Queen Mary maps Indian qualifications directly to its UK entry framework. UG entry works off Class XII scores; PG entry works off a Bachelor’s degree marked in Indian percentages (or a US-style GPA equivalent).

• UG general entry: Class XII (CBSE, ISC, or a recognised State Board) at 75 to 90%.
• PG taught entry: a Bachelor’s at 60 to 80%. 
• English floor: IELTS 6.5 overall with 6.0 in each component covers most PG taught and mid-tier UG courses. Law LLB, LLM, Arts, and clinical Dentistry sit one band higher.

Queen Mary uses English Bands 3, 4, and 5. Band 3 is the lightest requirement (UG Engineering, Mathematical Sciences, Physical and Chemical Sciences, Biological and Behavioural Sciences). Band 4 covers most PG taught and UG Business, Economics, and Society and Environment. Band 5 sits at the top for UG Arts, Blizard Institute, Dentistry, LLMs, and PGR Business and Management.

Queen Mary University of London Application Process

UG applicants go through UCAS; PG taught and research applicants apply directly via the Queen Mary online course finder and then track their case in the MySIS applicant portal. Both platforms accept applications well ahead of the deadlines listed above.

1. UG applicants: register on UCAS. You can add up to five course choices for the GBP 34.50 application fee (around INR 4,415). Complete your personal statement, reference, and academic history, then submit to UCAS from 1 September 2026 onwards.
2. PG applicants: search the postgraduate course finder on qmul.ac.uk, click Apply Now on your chosen MSc, MA, or LLM, and create a MySIS account. There is no application fee for direct PG applications.
3. Upload supporting documents: transcripts, degree certificate (if awarded), one-page statement of purpose, CV, one or two referee contacts, and English test score. 
4. Track the decision in MySIS: initial decision timelines run four to six weeks for most PG taught programmes. Admissions communicates via the portal, not by email.
5. Accept the offer: conditional offers list the exact percentage or IELTS score you still need to hit. Once conditions are met, Queen Mary issues an unconditional offer and moves you to CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) issuance for the visa step.

Admission decisions: Standard PG taught decisions arrive four to six weeks after a complete submission. Competitive programmes (MSc Data Science, MSc Business Analytics, MSc Finance) can run six to eight weeks in peak season. UCAS UG decisions arrive on rolling basis, with the vast majority of Indian applicants hearing back by mid-March 2027 for the January-submitted batch. Deferral is possible up to one year at the department’s discretion.

Queen Mary requires the same documentation package for UG (via UCAS) and PG (direct via MySIS), with a couple of level-specific additions. Every document should be a certified copy or an original scan; the university does not require attestation from the Indian embassy at the application stage.

• Valid passport bio page (with at least 18 months of validity remaining).
• Class X and Class XII marksheets and certificates (for UG applicants) or Bachelor’s marksheets and provisional/final degree certificate (for PG applicants).
• Statement of Purpose: roughly one page, tailored to the specific programme, covering academic motivation and career fit.
• Curriculum Vitae or Resume: two pages, listing academic history, internships, projects, and any publications.
• Two academic referee contacts for PG; UCAS UG applications need one reference through the UCAS platform.
• English language test score report (IELTS, TOEFL iBT, or PTE Academic), or an MOI certificate if using the waiver.
• Work experience letters (for MSc Investment Banking, MSc Marketing, and other career-oriented programmes where relevant).

Queen Mary does not publish an official institutional acceptance rate. Based on Russell Group taught-programme patterns and the university’s public admissions cycles, the overall figure is estimated at around 40 to 50 percent, with wide variation by department. Competitive programmes (Medicine, Dentistry, LLB Law, MSc Data Science) run materially tighter than the institutional average, while several MSc Business and Marketing programmes sit closer to the upper end for applicants meeting the published cut-offs.

Reality check: For MSc Data Science, MSc Business Analytics, and MSc Finance, an Indian Bachelor’s at exactly 60 percent is at the floor. Applicants clearing 65 to 70 percent, with quantitative coursework and one strong technical internship, land offers much more consistently than those on the margin.
