  • The curriculum is well structured to teach the students from basics to advance concepts.
  • Majority of the subjects in my course had assignment related grading schemes.
  • There were weekly quizs to keep the sessions interactive.

Fees

  • Now the fee has increased to around 30K pounds since the University has climbed up in the top universities ranking.

  • The course curriculum was practical as well as theoretical.
  • The most positive aspect was they gave me many assignments to complete, which improved my practical knowledge.

Fees

  • The full breakdown of the fees was 1,000 GBP for Deposit, and 28,750 for my tuition fees , where I was awarded a 2,500 GBP scholarship.
  • The fees are charged in two terms (termly).
  • An estimate of my monthly expenses would be 600 GBP. 100 GBP for groceries and laundry expenses. 100 GBP for transport and other expenses. 400 GBP for my accommodation rent.

  • I searched for accommodation through an online platform called amber students. There you can compare the prices, locations, and sizes of the houses and decide which one fits your needs. You can also chat with them and tell them your preference and they can sort some places for you.
  • Sheffield being a hilly area, there are so many ups and downs, so I preferred to get a place near my uni building, which made commuting easier.

  • It's actually a mix of both. It's not extremely difficult but not extremely easy. It's a mind and depends on each person of their knowledge and fundamentals about certain concepts and theories.
  • The positive aspect is that it helps me make significant decisions well and with ease applying in real life and the negative aspect is finding jobs is difficult in this field. Usually it's less than 20 hours a week. There are around 300- 400 students in my class and there are very few Indian students.

Fees

  • The tuition fees is 21000 Pounds yearly spanned over 3 years it would be 63000 pounds. The accommodation in first year was around 9000 pounds but in the second year I managed to find a cheaper place so it costs me around 4000 pounds. The monthly expenses are usually around 100-200 pounds.
  • The tuition fees can be paid yearly or semester wise.In first year my total expense was around 35000 pounds and second year it's around 27000 pounds.

  • Master in Public Health is a moderately difficult course. It is mostly theoretical in nature. A dissertation is the only practical experience you’ll gain if your dissertation is primary research.
  • The positive part of this course would be getting to learn more about public health and meeting individuals from different public health areas and networking with them. The course gives a fresh view of health.
  • The negative aspect of it would be no practical knowledge. Usually, the classes are four days a week, from 9 to 5 with two hours of breaks in between.
  • The university and the faculty will help students find part-time or full-time jobs through Career Connect, but not on a personal basis. I admired my course, modulator Dr. Hannah, a lot. She is a sweetheart. She is very helpful and understanding.

Fees

  • £25,300 was my fee for an entire year. I paid it in two installments. The second installment should be made by the end of February. But if necessary, the university will give an extension of a few more months and will also help the student with multiple options on what can be done if you are unable to pay.
  • Apart from this, monthly expenses will be a minimum of £700, where rent takes up 70% of the expense of around £500. Groceries, travel, and other activities can go up to £200 as a minimum, but it depends on the person's spending.

  • Difficulty of Curriculum - 8/10, Theoretical concepts were covered for the first few classes before plunging us headfirst into practical demonstrations and hands on projects. I can only remember classes fondly as they were very detailed and thorough with great interaction between professors and students.
  • Most of the teaching was done in a practical manner. Most courses required us to build things from end to end to see how systems would work in a production environment. The projects involved in the courses were from real data from NHS, Inhouse testing systems and so on. This helped us get hands on experience with real world data that needed proper optimization.

Fees

  • Total Tuition - 26,500 Pounds
  • 13,500p is charged for the first semester and 13000 for the second.
  • I found my own stay and did not opt for university provided accommodation. I paid 115 pounds per week. I used to walk to university so there were no transportation costs. Monthly costs for groceries, stationary and other miscellaneous expenses came around 200 pounds per month.

