Brunel University admissions run on a September primary intake plus a smaller January window for taught postgraduate courses. Indian applicants need around 75% in Class XII for a Bachelor’s, or 55 to 60% in a relevant Bachelor’s for a Master’s, along with IELTS 6.0 to 6.5.

  • Next live deadline: September 2026 taught postgraduate applications close 17 July 2026.
  • Base tuition: from £17,400 (around ₹22.26 Lakhs) yearly, and no direct application fee.
  • Eligibility criteria: Class XII 75%+ (UG) or Bachelor’s 55%+ (PG) plus IELTS 6.0 to 6.5.
  • Acceptance rate: estimated between 65 and 70%, among the more accessible research-active London universities.

Popular programmes with Indian applicants include BSc Computer Science, MSc Data Science and Analytics, and the one-year Brunel MBA. Students speak well of the industry-linked teaching and the single-campus setup in Uxbridge. See our full Brunel University of London profile for programme lists and student reviews.

Rolling PhD and research Year-round Programme-dependent

Brunel University London Eligibility Requirements

Brunel sets institution-wide minimums that most programmes build on, then adds subject prerequisites and higher English bands where relevant. Indian applicants meet these with a strong Class XII record for a Bachelor’s, or a Bachelor’s at 55%+ for a Master’s. The bands below reflect the international entry requirements page.

Brunel University Academic Minimums by Level

  • UG general entry: A-level ABB or Class XII around 75 to 80% (CBSE, ISC).
  • UG engineering: A-level BBB or Class XII around 70% with Maths and Physics.
  • PG taught: UK 2:2 or Indian Bachelor’s at 55 to 60% in a related field.
  • MBA: UK 2:1 (Indian Bachelor’s 60%+) plus three years of full-time work.
  • PhD: UK 2:1 or First plus a written research proposal aligned with a supervisor.

What English Tests Does Brunel University Accept?

Brunel accepts several English tests, with per-programme minimums layered on top. The institution-wide bands sit below.

Test UG Minimum PG Taught Minimum
IELTS Academic 6.0 (5.5 per band) 6.5 (6.0 per band)
TOEFL iBT 77 overall (4.5 to 5 under the new TOEFL) 90 overall
PTE 59 (59 per section) 59 to 64 overall
BrunELT (in-house) 6.0 6.5

Brunel University IELTS Waiver for Indian Students

Brunel accepts qualification-based English evidence where prior study was delivered in English. Indian students with strong Class XII English marks from CBSE, ICSE, or major state boards may be assessed under this route, subject to course-specific rules. The waiver does not apply when a course requires a UKVI Secure English Language Test. Confirm eligibility in writing with the Brunel international team before skipping a test booking.

Programme-specific bands sit higher than the institution-wide floor. Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, and Social Work require higher per-section scores. MBBS Medicine follows its own English rules through the Medical School. Always cross-check the course page before applying.

Brunel University London PG Programmes

Brunel’s postgraduate portfolio spans engineering, computing, business, health, education, and social sciences, with most taught courses run over one year full-time. Base tuition sits at £24,795 (around ₹31.73 Lakhs) per year for most Master’s, and the Brunel MBA is priced separately. See the course-wise fees breakdown for the full list. The programmes below are among the most-applied by Indian students, with figures verified from each course page.

Brunel University London UG Programmes

Brunel’s undergraduate portfolio runs three-year Bachelor’s degrees, with a four-year sandwich variant on most courses that adds a paid placement year in industry. International tuition ranges from £17,400 (₹22.34 Lakhs) for BSc Computer Science up to £21,795 (₹27.98 Lakhs) for engineering, per the official degree costs page. Indian applicants apply through UCAS.

Brunel University London MBA Admissions

The Brunel MBA is a one-year full-time (or two-year part-time) MBA programme run by Brunel Business School. It targets working professionals with three or more years of managerial or team-lead experience. Full-time international tuition sits at £29,500 (around ₹37.75 Lakhs) for 2026 entry, with the same fee for UK students. No GMAT or GRE is required.

