Colleges Where I Was Accepted
Reason for choosing my college
- I was concerned about the courses that were being provided by these universities. A university that provided dual specialization in accounting and finance was my first choice.
- Second, I felt it was critical to compare each school's overall and individual course rankings as well as the university and business school rankings; this is especially true in the United Kingdom, where Russell Group Institutions are more prestigious. This helped me finalize my choice of the University of Manchester.
Colleges Where I Was Rejected
Reason for Rejection
- I was not able to complete the application process as it was lengthy in comparison to other universities, and also, I already had acceptance letters from certain universities, which made me not push for other universities too much.

Tips to enhance your application
- Keep everything short and tidy, while making sure that you stick to the word limit. Its important that you do not use AI for either writing or editing your documents. Rather, write what really inspired you to pick the university/course.
- Your CV should show that, apart from your expertise in your relevant field, you also have some work or charity experience, which sets you above the other applicants.
Admission Experience
- During my schooling years, I had the opportunity to become part of the "Ace Programme" at Rugby School, London, consisting of modules in politics and business. This was my first eye-opening experience where I saw the diversity of the United Kingdom and earned great knowledge and honed my skills. This experience solidified my plans to study in this country.
- Additionally, consistently ranking among the top universities in the world and being recognized as one of the best business schools in the UK, the University of Manchester was the ideal place for me.
Class Schedule
- I usually have 1 or 2 classes a day and 4 classes a week. Generally, the classes are in the morning, starting at 10 am, for about 2 or 3 hours maximum.
- I have approximately 10-15 Indian students in my class but the total strength of the class is more than 100 students. It is necessary for us to self-study for at least 1-2 hours a day normally.
Faculty
- Faculty members are always welcoming and help students a lot. There may be some difference in their teaching patterns and it may take some time for students to get used to it.
- Faculty prefers to keep contact for course work only and not that much for references. Though they are always supportive in terms of coursework help.
Campus Life
- We have a huge campus with one main library that is open 24x7. For students who want to, they can book library and other university buildings study rooms for private study areas, and the same can be done for using software such as Bloomberg. With a separate Student Union body, there are all sorts of muti-cultural events going on campus.
Part Time Jobs
- Indian students prefer to work in big franchises to earn while being able to balance with their studies.
- Usually, they earn 12-20 pounds an hour, but it is comparatively difficult to get these jobs since there is a lot of competition due to all students wanting to have this work and study balance in the university.
- There are multiple part-time jobs available for students, from baristas to accountants. Students are also volunteers for charity work.
- Maximum hours allowed as per the VISA stipulation are 20 hours a week for international students. Students usually earn between 12 and 20 pounds an hour depending upon the type of work.
Placement
- In my university, we have a separate website set up for us to look out for jobs that come our way through the university. The students usually have an average salary of 25-30K and they tend to find these jobs online itself. But they should also be ready for rejections, as they may face this more often in the job market here.
Accommodation
- I searched for the accommodations months in advance and I emphasise the need for students to book their accommodations as early as possible. Because as time runs short, the prices skyrocket. Also, the location of accommodation matters a lot—how close it is to the university, the closest market and bus stations, etc.
