FAQs
Ques 1: Do I really need 60–70% in my B?Tech to get admission? My percentage is 58–62% from a Tier-2 college. Will I be rejected automatically?
Ans: No, you will NOT be rejected automatically. QMUL officially asks for a UK 2:1 (roughly 60–70%), but for Indian students, they openly accept 2:2 equivalents (55–60%) on a case-by-case basis if you have strong relevant experience. Hundreds of Indian students with 58–63% from NITs, VIT, Manipal, SRM, etc. Get offers every year.
Ques 2: Is it worth spending ₹40–45 lakh for one year? Will I recover the money in 2–3 years?
Ans: Yes, almost every Indian student recovers it. Starting salary after QMUL AI MSc (2023–2024 data):
- UK roles (via Graduate Visa): £38,000–£65,000 (₹40–68 lakh) companies like Google London, DeepMind, Amazon, JPMorgan, HSBC, Revolut.
- Back in India (if you return): ₹25–45 lakh at FAANG India, Microsoft IDC, Goldman Sachs, Atlassian, etc. Average time to recover full cost: 22–28 months if you stay in the UK, 14–20 months if you return to India with a UK degree + 1–2 years exp. Plus, you get 2 years of full work rights in the UK with zero job sponsorship hassle.
Ques 3: How can I get the DeepMind Scholarship or at least a ₹10–15 lakh scholarship as an Indian student?
Ans: Three proven ways that worked for Indian students in the 2024–2025 cycle:
a) DeepMind Scholarship (full tuition + ₹20 lakh living) – 7 Indian students got it last year. Apply separately in May–June 2026 via the QMUL portal. Must show financial need + strong profile (women & first-gen learners get priority). Write a killer 800-word “impact essay”.
b) Chevening Scholarship (100% funded by the UK govt) – Apply on chevening.org by 5 Nov 2025. 30–40 Indians get it every year for QMUL. Need 2+ years of work experience + leadership proof.
c) Queen Mary Global Talent + India Excellence Scholarship combo – Auto-considered when you apply early (before April). Many Indians get £10,000–£12,000. Just tick the scholarship box in the application form.
Pro tip: Apply before 28 February 2026 → 90% higher chance of any scholarship.

- To do research in AI and AI in music. Queen Mary is best for that.
- Good research quality, experienced teachers, location, good job opportunities, good university accomodation, Research excellence and innovation, part of Russell Group, generous support package of scholarships, bursaries and studentships to newly-qualified postgraduate applicants.
Dislikes
- London is very expensive city so while planning about budget keep this in mind. Lack of structure on extra-circular activities. Qmul has a lot of opportunities to do things for those who look. These are not always well marketed or known.