Brunel University MBA Entry Requirements

Two academic routes lead to a Brunel MBA seat, and both are open to Indian applicants:

  • Standard route: UK 2:1 (Indian Bachelor’s 60%+) plus three years of full-time work.
  • Experience route: UK 2:2 or HND plus six years of managerial work experience.

Brunel University MBA Application Rounds and Interview

Brunel MBA runs on rolling review with two annual entry points in September and January. Applications for September 2026 close on 17 July 2026, and January 2027 applications close on 13 November 2026. Shortlisted applicants sit a Stage 2 interview over Microsoft Teams with the MBA Programme Team, focused on career goals, leadership examples, and programme fit.

Insider note: The Business School closes early when its class fills. A late July application, even if within the official window, will often be rolled to January. Applying by end of May tightens the odds for a full-scholarship review.

Brunel University London PhD Admissions

Brunel accepts PhD applications year-round, with formal start dates most commonly in October, January, and April. Research areas span computing, engineering, business, health, education, law, and the creative arts. Approval hinges on academic strength plus a compelling research proposal aligned with a supervisor’s active work.

Brunel University PhD Entry Requirements

  • Academic: UK 2:1 or First-Class Honours (Indian Bachelor’s 65%+), Master’s often preferred.
  • Language: IELTS 6.5 base, and 7.0 for Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, or Social Work.
  • Research proposal: 1,500 to 3,000 words on question, method, and fit with a named supervisor.

Brunel University PhD Fees for Indian Students

International PhD tuition for 2025/26 ran from £22,320 to £24,795 (around ₹28.56 to ₹31.73 Lakhs) per year depending on college. The 2026/27 rate is pending confirmation and subject to the standard annual increase capped at 5% or RPI, whichever is higher. Fully funded studentships attach to specific projects only, so filter by college and department to see live openings.

Planning note: Indian PhD applicants often underestimate the supervisor-matching stage. A polished proposal without a supervisor’s informal green light usually stalls. Email two or three researchers with a short pitch before formal application.

Brunel University London Application Process

Application routes split by level. Undergraduate applications go through UCAS, and postgraduate (including MBA and PhD) go direct through Brunel’s eVision portal. Both use rolling review, with offers arriving within four to eight weeks of a complete file. Deposits secure a place after an offer.

Brunel University Application Journey Step-by-Step

  1. Choose the route: UCAS for undergraduate, and eVision for MSc, MA, MBA, PhD, MRes.
  2. Register a file: open an account, adding personal details, prior schooling, and work history.
  3. Upload supporting documents: transcripts, degree certificate, English score, passport, personal statement.
  4. Submit the file: Brunel charges no application fee, while UCAS charges £28.95 (around ₹3,710) for 2026 entry.
  5. Wait for the decision: four to eight weeks typically, longer during peak months.
  6. Respond to the offer within 28 days and pay the £5,000 (around ₹6.40 Lakhs) tuition deposit.
  7. Apply for the UK Student Route visa using the CAS number issued by Brunel.

Brunel University Admission Decisions and Deferral

Standard offers land as conditional (subject to final transcripts or English score) or unconditional. A conditional offer needs supporting documents by the stated meet-condition date. Brunel accepts a one-year deferral in most cases if requested in writing before the start of teaching. The Business School may itself defer applications to the next intake when its cohort fills before deadline.

Brunel University London Documents Required

Brunel wants a single upload set at application, with originals or certified copies checked at enrolment. Nothing needs to be posted physically. The core file for an Indian applicant, per the international requirements page, sits below.

