I chose the University of Manchester because of its prestige and because the Computer Security program was perfect for me in line with my career goals. The Department of Computer Science is an excellent one in addition to being the oldest in the world.
Course Curriculum
The Course curriculum is state of the art and the faculty is actively engaged in the development of future technologies. There is a certain level of industrial exposure from guest lecturers across the industry and the dissertation lends itself to a good research experience.
Exams
- My Scores: IELTS: 8.5 CBSE- 94.8% (12th), CBSE- 82% (10th) GGSIPU- B.Tech Computer Science 86.4% (UG) - Requirements: I had to submit an SOP, 2 LoRs and my CV. The University places great emphasis on Undergrad Scores and your SOP. A good undergrad score is important to gain admission. The SOP must mention your research interests as well.
Placement
There is no Placement opportunity. However, there are a lot of research opportunities for those willing to take them up. The master's Dissertation also has the potential to turn into a PhD.
Fees
£33000
Faculty
The Faculty Student Ratio is very good and the faculty itself is very well accomplished and imparts excellent teaching. The faculty is also quite approachable in general. Dr Daniel Dresner is an incredible professor who teaches CyberSecurity and Systems Governance. His modules are highly recommended for anyone with an interest in CyberSecurity.
Campus Life
The campus life at UoM is excellent and highly dependent on what you make of it. The Fallowfield Campus is a great place to stay and make friends. There are numerous clubs and societies that one can join and there is also the provision for sports centers and gyms. There is literally nothing that is missing in terms of provisions.
Hostel
Accommodation rooms are not shared, however, there is a choice on whether you would like to share a washroom. For shared washrooms, the rent is around £130 per week. For ensuite, it goes up to £200 per week.
