Dislikes:

  • However, there is no scope provided for finding jobs as there is no campus placement, which is disappointing. null

I chose this university as it has the course I wanted, and it one of the recognised university and is cheaper to live in Manchester than any of the London universities or Edinburgh. It is also a very inclusive city, so it was a win-win in my books.

I chose the University of Manchester because of its prestige and because the Computer Security program was perfect for me in line with my career goals. The Department of Computer Science is an excellent one in addition to being the oldest in the world.

I accepted the offer because the university is one of the top universities in the world in terms of ranking. Manchester as a city is also a whole different world. One can learn many things in the city and would never get bored as well.

I chose UoM because of its standing and ranking globally. Apart from that, I also considered the course structure and options given to make the course fit my personal goals better.

The first and foremost thing is the university's reputation and research opportunities. Then comes the experience and expertise of the faculties, the international standard of facilities and the friendly and welcoming gestures of the university staff.

faculty: 10/10
infrastructure: 10/10
accomodation: 10/10

Dislikes:

  • Classmates aren't super sociable and mostly keep to themselves. Profs, while approachable, can sometimes not reply to emails for weeks/months. Strong emphasis on self-study and not as much guided study. null

I chose this university as it is amongst top 30 in QS World Rankings. I received a partial scholarship from this University that helped pay off some of the costs. I chose MSc EPSE because it was a natural continuation of my previous job. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. I would genuinely recommend those who want to pursue this course as it's very technical and well-taught. A diverse group of students allows, in certain group activities, a very comprehensive set of ideas to work with.

Dislikes:

  • My curriculum in particular could have been better. null
  • Less networking events and placement talks. null

I chose this university because of following factors: - The campus was in a city which was a major factor when compared to Warwick which is a college town. Cities are easier to live in and more comfortable. - As compared to Imperial which has a good reputation, this was a cheaper and more comfortable place than the hustle and bustle of London. - You get to experience and interact with other courses which is kind of an advantage as you need that change sometimes. - The college holds a good ranking and the fee is less compared to other universities. The best part is all International students are guaranteed student accommodation by the university which is a relief.

Dislikes:

  • For courses in social sciences in particular, there is low placement opportunity. Students must find career opportunities themselves, although many companies keep coming in general to the university on open days. null

I chose this particular program for the excellent faculty and their research. I chose the university because it gave a unified university feeling, and not independent colleges/buildings (like we mostly see in London). Overall experience - 10/10. Good faculty, good staff, a very nice city, very nice university building.

academic: 10/10
faculty: 10/10
infrastructure: 10/10
accomodation: 10/10
placement: 8/10
extracurricular: 10/10

Dislikes:

  • Can be expensive to live (depending on location) .
  • Can be daunting for those who have never lived alone .
  • More focused on self-study as compared to the Indian schooling system; great lecturers nevertheless. null
  • No companies come to campus so if you need hand-holding to find a job, going abroad might not be for you if your sole reason for going is finding a job .

It is one of the top Russell Group universities so choosing Manchester over other cities was a no-brainer. My overall experience has been incredibly fulfilling and would recommend the university.
