What Students Say
Likes
- Space and air space labs just like Isro are now installed in GEU.
- We are given chances to intern with top government defense space building companies like DRDO and Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd.
- Smallest batch in entire college is our ours as in all there are less than 100 students who have enrolled for our course.
Dislikes
- In our course there are only males mostly and therefore male to female ratio which is excellent at GEU for our course it's otherwise.
Course Curriculum Overview
Space was something which has made me it's fan eversince and space flying things and ruling the skies is what our course teaches us. Aerodynamics, thermal dynamics and all the dynamics that helps in building space flying things, are taught in our course. Also since our program demands training, we just have two or maximum three days of lectures and rest all training.
Internships Opportunities
I am interning with DRDO and it's the university that has sent us. More than planes I feel drones will rule and therefore I am here and some Israeli companies with whom our university has tie-ups we will be interning with them. It's already two weeks and so much already learnt. Unfortunately we are not allowed to disclose the stipend or else I would have done that.
Placement Experience
This semester our training with desired franchise begins and the frnacises are HAL and others and those who does well in there, I think will collect or sign their PPO. Since not a single batch has yet appeared for placements I think PPO is going to play pivotal role in our placements.
Fees and Financial Aid
GEU Dehradun is a famous university and the only one that has this course called BSc Aeronautics. Since the only one and one of the largest private university the fees is steep as it is 2.75 lakhs per year and then because our course demand other trainings and all, it finally going to cost me around 10 lakhs for the course.
Campus Life
GEU campus has een students sitting in bunches and doing their things during the breaks. This makes it even more soothing but realising that we hardly have to come to the university hurts as well. Space society and robot and manual society is where our students are mandatorily registered because projects are sent through the societies for our course.
Admission
Aeronautics hardly have students and therefore the only criteria for admission that university has setup so far is that students should have studied Physics and Maths in 12th. If they have passed even with just over 50% they are qualified to study at GEU for BSc Aeronautics. So it's just our course for which admission are given on the spot.
Faculty
For Aeronautics just doing aeronautical engineering or having degree in that space isn't enough to be qualifying to teach at GEU. All the faculties here have back of building something in the same space. So when spade builders teach you the space architect, you know you are in for some great fun.
Night Life
University does have one canteen but it's small and given the number of students if you get a chance to grab something from the canteen, consider yourself really lucky. Nothing to worry though as our campus has so many things that it is actually better than hanging out an overcrowded Clement Town in evening.
