NIT Rourkela Reviews on Placements, Faculty and Facilities
Rourkela, OdishaAutonomous UniversityEstd 1961NAAC Grade
What Students Say
Likes
- It offers a great placement after the course completion, companies like microsoft, amazon google, flipkart and other companies like goldman sachs come to recruit new freshers in their companies and even offer internships as well.
- The fests conducted in our college are worth enjoying and marvelous talent is encouraged.
- No fees hike policy.cost to study is a bit high for a government organisation but it's worth it.scholarship opportunities financial assistance and job opportunities are very satisfactory over here.
Dislikes
- The scholarship availability should not be below 5 lakh.. it should be a larger number beacuse 5 lakh income is lower income than a lower middle class family.
- The faculty advisor is a very rude and strict person who doesn't understand the student's problems.
- Placements for lower branches are not that good and being a remote area more companies are not coming to college

- The environment is great and you'll meet the top students of India with brilliant minds. You'll learn a lot throughout your journeyney
- Faculty and professors are helpful and they try to resolve student's doubt.
- Great infrastructure. You will not only get to see a big campus but overall the infrastructure is great.
Dislikes
- Specially for girls ( if you get cvr hall of residence you will have to share a your room. The room are not spacious enough to occupy two people. Sadly, you have to manage with that
- As in any other college, there will some days when you feel zonism is there. ( people will prioritize oria people)
- Mess food is not that good. Hygiene issues will be there. I haven't faced it much as i am vegetarian and i joined the green mess of our college which serves tasty hygienic food.
Course Curriculum Overview:
You 'll get a whole range of courses. And there are some extra courses as well which is not provided by every college. Exams are conducted in a disciplined way. Punctuality and strictness is mainatined by both staffs and students. I think the staffs should be more strict to prevent students to cheat in the exams as there our students who are smart enough and they manage to cheat even in this strict environment.

- The campus is vast full of greenery and lakes.
- The faculties are also friendly in nature.
Dislikes
- The mess food is quite disappointing but if you avail for garden green mess it's food is so good.
- There is no western style toilets in any hostel except few.
- The size of hostel room is also very small to fit to students.
Placement Experience:
The placement of my college is very good. The college offers an average package of 12-13 LPA and a median package of 11 LPA. The highest package of my college is 84 LPA. The placement percentage is about 90% but this year due to the recession the percentage is quite low. The top tech companies visit my college like Microsoft, Google, Amazon, and Barclays.

- Every department has a unique building design.
Dislikes
- The attendance criteria is very strict .
- In internet you will see internet criteria is 85% but in reality it is above that.
- Some professors do not teach upto the mark and make it very boring class.
Placement Experience:
Placements are good and in all the branches almost everyone gets placed and infact some branches there is 100 percent placement and many companies visit this college for placements however if someone is looking for PSUs those companies only accept through gate

- The campus is good and Greenery is there
- Hostel are decent and the occupancy is not more than 2 person
- Many clubs are there for your overall development
Dislikes
- Things I disliked was the attendance scenario, in online reviews you'll see that the attendance percentage is 85% but in reality it's actually 87.5-90% which is just too much and infact you'll be hearing that in orientation
- Resources are not that much the quantity of the required machines is not up to the mark for almost all the departments, for each group there will be only one machine and you'll have to wait a lot for your turn
- Academic pressure is actually too much and i have heard this from almost everyone, you don't get leave easily even if you're too much sick, mostly professors are not good and not supportive and understanding
Student Snaps:
Course Curriculum Overview:
Course is decent however the course of nit rourkela is more harder than the courses of other nits i mean the exams are more harder than other colleges, other than that there are some extra elective courses regardless of any all the branches which can be helpful to increase the gpa and talking about the Mining department, the quantity of machine's are very less and the professors are mostly not good

NIT Rourkela: 1 Answered Question
What is your review of National Institute of Technology, Rourkela (NIT-RKL)?
Akriti Banerjeelives in New Delhi
A friend at NIT Rourkela gave me a detailed review of her college the last time she visited me. Here are some highlights from her descriptive experience
- NIT Rourkela has a huge, serene, and well-secured campus.
- The institute has diverse clubs that promote extracurricular activities and their performance is better than most clubs of other engineering colleges.
- Decent Internet speed is offered and the Dc++ is well maintained.
- The hostels are well-maintained and decked with all the basic amenities one could ask for.
- Students are actively involved in sports such as gymming and swimming.
- The faculties are a mixed bag. Some are underqualified and lethargic while some motivate you to become a better person.
- The institute boasts of an extensive entrepreneurship culture.
- The institute needs to work on increasing its alumni base and the level of fests it organizes given the huge income the institute generates.
- The placement scenario varies from branch to branch. It's decent for branches like CS while pathetic for others.
- Rourkela does not have any places to explore and also lacks flight connectivity.
- The city of Rourkela is one of the cleanest places so hygiene is not an issue here.
These were some snippets from the detailed experience shared by my friend. Hope this helped you.