  • The MSc Data Science course at the University of Sheffield is considered to be moderately demanding since, besides theoretical knowledge, practical skills are also gained. While the basics might be easy for students who have experience, advanced modules and project work ensure depth and application-based learning.
  • Pros: Diverse curriculum with both academic and industry orientation. Practical projects and hands-on lab work enhance real-world skills. Supportive faculty, advanced computing labs, and resources are definite positives.
  • Cons: Initial modules in the course may seem a bit too basic for someone with loads of prior experience. The workload is immense during assessment periods.
  • Class Schedule: There are approximately 1-2 classes a day, often between 9 AM and 5 PM, allowing for breaks in between. The timings depend on modules and workshops.
  • Ideally, the pedagogy here combines lectures, practical labs, and project-based learning to make students pick up theoretical knowledge along with hands-on experience. That is quite a very effective way of preparing us for the job market, having strong emphases on real-world applications and industrial tools, along with programming skills.
  • Course content coupled with faculty guidance thus prepares one comprehensively for job placement in data science.

Fees

  • The fees structure is simple it's 29,700 Pounds for international students.
  • An estimation of monthly expense is quite subjective but I'd say around 200-300 Pounds without rent is a good range.
  • The rent is also dependent on where you live so if it's near city center then it's gonna be a bit higher if farther then a bit on the lower side.
  • The credit required for passing the masters in data science is 180.

  • My course curriculum was a mix of both, although the theoretical Part took more priority. The most positive aspect of my course was the multicultural environment and creative assignments and the negative aspect of my course can be that it can be little overwhelming among so many new people from different backgrounds.I had around 2 lectures and 2-3 seminars each day starting at 9AM in the morning and usually lasting till 4pm. As I have personally not experienced anything similar to this, I cannot answer it.

  • On an average, we had around 100-150 students during common lectures and 10-15, students during seminars.

  • Around 5-8 including me as the nature of the course was quite multicultural. We had students from many countries with Chinese being the majority.

  • We had 1-2 lecturers per module and 8-10 seminar leaders during each semester. The higher number of seminar leaders ensured that each student gets to work in a smaller group to focus more on their individual and group projects while ensuring interaction and teamwork.

  • Given the theoretical nature of my course, I would say that teaching methodology was quite good, although the course lacked some practical teaching, which could be more useful in the long run and to secure job. But this was compensated with the University services and career team. Each semester, we had a dedicated lecture to develop career skills and enhance our CV further.

Fees

  • Full fees- £28700. It can be paid completely or in two halves. The first portion was charged before starting the course, and the second portion can be paid in January.

  • The deposit fee of 1000 was deducted from the first half. And for the monthly expenses, I spent around £104/week on rent and around £400 on groceries and other expenses. My travelling cost was zero as I travelled to most places by walkiNG.

  • The course curriculum was moderately difficult, with equal focus on both theoretical and practical.
  • The assessments are carefully designed by professors, and good guidance is provided.
  • The positive aspect of the course was the in-depth coverage of topics. However, due to the limitation of time, the diversity of the subject could not be covered. In my batch of 25 students, there were 7 Indian students.

Fees

  • My tuition fee was 26000£ for a year. Sheffield being one of the cheapest and most affordable cities for students, my monthly expenditure was roughly around 600-700£.
  • Students can avail of student discounts literally everywhere in the city upon presenting their university ID card.
  • My rent is 500£ per month. For transportation I use tram service and you can apply for monthly pass which costs 53£ per month.

My course was very up to date, we had in-class materials, extra reading materials, and library resources all dated after 2015 and many even after the Covid. All teaching materials included recent articles and research papers to keep up with the trends. Industrial exposure- my professors took the class out to Pearn Kandola, an occupational psychology company and we had chats with all the professionals to gain understanding of the regular tasks in the job. We also had to present our ideas to the company as a short pitch. We also participated in group discussions, one on one chats and built our network first-hand. For our research experience, we have a compulsory dissertation worth 39% of our entire degree.
