I chose this university as it is amongst top 30 in QS World Rankings. I received a partial scholarship from this University that helped pay off some of the costs. I chose MSc EPSE because it was a natural continuation of my previous job. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. I would genuinely recommend those who want to pursue this course as it's very technical and well-taught. A diverse group of students allows, in certain group activities, a very comprehensive set of ideas to work with.

Course Curriculum

8

The Course syllabus is relevant to modern-day requirements. We had a course on Techniques for Research and Industry where we had to collaborate, as part of a pre-determined group, to create a proposal and design of a new technological product.

Exams

- My Scores: IELTS 8. Minimum score: IELTS 6.5 In addition to standardized tests, they go through applications with a requirement of at least one academic reference. - 8.69 GPA at National Institute of Technology, Rourkela - ICSE: 96% (10th); CBSE: 91% (12th) - Requirements: Yes. SoP, LoR, and CV are needed as part of the application process. The CV should not include pictures and should be extremely professional with details on the projects you have worked on. The SoP should be relevant to the course you are studying and should focus on your motivations. The LoR should be academic and ideally from your project supervisor in your undergraduate studies. - Interview Round: No, there were no extra rounds of interviews.

Placement

The students have to apply for these jobs themselves. The profiles tend to be graduate roles in engineering with a median salary of around 32000 GBP per year. It's difficult to know the number of students placed because everyone has different priorities, and some wait until the study is complete to apply for jobs.

Internship

I have a part-time job at Blake Clough Consulting, with a full-time offer pending my performance in the 6-9 months of probation period. The stipend for 20 hours of work per week is about 1800 GBP per month, with an in-hand of 1500 GBP after tax and insurance deductions.

Fees

The total for me was 33500 GBP. I have heard that this year, it has been hiked to 35000 GBP.

Scholarship

I received the Global Futures Scholarship from the University of Manchester, which awards a grant of 8000 GBP. The University will send emails to all eligible offer holders to apply with a deadline of May. There's a Google Form to fill up, which among other things, asks you to write about your motivations and why you're fit to get the scholarship.

Faculty

7

Not quite sure about the faculty-to-student ratio but the faculty and staff are extremely helpful and approachable, though they sometimes don't reply to emails. Dr. Kopsidas, who is my project supervisor, and Dr. Potts who was our instructor for a couple of subjects were extremely good with the teaching method.

Campus Life

Very vibrant campus life. There's always something happening. Lots of extracurricular activities, with a Learning Commons and the Main Library right at the heart of the University. Lots of societies as well, from sports societies to quiz societies to dance societies.

Hostel

6

Student Accommodation, En suite room, sharing the kitchen and the dining hall with 3 other students, paying 182 GBP per week. It's about average for this place. There are some cheaper ones, priced around 130-140GBP per week in which you have to share bathrooms with others.
