SVNIT is not the right choice. The condition of sports facilities at our college is not good. The sports grounds are not in a good shape. The cricket/football ground becomes a grassland from July to December.

The indoor badminton courts, which are two in number, are immensely insufficient to cater to around 4000 students. Each one has to wait a long time for their turn, and is given around 10 minutes to play the sport. Such a huge number of students can not access the badminton courts for sufficient durations. MMNCT is the best sports event of the year. It is an inter-year cricket tournament that takes place at night. The gym is well designed and has all the modern equipment.

Many classes are boring. But a lot of the professors, especially in the Civil department, teach really well. The marking system is very transparent, and after 15-30 days post the exams, answer sheets are made available for students to have a look. The classrooms are also very school-like in appearance. The rules are lenient, and most teachers are satisfied with a 60% student attendance.

The location is quite good, and malls, theaters, etc. are easily accessible. The campus is located in a posh area of Surat. Places like Mumbai, Daman, etc. are easily accessible for getaways. The placements are top notch, the clubs are plenty and quite decent. The mess food is quite good as well.

Unless you are very serious about getting the best sports facilities, SVNIT is a good college. But for sports facilities, I would recommend you try for MNIT Jaipur.