  • Passport bio page and any previous UK visa scans showing details and expiry.
  • Academic transcripts: Class X, Class XII, and all Bachelor’s semester mark-sheets.
  • Degree certificate: provisional accepted where the final is pending.
  • English test report: IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, or BrunELT matching Eligibility bands.
  • Personal statement: around 500 words on programme fit and career goals.
  • Curriculum vitae: required for postgraduate, MBA, and PhD applications.
  • Letters of recommendation: one academic and one professional (two academic for PhD).
  • Programme-specific extras: MBA work-experience letter, or PhD research proposal.

All uploads should be legible PDFs or JPEGs. Documents in Hindi or other regional languages need certified English translations before submission.

Brunel University London Acceptance Rate

Brunel does not publish an official institutional acceptance rate. Cross-referenced third-party data puts the overall rate at 65 to 70%, and the international-specific figure at about 69%, based on UCAS-style acceptance patterns for research-active English universities with similar intake volumes.

How Selective Is Brunel University Really?

An accessible rate does not mean automatic entry. Brunel applies programme-specific selectors: subject match, English level, personal statement quality, and (for MBA) an interview, all filtering within the overall funnel. Undergraduate offers often issue within two to three weeks, and postgraduate offers within four to eight weeks. Late applications after a programme fills convert less well.

Brunel University’s Most Competitive Programmes

The Brunel MBA, MSc Physiotherapy, MSc Occupational Therapy, and MBBS Medicine at Brunel Medical School are the most selective courses. Each layers a subject prerequisite, higher English score (IELTS 7.0 for health courses), or a professional-experience gate on top of the academic floor. MSc Artificial Intelligence and MSc Data Science and Analytics see high volumes from Indian applicants but continue to admit most who meet the stated 2:2-equivalent requirement.

Insider note: Indian applicants sometimes assume a mid-band UK ranking equals a low bar. Brunel’s international outlook and industry-linked teaching draw strong volumes to the business, computing, and health schools, so apply early to avoid a rolled decision.

UK Student Visa Guide for Brunel University Applicants

Indian students bound for Brunel apply for the UK Student Route visa (formerly Tier 4). The visa application opens once Brunel issues a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS), which itself needs the £5,000 tuition deposit paid first. Standard processing from India runs about three weeks, and priority services can pull that to five working days for an additional fee.

Core costs and requirements from GOV.UK for 2026:

  • Visa fee: £558 (around ₹71,376).
  • Immigration Health Surcharge: £776 per year of study (around ₹99,290 yearly).
  • Maintenance funds: £1,529 per month for London (around ₹1.96 Lakhs) held for 28 consecutive days.
  • Documents: passport, CAS letter, English evidence, transcripts, financial proof, TB test certificate.

Uxbridge sits within Greater London, so the higher London maintenance rate applies. After arrival, register with Brunel’s international team in the first week and confirm your Biometric Residence Permit collection point.

2026 update: The UK Student Route visa fee rose to £558 on 8 April 2026, up from £524. Budget the new figure and lock in the IHS payment at CAS-issue time to avoid any subsequent hikes.

Brunel University London admissions reward a September applicant who meets the 2:2-equivalent Bachelor’s floor, plans the £5,000 deposit early, and confirms any English waiver in writing. Rolling review across UCAS and eVision keeps decision windows short. Miss July 2026 and January 2027 sits ready as the next live gate.

Ans. Direct postgraduate applications for the September 2026 primary intake close on 17 July 2026 via eVision. Undergraduate applicants have until 21 August 2026 via UCAS. The next window after that is January 2027 postgraduate, with a 13 November 2026 deadline.

Ques. Does Brunel University London charge an application fee?

Ans. No. Brunel does not charge an application fee for its own submissions via eVision. Undergraduate applicants pay a UCAS fee of £28.95 (around ₹3,710) that covers up to five course choices, and that fee goes to UCAS rather than Brunel.

Ques. What Class XII percentage do I need for undergraduate admission at Brunel?

Ans. For most subject areas, aim for around 75 to 80% at Class XII from CBSE or ISC, matching the A-level ABB standard offer. Engineering programmes accept around 70% with Maths and Physics as core subjects.

