IIT Hyderabad MDes admission are currently going on. The last date for submission of online applciation for the MDes program is April 08, 2024. The institute accepts valid CEED scores for shortlisting the candidates. Further, candidates are reuqired to appear for an aptitue test and personal interview conducted by the Department of Design to be selected for the IIT Hyderabad MDes program. 

IIT Hyderabad offers a 2-year-long MDes program in 3 specialsiations namely Visual Design, Product Design, and Interaction Design. The minimum eligibility required for admission is a degree/diploma/post graduate degree programme of minimum three years (after 10+2 level) along with a valid CEED scores. However, for the self-sponsored candidates CEED score is not mandatory. The performance in the written test and personal interview determines admission to the MDes program for both the regular and self-sponsored candidates.

Candidates must have at least 55% (50% in the case of SC/ST) or comparable grades in the qualifying examinations, which are as follows:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Design, or Interior Design, or an equivalent (4-year program following 10+2)
  • Professional Diploma in Design (NID/CEPT or 4-year program equivalent after 10+2)
  • BFA (four-year professional program following 10+2)
  • Professional background Master of Arts / Science / Computer Applications (2-year program following 10+2+3).

For MoE seats: The Common Entrance Test for Design is the qualifying exam (CEED)
  • Shortlisting for Design Aptitude Test (DAT) based on a Valid CEED Score

  • Shortlisting for Personal interview based on step-2
Selection Process for Self-sponsored seats:

CEED certification is not required for the Self-sponsored category. Students must, however, meet the other eligibility criteria listed for admittance to the M Des program.

The selection procedure consists of three steps. To shortlist for the DAT and personal interview, an online screening test will be administered. Applicants who do not take the online screening test will be disqualified from the admissions process.

At IIT Hyderabad Master of Design Program is Available in 3 (Regular) Specializations.

  • M Des in Visual Design: This two-year Visual Design degree opens up a world of tangible and intangible expressions in Graphic Design, Typography, Illustration, Publishing, and Visual Branding. Moving images, animations, film design, space and architecture, web and interaction design, and newer technologies that require user engagement and experience are also included.
  • M Des in Interaction Design: This is a two-year Interaction Design curriculum that provides an opportunity to learn about human, non-human, spatial, and technological components of Interaction Design.
