Course Curriculum

10

  • Extremely Tough because my course had all written exams and assignments of 2000 words each. I had 6 subjects and had to dedicate myself to each subject because of its difficulty level. You will hardly get time to focus on a part-time job. Extremely detailed courses, which help in continuing the PhD work if interested. Typically 2 to 3 classes, each of 2 hours.
  • Classes used to start from 9 am to 4 pm. My class had 25 students on average from different countries and different continents. Number of indian students was 3 in my class, including me. We had many people from Spain, Italy and Arab countries.

Admission Experience

  • I got admitted into Brunel, Kingston, Loughborough, Swansea and UCL and got rejected by Imperial, Edinburgh and Manchester University. Rejections were mainly because of not aligning with their grade average pointers i was lacking by 3 percent overall. Many universities have First come first serve basis and i was late to apply for the above-given universities. I also applied for Italian and German universities too. Got rejection because of Language proficiency certificate.
  • My requirement was mainly research and i want the course with strong research foundations thats why i choose Brunel and Brunel was known for its strong alliance with the UK government in Renewable Energy field. Admission process is pretty neat 1) Online application, 2) LOR & SOP submission 3) Interview with Course Director 4) Interview for Financial AID clarity 5) Offer Letter. Eligibility criteria First Class Bachelor's Degree, IELTS 6.5 Average, Any Research Publications & Ability to show Financial AID. We have to fill out the ATS for my specific course, which assesses the mental stability of the applicant in which i needed help from the counsellor to ace it.
  • 2021 Intake right after the Covid Ban lifted. Due to covid, I had a significant gap in my career, for which i wanted to improve my chances of getting better opportunities through masters degree and i always wanted to go to London and live there, which is why I chose the UK as my study abroad destination. It took one month to complete the admission process. The financial AID certificate from Loan took an extra month to finally get the CAS Letter for applying for VISA.

Faculty

10

  • We had 6 professors and each professor specialized in each subject. All Professors have a minimum of 2 master's degrees and one PhD. In the classroom, using a digital projector, each subject's presentations were used as a teaching methodology. Yes, the course content allowed me to decide which type of career path one can choose because the assignments helped us review real-world case studies and provide solutions for them.
  • No, everyone was involved in coursework and dissertation so much part-time job assistance was taken care of by the University support groups. Mrs. Debarati Thermodyanmics is a sweet Lady and extremely helpful in all types of problems. I am still in touch with that professor for help.

Campus Life

10

  • Diversity of different students created many events and cultural exchange events were happening constantly around the campus. The campus was dedicated to keeping people engaged in different activities and events based on ethnic groups.
  • All events were organized by bachelor students of the same campus. It was fun in general to wander around the campus and find out about the many activities to do around the campus.

Part Time Jobs

  • 3 Research assistant positions are available each year. 15 pounds per house above the national average pay per hour. Support Worker and event support team-like jobs are available on campus but it's extremely competitive to get those jobs. 20 hours per week are available for students and in universities you will be allowed to work only 16 hours maximum. It's extremely difficult to secure jobs but if you can go and get admission soon and move in before the joining date, you can secure the positions.
  • 15 pounds and outside campus and 13 pounds outside campus. Extremely difficult with too many competitions. You can apply for part-time jobs on campus using the university website. Interviews are held on a daily basis and the Resume should be formatted based on the UK format; otherwise, you won't get past the Resume review stage itself. Many jobs are walk-ins; you won't find them in online platforms, so make sure you look out for the display boards for job openings.

Placement

6

  • I returned to my home country, as I was looking to start my own company. Now I have returned to my country and didn't get a Post Study Work Visa. out of 25 students, 22 students graduated with a first-class degree and only 3 students opted out in mid-semester. There is no placement option because of the research nature of the course and some of them got jobs from my batch directly through online application because of the University reputation. Please do not come without prior experience because it will be extremely difficult to get a job in the UK market.

Accommodation

Off Campus
6

  • I found accommodation using Spareroom app and was staying with 3 more people from different countries in a shared house. Monthly rent for the box room was 500 pounds with a common bathroom and kitchen area. It was easy for me to secure accommodation.
  • My accommodation from the university was one bus, hardly 3 km. Indian students stay in college accommodation, which was expensive for my budget. And i wanted to live outside for better exposure.

Exams

  • Only IELTS for my course is required. The documents required for admissions process are LOR,SOP and Marksheets and Degree Certificates and CV. Yes, as i have mentioned in prior answers, I had two separate interviews, as my course involved research with energy so one was with the director of the course and the other one with the Financial AID team.
  • Interview with them influenced my decision to go for Brunel University because of the scholarship and financial aid support assurance during the interview.

Fees

  • I was liviing outside so my college fees were 19,500 Pounds and i got a scholarship of 5000 pounds. Fees were charged yearly and if you have unforeseen circumstances, they are flexible.
  • Monthly expenses were 850 to 900 Pounds.
  • Rent is 500 pounds,Transport 100 pounds and food 150 pounds and 200 pounds is for miscellaneous things like Internet, Phone bill and supplies. Major expense is Monthly Rent i was living in a shared house and my room was a box room.

Scholarship

  • Yes i recieved Scholarship for my course, Which was 5000 pounds it comes under the International Student Scholarship and Special credit from Professors based on Talent. I think two more students recieved scholrship from respective countries support and to acquire University scholarship you need to apply before hand.
  • I am not aware of the number of students who get scholarships each year, but according to my knowledge there is only one scholarship scheme for international students and country-wise there is one more scholarship scheme on top of that to help them. But again, it's extremely competitive.