Ques. What Bachelor’s percentage covers a Brunel Master’s course?

Ans. A Bachelor’s at 55 to 60% covers the UK 2:2 honours equivalent that most taught Master’s programmes require. MBA applicants need 60%+ (2:1 equivalent) plus three years of full-time work experience.

Ques. Do Indian students always need IELTS for Brunel University London?

Ans. Most Indian applicants take IELTS, PTE, or TOEFL. Applicants with strong Class XII English marks (typically 70%+) from CBSE, ICSE, or the main state boards may be assessed under a qualification-based waiver. Confirm in writing with Brunel’s international team first.

Ans. Standard offer-holders pay a non-refundable £5,000 (around ₹6.40 Lakhs) tuition deposit within 28 days of accepting the offer. MBBS Medicine applicants pay £10,000 (around ₹12.80 Lakhs) before the unconditional offer converts.

Ques. Does the Brunel MBA require GMAT or GRE?

Ans. No. The Brunel MBA does not require GMAT or GRE. It does require a Microsoft Teams interview after the initial file review, focused on career goals, leadership stories, and programme fit.

Ques. What is the Brunel University London acceptance rate?

Ans. Brunel does not publish an official institutional acceptance rate. Third-party estimates put the overall figure at 65 to 70% and the international-specific rate at about 69%, making it accessible relative to the top-40 UK ranking band.

Ques. Can I defer my Brunel offer by a year?

Ans. Yes, Brunel accepts a one-year deferral in most cases if requested in writing before the teaching start date. Business School courses may themselves be deferred by Brunel when the cohort is full at the time of offer conversion.

Ques. Which September 2026 intake courses are still live for Indian applicants?

Ans. As of early July 2026, most postgraduate taught courses, MBA, MRes, and PhD remain open until 17 July. Business School and Health courses close first when capacity is reached. Undergraduate applications via UCAS stay open until 21 August 2026.

Ques. How long does Brunel take to send an offer?

Ans. The international admissions team aims to decide within four to eight weeks of a complete file arriving. Peak months like May to July run at the upper end. Missing documents restart the clock, so upload transcripts, English score, and passport in the first pass.

Ques. What visa do Indian students at Brunel apply for?

Ans. The UK Student Route visa (formerly Tier 4). It costs £558 (around ₹71,376) plus IHS at £776 (around ₹99,290) per year of study. Maintenance funds of £1,529 per month for London must sit in the bank account for 28 consecutive days.

Scholarship

  • There are a variety of scholarships available for different courses, as well as ones that are open to all. I received the maximum scholarship award of 6000 GBP after the admission board reviewed my academic, professional, as well as extracurricular data.
  • There were a few more students in my class who received the same or fewer amount worthy scholarships, depending on each individual's records. I am not sure about the specific criteria, because that might be subject to changes before the start of every new academic year.

  • Yes i recieved Scholarship for my course, Which was 5000 pounds it comes under the International Student Scholarship and Special credit from Professors based on Talent. I think two more students recieved scholrship from respective countries support and to acquire University scholarship you need to apply before hand.
  • I am not aware of the number of students who get scholarships each year, but according to my knowledge there is only one scholarship scheme for international students and country-wise there is one more scholarship scheme on top of that to help them. But again, it's extremely competitive.

  • I did not receive any scholarships but there were various opportunities available. A few of my colleagues did receive scholarships when they enrolled.
  • The university also offered financial aid during the lockdown period to assist their students which was a great initiative from their side.
  • This was named the university student hardship fund. This aid depended on the students condition and issues that he or she was facing.

Overview

The university experience has been good overall, but what they lack is clarity and uniformity. There is difference in opinion among teachers which is disadvantage for students. The supervisor are not readily available when you need them. Most of the staff works online. The campus life was good. Library service was excellent. Staying in On campus accommodation was a great experience. Overall satisfactory.
