- The most important thing for me was the library, it had each and every resource i needed also the library had the digital access as well. the atmosphere of the library was also calm and composing where you could easily focus on your studies.
- The college infrastructure was one of the best among Delhi university's other off campus colleges- well equipped laboratories, smart classrooms, a decent canteen, a gym area and what not. the campus was clean and well maintained.
- For the overall college the girls to boys ratio was almost around 42:58 the college had good gender diversity but particularly for my course the ratio differed alot. But on the faculty front the faculty was great and had a good mix of both genders.
Dislikes
- i think the college need to improve on its industry linkage and placement support. Like there is nothing like placement cell if you want to get placed its only through teachers reference and that too for very limited set of students.
- The clubs and committees try to be active but lack because of strict budget constraints. And there is very little support to students who actively participate in extracurriculars, and even lacks to motivate students to participate.
- The administrative process is at times very slow something you want right now but you'll have to wait alot for it because sometimes the concerned person might not be available at the campus so that's really frustrating.
Course Curriculum Overview
I would rate the course curriculum as highly relevant and fairly comprehensive especially for the students inclined towards applied science and technology. one of the main reasons i chose this course was the balance between the theoretical understanding and the practical application, supported by well equipped laboratories and project based assessments. The inclusion of skill enhancement course and the discipline elective papers provides felxibility and helps students explore interdisciplinary areas. but there is still a room for improvement in making the styllabus more industry oriented, such as integrating internships and live projects and workshops with industry partners to enhance pratical exposure. exams are also prepared in a way that simply memorizing the concept won't help rather deep understanding of the subjects would be needed that is they are much more aplication of comcept oriented. with consistent preparation you can perform well.
Fees and Financial Aid
For Bsc hons. polymer sciences at bhaskaracharya college of applied sciences from university of delhi was for the first year the annual fee was something around 23000 then for the second year it was around 19000 and for the third year it was something around 17000 though i don't remember the exact figures as i graduated in year 2024. But in addition to this you are required to pay your examination fee based on the number of subjects just like anyother delhi university college. The college and course is good enough that you feel worth every penny spent.
Campus Life
My overall experience at the campus has been engaging, balanced and academically enriching. The college offers a mix of academics, co curriculars and social involvement. The college hosts its annual fests the most awaited events, featuring music , dance and intercollege competitions . infrastructure is great as i mentioned earlier. student life is vibrant due to numerous student lead clubs and committees i myself was part of 3-4 clubs as there was no restrictions on numbers of club you joined. there are various events organsied by different clubs throughout the year where students collaborate with different vendors and stakeholders which promotes thier real life problem handling, team work and resilience to work in proper business environment the college's social media handles keeps everyone updated about whats going on in the college. The only constraint here is budget and the lack of support from college administration.
Admission
During my undergraduate admission process i applied to only bhakaracharya college of applied cience a this was the only college with the course i pursued. and here i recieved a confirmed seat based on my merit under the DU admission cut off system. i chose this course and college because of its strong academic reputation in applied ciences and excellent laboratory structure. The specialized course offered here i highly industrial relevant. BCAS stands out for its research oriented teaching approach , qualified faculty and best equipped labs which was the most important factor for me because for me practical application and learnings are more important. If i wanted to i could easily get into anyother college and specialization but this particular course polymer science stuck with me and i decided to stick to it. But as far as i know now the admission process haas changed and students now have to appear for the cuet exam but that again is a very smooth process and gives good opportunity to students.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio in most of the departments is around 1:20 and 1:25 which allows for effective classroom interaction and personal attention. most professors are highly qualified with PHDs or extensive research background and are approachable both during and after the classes. the faculty- student relation is healthy and teachers are supportive of academic and project related queries and often guide student in research paper writing. The course structure follows the CBCS(LOCF), combining core papers, discipline electives and skill enhancement papers. the syllabus is updated regularly in relevance to current developments. The examination system consists of two components intenal component including test and assignments and the find term examination including theory and practical examination. overall the academic system balances rigor with support and the curriculum is well career oriented
Night Life
The campus is located in dwarka's residential area where i won't say there are alot of places to hang out but there are other places in dwarka where you can go and hang around which are easily accessible, you just need to take a metro or rickshaw to reach. The college does not have a hostel of its own but there are numerous PGs near the college where students from distant places usually stay. though there isn't much of night life inside the campus students often unwind at the dwarka sector 12 and sector 13 markets which are just a short walk or auto ride away. these areas have several cafes, food joints like big yellow door , kaffe n cream, pizza hut and chai point for those who prefer quieter evenings there is district park in sector 13 and vegas mall are some famous destinations.
