Course Curriculum

10

  • It's actually a mix of both. It's not extremely difficult but not extremely easy. It's a mind and depends on each person of their knowledge and fundamentals about certain concepts and theories.
  • The positive aspect is that it helps me make significant decisions well and with ease applying in real life and the negative aspect is finding jobs is difficult in this field. Usually it's less than 20 hours a week. There are around 300- 400 students in my class and there are very few Indian students.

Admission Experience

  • Admitted into these Universities -  University of Toronto, University of Bath, University of Warwick, Miami University Ohio, Concordia University, University of Sheffield, Christ University Bangalore
  • The above Universities I received confirmed admission from.
Rejected - Boston University - I was financially weak and they needed much stronger personality
  • It had strong mental support which was very much needed then and it matched all my preferences then - financially and safely.
  • I had to apply through UCAS by submitting my personal statement and IB scores.
  • Since I had an internationally accepted degree I didn't give any other exams except for IELTS which wasn't needed apart from that they needed 34 minimum to accept me.
  • It was pretty easy despite applying through clearing, everything went really smoothly.
  • I applied in the September 2023 Autumn intake. My financial status, mental health support, affordability, living cost and academics helped me make the decision. It took me around a month (July - August) from application to acceptance and then another month (August - September) for my visa interview and biometrics check, medical and TB check ups for certificates.

Faculty

10

  • There's 50- 60 faculty members in the Economics Department and 300-400 students in each batch, so 1:5. The quality of education is very nice and everyone's really attentive and instant towards taking actions or helping out.
  • The teaching method is pretty impressive where we have lectures, tutorials and personal help from lecturers and tutors through consultation and feedback hours.
  • Yes, there is a separate faculty in the Economics Department to help you find jobs and they even make sure that the employers are treating you well throughout. I really am inspired from my Professor Jolian and Professor Sarah. They've always helped me and I can approach them easily.

Campus Life

10

  • It has one campus spread across the city of Sheffield. The campus has many facilities such as 3-4 libraries, lots of different sports from football ground, water sports, cricket, tennis and many more, there are plenty of medical facilities and the main one for university students is the university health service UHS.
  • There's ROAR and every Wednesday event , career fair, freshers fair, society activities. There's lot of societies based on culture, country, sports, religious belief etc that have different events one can join

Part Time Jobs

  • I’m not entirely sure as I haven’t explored it deeply, but I know there are on-campus jobs available paying 10 pounds to 12 pounds per hour plus holiday earnings but its a zero hour contract and depends on the shifts provided. International students can work up to 20 hours maximum, and exceeding this limit isn’t allowed. Finding jobs can be very challenging, though.
  • The hourly earning is usually between 10 pounds to 12 pounds per hour plus holiday pay earnings. It is very difficult to find part time jobs that would pay you well and employers treating you well and usually distract you from studies leading to lower scores. Usually you find jobs through websites like Indeed and uni, which is career connect. Then you  need to provide your CV and  they interview in groups and personally..

Placement

10

  • I'm not too sure about the right percentage but it is usually above 80 percent of students and the university helps them in applying for jobs. The average salary depends on where they work but usually more than 15000 pounds.
  • They find it through careers fairs at university or companies events and online websites like Indeed, bright network. The major companies are Lloyds, HSBC, PWC, EY.

Accommodation

Off Campus
10

  • I have opted for Off Campus Accommodation. There are student accommodations available through websites online like Amber, UniHomes, etc. that help you find accommodation in the city.
  • My monthly rent is around 500 pounds. I have my personal bedroom and washroom but shared kitchen and common space like theatre, pool table, study rooms, karaoke rooms etc. It was pretty easy to find accommodations in this city. It's very close to my University and right in the city centre.

Exams

  • It depends on your type of education and degree. I didn't require any exams but I gave IELTS to know the exam pattern.
  • I required my birth certificate , my predicted grades, my grade 9th-12th scores, my passport and my parents sponsorship letter and passport, bank statement, loan letter, personal statement.
  • No, I didn't have any interviews for my application.

Fees

  • The tuition fees is 21000 Pounds yearly spanned over 3 years it would be 63000 pounds. The accommodation in first year was around 9000 pounds but in the second year I managed to find a cheaper place so it costs me around 4000 pounds. The monthly expenses are usually around 100-200 pounds.
  • The tuition fees can be paid yearly or semester wise.In first year my total expense was around 35000 pounds and second year it's around 27000 pounds.

Scholarship

  • No, since it's hard to receive scholarships since they prefer giving it to the home students.
  • Other students from different countries received scholarships from their respective government and mostly home students were awarded scholarships or bursaries or students studying in Sheffield international College were awarded scholarships based on their performance.
