Course Curriculum Overview

4

The curriculum at Jmc is very relevant and well structured. It includes both theoretical and pta concepts and prepares the students for real world applications . Thought some subjects could be updated and practical stuff could be included. Exams follow the du pattern and and are moderate on the basis of difficulty

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees they charge is on yearly basis. For second year it was around 26,000 and for first year it was between 20-25,000. It included tuition fees, admission fees, development fees snd lab fees. For my batchmates also it ranged between 20-25,000. The college offers merit based awards nd scholarships , fee concession, students aid fund etc . It also has quota for christians and for persons with disabilities (pwd).

Campus Life

5

There are a lot of events that keep happening. Montage is our annual fest . There are a lot of books and journals available in the library . There are a few classes that are smart classes. There are a lot of extracurricular activities and multiple sports. There are a lot of clubs , societies and student - run social groups in college.

Admission

I applied for some top colleges of north campus and lsr and venky in south campus , nmims and ip university. I got confirmed admission from ip University and nmims but i chose Jmc as it is a more prestigious and reputed collge. I didn't get a rejection. The admission process was easy just give cuet and fill preference list and colleges will be alloted on the basis of marks . Students go for bcom economics and psychology and these have pretty high cutoffs

Faculty

4

The faculty is very nice and approachable . All the teachers are very nice be it Shyma ma'am Divya ma'am Daisy ma'am or Deepika ma'am . I like all the faculties. There are 7 paper ,3 core+ sec , vac , aec and ge . They are pretty easy but depends course to course. Mostly students pass and it is a very relevant course

Night Life

5

We have a cafeteria, a mother dairy stall and a bhelpuri stall . The campus timings are 8:30-4. We also have beautiful gardens, gym and a library . It is pretty safe also. We have a pink booth on walking distance from out college .

Placement Experience:

The placement opportunities are mainly for commerce stream departments but the humanities stream also are offered internship from the government ministries such as ministry of culture and Home ministry. There are many private companies that come to offer placements. The students from 3rd year in particular apply for internships. The highest package iffered is 500000 and the average is 250000. About 45% students get placements. My plan after getting the degree is to go for higher studies.

I wanted to do PhD in Political Science but due to percentage I took up BA program. Teachers used to provide notes but mostly I used to be off. There was nothing wrong with the college. Exam timings were good.

As a future law student philosophy was one of the options which was good to opt. Secondly, comparatively less people opt it and it can be one of the better choices if you are preparing for upsc and taking it as an optional. Teaching can be made more interactive as the topics are really interesting

Remarks:

Positive : the faculties are good and I could say our college is the meeting place of various cultures ranging from Kerala to jammukashmir Negative: the infrastructure is poor. Labs and libraries are not so good. And there are stray dogs who often steps into classes and make us afraid. College is not fully air conditioned but is on processing.
